Thursday scent of the day 2/27

Posted by Robin on 27 February 2025 99 Comments

Happy Almost-Friday! It's also International Polar Bear Day, Pokémon Day, World NGO Day and Anosmia Awareness Day. Birthdays: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, John Steinbeck, Mildred Bailey, Dexter Gordon and Elizabeth Taylor. RIP Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Calvin Klein Reveal.

Reminder: on 2/28, we're doing here comes the sun...wear a fragrance with a solar or "sun-warmed skin" note.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Not solar but galbanum. I’m wearing Dryad for the first time, from a decant I’ve had for a couple of months. I can’t afford a full bottle, but I will definitely get a larger decant when this one is finished.

I’m in a sample of the Jardin de Cythere, for no particular reason. I almost think this would work for tomorrow’s CP. I think I have a sample of the matching dry body oil, too-I should use that up too.

follow up to yesterday: Lovestosmellgood, how do you use the Guerlain water in oil product?

And ockeghem, I used the RMS solid coconut oil. I love it and it’s not expensive and it works. It’s solid in the case and I scoop some out, warm it in my hands, and then apply to my face. I am really enjoying this product-easy to use then rinse off.

Have a good day, everyone 🙂

I tried Jardin de Cythere today for the first time and I didn’t expected to like it that much. Nicely done, Christine Nagel. And I think it fits very well in the Jardin series.

RIP to the poor bambino that died of measles yesterday. So sad.

Today, I’m off to get a couple of vaccines of my own so I’m sure I’ll have a sore arm for a day or two, but totally worth the protection this affords. It’s quite breezy today, but the sun is blasting as usual.

Angel’s Share for me today with all its boozy warmth. If it wasn’t for the the price, I could imagine buying a full bottle of this when my travel spray is gone. But, the older I get, the more choosey I get with money spent on perfumes.

    Happy Almost Friday!

I wasn’t familiar with this scent so I looked it. Daniel, can you truly smell the mimosa? I thought perhaps the anise and rose might crowd it out.

If I’ve ever smelled real mimosa, I don’t remember the scent! But this has a distinct floral characteristic that is present in another mimosa-heavy perfume, “Une Fleur de Cassie,” from Frederic Malle – not rose, and not (strong) anise. So I THINK that’s the mimosa.😊
The Malle is more complex, but the Prada is really lovely, and worth seeking out.

I just learned that two of the trees on our condominium’s property are mimosa trees. When they’re in bloom I will try smelling the flowers. They’re gorgeous that’s for sure. And I will check out the Prada you were wearing.

Last day of February here – which a lot of people regard as the last day of summer. It certainly feels like autumn, with a deeper, golden less glaring light. I was in the cemetery yesterday as the sun came up and counted nine rabbits. All of them escaped under the cracked and broken concrete grave “ beds” when they sensed my presence. There used to be a black rabbit but I haven’t seen it for ages. Wearing Smell Bent Sunshine for the CP, an end of summer scent.

I went to the Dentist this morning. I have a choice of getting a back tooth pulled or crowned. A six hundred dollar difference choice. Ugh..
I am wearing Clean Ultimate Beach Day. I’ve really grown to love this perfume. It’s white flowers with more sand than salt. Inoffensive enough for the Dentist but still interesting.

Wearing Bapteme du Feu and smelling wonderful. I’m at my daughter’s house, they just got home from Europe and she got a terrible ear infection which resulted in both eardrums blowing out. She needed her mom and since those occasions are rare, it’s nice to be needed. Her husband has business trips planned for the next two weeks so I’ll be be staying here with her and my granddogs. Always fun.

Sampling Xinu Oronardo on one hand, and Chypre Mousse on the other. OroNardo is unusual, and I will sample it more. Chypre Mousse is always weird, but this time I am loving it, after years of occasional -yep still just weird- reactions to it. I foresee a small bottle or decant of this in my future. Maybe soap-do they do soap in this?

    SOTD = Chanel Egoiste EDT

… vintage! I smell fabulous! It’s a little decant from pfsh whom I haven’t seen posting in a while. I hope she’s ok. No IG post.

I also got today my long-awaited snek candle which Robin featured (unhelpfully) as a Daily Lemming. It is beautiful and smells great although there was a chipped part on the rim. The company is refunding me 100% … and the best part is I get to keep the candle! So what is better than perfumath free? We have to come up with a word!

      I totally agree 😉
It’s the first perfume with a prominent cammomile note in my collection, so there’s another good reason for buying it!

I’m sampling Amouage Guidance today. Just a dab because it is strong ….. like the sun. Lol! I’m not a big fan of solar notes, but picked up some ideas from all of you for tomorrow!

Back into the mid 60’s with loads of sunshine today. Thursdays are when the updated drought monitor is released. It isn’t really scary yet, but Colorado definitely could use more snow. Here’s hoping March lives up to its reputation as the snowiest month!

SOTD = still hanging out in Armani Code Pour Femme. It’s nice having a floral amber I can wear in warmer temperatures.

Family in Wyoming hoping for more snow too! Gonna be a dry bad summer if there is not more snowpack on the mountains than what there is now!

I hear that! Coincidentally, one of the worst spots in Colorado is right by the Wyoming border. 😟 Here’s hoping both states get a nice load of snow soon.
