Carrot ice cream??? OMG I would love that. Yum yum yum. I often steam carrots for soup, then save the carrot water to drink as tea. It is so fragrant, delicate and refreshing, with the slightly sweet scent of carrots in the infused water. (not sure I’d do the same with my steamed cauliflour water though I save that too to throw into soups)
I have Honore des Pres I love New York, the tuberose one, and it’s one of the few tubies I can wear.
Once in a while my sister gets ice cream from an ice cream shop that sells unusual flavors. She brought me some last night. The carrot ice cream tastes like carrot cake. It is very creamy and tasty!

I’m wearing White Linen for Sweet Polly Purebred, Underdog’s love interest and a reporter in a pencil skirt. She’s from about 1964 and White Linen is from 1978, but Sweet Polly looks the ladylike part.

I’m sampling IA Saint Julep this morning. I like it better than expected, but it’s fading very quickly. Maybe pair it with the Cheshire Cat? Not a cartoon character, really, but there are drawings of it in my old book.
On a somewhat related note, I may have purchased the last bottle of Telegrama EDP in existence. It’s gone from the IA website, and was gone from Lucky Scent’s website exactly one day after my order went through. I’ve been mulling cartoon characters for it, and so far the best I can do is Little Richie Rich, for the luxe vibe.

For the second day now, I’m wearing Lutens’ La Dame de Heinan Parfum d”Ambience (yes I spray it onto skin) which I received as an extra from a fabulous NST swapmeet swapper. (Thank you!). I first read about it here from another NSTer who raved about it. It reminds me of Lutens Feminite du Bois mixed with spices and Dior Dolce Vita (which itself was a more fruity variation of Feminite du Bois and I believe was offered to Lutens originally as one of his “Bois” projects (Sepia, Oriental, Violette, etc) but he turned it down and Dior eventually bought it.)
This package traveled over international borders twice to reach me, it was returned to the swapper the first time for unknown reasons, so I especially cherish it.
La Dame de Heian is supposed to evoke a traditional Japanese home with wood and tatami mats and incense so I shall pair it with one of my favorite Japanese animated movies, Totoro, which we watched again and again with the kids when they were young. The gorgeous forest scenes and Japanese wood houses tucked into the countryside created by Hayao Miyazaki were as alive as the characters to me. They have a special place in my heart and psychic landscape.
Very interesting tidbit about Dolce Vita. If SL had taken it, I doubt I would have ever tried it.( since there is no SL here)
Today I am sampling Creed Eladaria. Finally a rose I am not tempted to buy! 😄 It’s not bad actually, it reminds of Acqua di Parma Rosa Nobile, but I like Rosa Nobile better and I have a FB.
Money saved! Though I think Rosa Nobile is d/c so enjoy your bottle!
I tried that recently because the SA raved about its peony note, but I could barely smell any peony. It was just a somewhat pretty but undistinguished rose.

You folks are so great with your pairings. Tulipani, your post made me think of Yosemite Sam, who would smell like gunpowder and dynamite from trying to catch that Wascally Wabbit, and thus would be perfect for that Lutens recent release that has a ‘gunpowder’ note — Bapteme du Feu.

Hello! I’m in an orange blossom world: used L’artisan Parfumeur’s Histoires d’Oramger, body wash and fragrance. I think there’s still some Coromandel left from yesterday, and this orange blossom works well with the traces of Coromandel.
That would make a great pairing, Coro with an added orange blossom note. Hmm, must see if I can put that together myself one of these days.
Wearing no 19 edt today. It’s cold, wet and want to stay in bed but stuck at work until 8. So I need something to power through the day.

Hi all, my SOTD is Fendi’s Life Essence, spices, jasmine, cypress, and powdery sandalwood. After two days of medical tests and an MRI in which I got stuck in the machine and the IV of contrast didn’t flow properly, I’m in need of this!
The vet and staff are enamored with Beau, the vet visit was definitely a success.
We were going to adopt a second cat, a small older Maine Coon named Lucy, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. It seems she is declining and the foster home will keep her in place, which is for the best.
I didn’t mention it but our 18-year-old Maine Coon SmokeyToes (the cat in my avatar), went over the rainbow bridge in January. I miss his scratchy meows and his quirks. But his time here with us was good, and we gave him a wonderful home.
I’m sorry for your loss of your sweet kitty.

I hope that knowledge helps you with the loss of Smokey Toes. I felt the same way when our half-husky Sirius White passed last year. He was 16 and went running or hiking almost every day until the end and had a family who loved spending time with him and two active boys to play with.

10 April marks the 100th anniversary of The Great Gatsby so I reread it this week and thought about matching perfumes. It seems a fair number of people match Gatsby with Jicky but I’m thinking more of his parties, the extravagance and decadence of flowers ( the orchids) , and the reference to him and Daisy as careless people who break things and leave the mess for others to clean up. So, I went towards toxic flowers with Datura Noir.

Sampling MFK Kurky today and ad copy from their website is below…I couldn’t find simple notes on their website and Fragrantica often gets them wrong especially for new perfumes. It’s sweet, musky and close to the skin. Some reviews are annoyed that it’s so light. It reminds of sweet bubble blowing solution in a good way so far.
Was commenting to Brother She-ra this morning that I am in a very gluttonous place with perfume right now. ehaeheh 😆 I have plenty of new samples that I working through but I still want more…like the new Lush Hello Kitty perfume and YSL Muse…Robin has articles on both of these today. 😅
Gourmand musky accord

I “feel” accomplished today. I still have more to do, of course. I got rid of paperwork (parents’ tax returns, lawsuit-related [the car my dad was driving was hit by another…we won, but not much], other ephemera), shredded what I can, wrote a letter to New York State (a little less than $11k) and I have to finish writing a transmittal letter to hopefully get NJ Transit to look at my refund documents. Who knows what I’ll get back but at least I tried!
Clearing out paperwork can be a pain. Good job!

Imagine if you will a crossover between Wacky Races and Speed Racer that is set in a universe akin to “Heavy Metal”. Add a dash of Dragon Ball Z in there as well. Then you get “Redline”, a 2009 anime movie that took 7 years to make, partly because all of it was hand drawn. Two of the main characters of the film are Joshua “Sweet JP” Punkhead and Sonoshee “Cherry Boy Hunter” McLaren. Redline also has a techno soundtrack that makes sticking to the speed limit a challenging task, LOL.
SOTD = Gucci Rush, for Sonoshee McLaren. And for said soundtrack. Rush works well for techno music to me.
I still have the heat on here, but that’s pretty normal.

Inspired by Robin’s comment yesterday that Wilma Flintstone once wore “Purple Passion” perfume, my SotD is Elizabeth Taylor’s Passion. I do enjoy it. My version radiates spices and lush florals on a sweet, soft civet and patchouli base. Minutes of research on Fandom revealed that Wilma wore Purple Passion in an episode call “Jealousy.” An old flame was involved but of course Fred and Wilma cleared up their misunderstandings. I’ve not worn Passion in a while, and it is definitely in my wheelhouse. Rain is back in our area, but I finally got a call back from a mason, who is coming tomorrow to look at our chimney! Yay!
