It's Tuesday and National Grape Popsicle Day. Birthdays: Julia Ward Howe, Wild Bill Hickok, Dashiell Hammett, John Cheever, Herman Wouk, Tony Hillerman, Ramsey Lewis. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Imaginary Authors Mosaic. Tea at the moment is Numi Golden Chai.
Reminder: 5/30 will be Rainbow Friday...wear something that makes you think of your favorite color. Bonus points if the color is in the name! Suggested by pyramus.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Stump Teapot by ForLife (which has appeared here before, maybe more than once) is available in lots of colors and runs about $38.
Black is not exactly a colour but I’m wearing Tom Ford Black Orchid, one of those scents I really have to be in the mood for, and today that aggressively earthy floral liqueur suits me.
Black is all of the colors! (for pigment mixing, anyway)
Wearing Cheirosa 62 again today. I want to wear no 5 today but it’s not the most work appropriate scent to my nose anymore. Tomorrow morning ought to be fun since I have to get up super early tomorrow for my Dad’s colonoscopy but it’s going to be a rough day for him today since he can’t eat today.
Best wishes to your father – I know all about colonoscopy prep!
I feel you. Mr. Ockeghem is going into colonoscopy prep tomorrow night. He is grumpy. (Doesn’t help that I got to do a less invasive test introduced in the last couple of years and I keep pointing that out. 🙂 )
Ewwwwwwwww, colonoscopy prep. 😵😵💫
I’m in No. 19 as battle armor for a presentation this afternoon with people at the very top of the org chart. It is virtual so I went full hajusuuri-level number of sprays 😂 It makes me think of crystal-clear ice, so no CP points for me today.
Tea today is Clipper Ship’s Hot Buttered Rum, which I think of as a baby step chai because it has just a touch of spice and heat, and is mellowed with almonds and pistachios.
Good luck with the presentation! Your battle armour smells good!
Thank you! I certainly think I smell good 😂
Good luck!
Thanks!
Good luck today!!
Thank you!
Good luck!
Thanks!

Posting this late, but hope that your presentation went well!
Thank you! The presentation went smoothly but we had split the briefing into two parts for time. Round two will be next week. Will need to decide if I stick with No. 19 or go for something else spine straightening. 🤔
I’m very behind in reading / commenting. I hope Part 1 went well!
Majda Bekkali Mon Nom est Rouge. I like that it has warm resinous notes and fresh notes – just the thing for this wet May.
We’ve finally had a quiet night, and mom’s throat is a bit better today.
Glad to hear that. Your perfume choice also sounds good!
Sending you a big hug, I hope you managed to get a bit of good rest.
Hallelujah for a quiet night.
You smell wonderful, Mon Nom est Rouge is a lovely warming perfume.
I’ve been thinking of you as I read the latest news about Ukraine.
Hope the coming night is quiet as well.
Glad to hear you had a good night Glannys!
Wishing you and your mom and kitty many more quiet nights ahead.🤗
Very, very glad you had a quiet night!
Happy to hear that you had a quiet night last night, and that your Mom is feeling better!
Dark Magenta for Encens Mythique
Chai tea today (never as good as my FIL’s)
…doing some research to add to my commentary on Mucha-as we have a Sarah Bernhardt poster I want to talk more about.
I am thinking about buying my first Hermes perfume-and I am thinking I may settle on Galop. It’s hard as Eau de Mervielles and others are on discount sites for cheap. And I can’t find this one on those sites. I may wait…
galop is lovely, and so underrated! i have yet to see it on the discount sites either…
I have been looking. I was also looking for just the refill and I don’t see that online anymore on US websites
i wish it didnt go for so much retail too
I think of a golden brown for EM, an awesome choice no matter what. Good idea to get an Hermes not at the discounters. They are pretty good about adding samples at the standalone.
I’ve only seen Galop at a discounter once. It was many year’s ago. Your best bet is to wait until one of the department store’s runs a 15 percent off beauty.
Yes!
Galop is such a great choice. It’s one I have a bub of. One small thing to note though is that it no longer comes with the orange/red strap.
I thought you did buy Eau des Merveilles. I must have misunderstood. I wouldn’t be without it anymore and am so glad I invested in Hiris as well. Both have had good prices at the discount sites.
I didn’t buy EdM, but you are right, super reasonable on discount sites. I like it- but I love Galop. The dilemma
Lovestosmellgood, I did buy the refill at a CDN discounter, cause it seemed to be disappearing from the regular sites. It wasn’t a huge discount-think I paid $200 CDN for the refill. When the fragrance first launched there was a choice of leather straps-mine is blue. FWIW I’m not tired of this scent after about 8 years of wearing it. I’m looking forward to hearing what, if anything, you choose to buy. Wish we lived in the same country-I’d share.
I don’t see it here on US websites
good morning! todays SOTD is No 5 Eau Premiere, my favorite for spring and early summers. sparkling lemon cream 🙂
hmmm my favorite color is black, if that counts, but green is a close second. green would be an easy one to scent, Amaranthine with that banana leaf astringency is my first pick. On the other hand, black might be tricky… something cold and unapproachable perhaps?
On the other hand, there are quite a few perfumes with “noir” in their name, so you could consider one of those, e.g., Coco Noir.
this is true! i suppose i can go with Chanel Egoiste (originally named Bois Noir before it went commercial)
Huh! I didn’t know that about Egoist. Interesting because a year or so ago I bought myself a bottle of Dior’s Santal Noir, which I think is very very similar to Egoiste.
Egoiste was created by Jacques Polge, and launched in 1990. Santal Noir was created by François Demachy, and launched in 2018. And, the internet tells me (in its uminpeachable wisdom😉) “Demachy was the in-house perfumer at Chanel for 30 years, alongside Jacques Polge, and later became the in-house perfumer at Dior.”
Bois Noir ➡️ Santal Noir. A perfume mystery solved!
oh that is such a neat connection! i’ll have to sniff Santal Noir, I didn’t even know Dior had a scent by that name.
Are you in the continental US? I have a ginormous bottle. Very happy to send you a decant!
oh that’s so kind of you! but it’s quite alright, im fortunate enough to live near a Dior store so i can pop in sometime for a sniff. i really appreciate the offer though <3
love your description of your SOTD!
thank you! it is such a delightful perfume and well loved by people in my life too ^^
Black could also be warm and enveloping as a scent. But it’s the wrong time of year for that in the Northern Hemisphere.
SOTM is Assam of India, so accidentally on point for Teapot Tuesday. And it might work for the CP because of all those colorful little elephants on the bottle, but I really chose it this morning because it’s going to be hot and a bit humid here today.
Yay for elephants! Hope it cuts the heat.
Bleck. I don’t miss humidity at all.
Back from Paris, possibly the nicest trip I have ever taken. Am still sleepy, so will just mention my purchases: Astier de Vilatte Mantes la Jolie, FM Eau de Magnolia, Fragonard Encens Feve Tonka, and a Geodesis Havane candle. Time for a nap…
I’m glad you had a lovely trip.
So glad you had a good time.
So glad to hear it! And what a nice haul, good for you. Get good sleep!
Glad you back – very curious to read your thoughts on the Fragonard!
I ❤️ Paris, too. And your new scents will always remind you of that special place.
Oooh, I really wanted to try Astier de Vilatte when I was just in London, but couldn’t find anywhere that carried them. (Supposedly Liberty did, but I think that was just in home goods, as they weren’t in the perfume sections.)
Seconding MossyBerry in wanting to hear about that Fragonard!
Hello.
Sotd is L’Occitane Herbae. Sweet herbs for the colour green.
Went to Mc.D in what seemed like decades for a soft serve. Came out with a second one in my hand. Not sorry.
I did that at IKEA. Our’s sells soft serve froyo in its marketplace near the exit. Bought two, one for each hand, and happily enjoyed them both on the way back to my car. Here’s to “not sorry”🧡
I love chocolate soft serve, especially.
I am a girly girl, so my favorite colors are pink and blue. Plus, those are colors that look on good me. Like many of you, I do like black and wear a lot of that for presentations and formal occasions.
For today I will wear Eau des Merveilles since LTSG has been talking about Hermes recently.
We are close, I am pink purple & blue. Next is green, then black/grey. Basically don’t do warm colors.
I’m in Calyx by Prescriptives for the color green.
A gorgeous scent!
It sure is! Glad you like it too!
You smell great Gail!
Thank you Robin! I’m thrilled that other people still like it too!
The good stuff!!
That’s a great description! My bottle is getting pretty low but I do have a backup thankfully..
I’m wearing Atelier Pacifica Lime today. I would not say that green is my favorite color, but I do have a lot of it in my wardrobe and my bedroom is painted green. I’d say my favorite is yellow, but I can’t wear it in clothing, I look terrible.
Yellow is super challenging, unless you hit just the right tone for your particular skin color. I look utterly green in most yellows but can pull off a very pale butter yellow. Lemon yellow–Yikes!
I’m with you. Have never been able to wear yellow so don’t even try. I take that back. Years ago, I had a pale-yellow oxford shirt that was fine.
I do like yellow, but it has to be a certain tone. Years ago, I got my “colors” done. Turns out I am a spring, so I can pull off some strange colors that many people can’t.
So interesting that your favorite color is one you can’t wear…I sort of assumed most people were like me and “liked” the colors they looked best in. Maybe I was totally off base!
I’m in Histoires des Oranges, from LAP. Body wash and edp. I have to say I smell fantastic. The body products are great on their own-true to the scent and long lasting.
I couldn’t agree more about the HdO body wash and lotion. I got a bottle of perfume with the other 2 and have loved them. My husband’s a fan too.
I am wearing Musc Nomade by Goutal, I can’t think of a colour to go with it.
I love that scent, austenfan.
So do I, don’t wear it often, but adore it when I do. It’s got great presence, and is never overwhelming.
Musc Nomade is beautiful.
It’s impossible for me to choose a favorite color, so this week I will just aim to wear some scents that seem especially colorful to me. Today, I’m wearing Vanille Havane, a rich deep brown.
Perfect, you smell great.
Good idea!
In Bois Belize, which some kind NSTer introduced me to, Love love love this perfume. The “bois” of Belize is usually considered mahogany, and its campy flag features the Latin phrase “sub umbra floreo” or under the shade I flourish— the shade of the mahogany tree. That said, this perfume reads rose to me— young and fresh, and insanely elegant.
How interesting about the trees and slogan!
I’m another who finds it hard to name a favourite colour, so, while I think about it, I’m wearing a perfume with a colour in the name – Rouge Sarây.
Good enough, points!
I’m wearing MFK Baccarat Rouge. Red is not my favorite color but it’s very easy to find in perfume names, and it’s essential for a good rainbow, right? This perfume gets too much scorn because it’s popular, but I really like it.
Hey, that’s all that matters.
You smell great – I did not instantly love BR (I have the edp) and it has grown on me. I saw your note yesterday and my heart is with you. I did not see before that you had to say goodbye to your kitty, too. We definitely have room in our hearts for another cat, and our three year old “kitten” is a mellow fellow who we think would like a cat friend. We are looking around.
Oh thank you for your kind words. I did go visit the possible new kitty today but we had no chemistry. Probably sounds odd but it is just that way sometimes. He’s absolutely adorable and I hope he finds his right home and human. I will keep my eyes and ears open too. I hope you can find your kitty a fun friend, as well!
Nothing wrong with liking what you like, in perfume or anything else!
Wearing Goutal Ce Soir Ou Jamais which is a beautiful, flinty rose. It reminds me of some beautiful red roses I smelled yesterday in our local rose garden.
I love this one, the name and the scent are so romantic!
It is a fabulous name and sounds so much better in French than “Tonight or Never”😬
The PNW had some of the most beautiful roses I have ever seen.
We do have beautiful roses and Portland does too. I love the Portland Rose Garden.
No tea today, because I got up late and Mr. Mossy has just made coffee which smelled so yummy and fresh. SotD is Angel Nova edp, though no CP points, as pink and red are not my favorite colors. I did once wear pink quite a bit, but now I prefer the green family. Cloudy and pleasant here today.
Fresh coffee does smell really good! Never got the taste for it, though.
Deep dark red is a favorite color of mine to wear in fall and winter and I like perfumes to match. I am wearing, dark red, Tom Ford Lost Cherry from a 4 ml mini bottle I got as a free promo from Sephora. I remember trying it once a few years ago at a store and forgot about it. It has good projection and it lingers for hours on me. I wish the black cherry note was even stronger and the rose less prominent. But, I can see why others like it and for free I’ll gladly wear it.
Free helps! But that is my experience with most cherry scents: not enough cherry and too short lived.
Frozen mango and yogurt smoothie
It rained finally, continually, most of the day and it was really needed. The resinous, mostly for cold days Grain de Soleil – in spite of its summery name – today, tonight the Aveda oil, Love.
Hurray for you finally getting some rain! ☁️☁️☁️☔
Thank you Jalapeno ☔
Home all day today, catching up on chores and doing a deep dive in the garden tackling weeds, weeds, and more weeds! Followed by a virtual yoga class; the stretches sure felt good after all that scrunching over in the garden!
Saving my favorite color fragrance for Friday. Today I opted for EL Sensuous in the edt version. I really like this one in spring; it’s lighter and more transparent and seems to emphasize the magnolia note. Very nice!
Happy Tuesday! 🌸
The weeds!!! I feel like I will never win.
I am one of the folks who don’t have a favorite color. My wardrobe tends to be on the red, purple, blue side of things, and I look better in navy blue than black. (That doesn’t keep me from wearing my favorite black T-shirts, though.) I also have a few pops of neon in my wardrobe. So I will figure out the CP as I go along, or make something up.
Had some leftover steak in a salad for lunch, along with lovely ripe cherry tomatoes. YUM! I should eat like that more often. 🤣
SOTD = back in Neroli Outrenoir.
Sounds like a yummy lunch! I wish we had leftover steak more, but I don’t cook it that much as Ockeghem Teen doesn’t like it. Sigh.
Is Ockeghem Teen vegetarian or vegan?
Nope, just doesn’t like steak. She eats hamburger, though.
Curiouser and curiouser!
Delicious sounding lunch!
It was, LOL! And it fits in with trying to eat more protein and veggies. The salad was mostly cabbage, which suits me just fine.
I’m taking a different approach for the CP this week and wearing perfumes that have beautifully colored juice. I don’t really have a favorite color – I love so many colors, colorful things, and color combos. Today I’m in Guerlain Promenade des Anglaise for the pretty light green color and yesterday wore L’Artisan Violaceum for the purple color. This only really works if you can see the perfume through the bottle, but luckily I have enough bottles and decants to easily make this work. 😉
Cool idea!
Neat!
That is a great idea!
No colours today…the hand went to Temps d’une Fête. Yellow, maybe?
Looking forward to a day off tomorrow. My group was gifted an additional vacation day two weeks ago because we’ve been flat out (and we had to keep the free vacation day quiet). We were supposed to take it Friday before last, but as I had a launch the following Tuesday, there was no way. And still people keep trying to pull me into meetings tomorrow. Sigh.
Enjoy your day off tomorrow!
Have a great, very well deserved day off!
The Holiday weekend has me confused as to what day it is.
It’s a beautiful day here again. I am wearing Chloe Lumineuse layered with BBW Gingham Gorgeous.
You aren’t alone in the day tracking confusion. A radio DJ mentioned that it was Tuesday and not Monday due to the long weekend.
It’s amazing how easily I get thrown off by a Monday holiday🙃
