It's the last weekend in February! As of Saturday, there are 25 days of (astronomical) winter left (or, 7 days until meteorological spring).
We're waiting (patiently or not so patiently) for spring with our standard open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the fragrance you know you own but just can't find, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…
Note: top image is Spring Call [cropped] by lwtt93 at flickr; some rights reserved.
To answer Robin’s question above…I own Slow Dance by Byredo-but for the life of me, I can’t find it! Maybe I gave it away..
Enjoying reading Tin Man, sad story, but enjoying.
Simultaneously I am reading The Letter for the King, a YA novel part to myself and part out loud to my kids. This is a Netflix series but I want the kids to partake in some of the book first…
Smelling super chic in Baccarat Rouge 540 extrait de parfum
We always tried to read the book first too 🙂
Oh, wow, first! Wearing Irisss today, a run to the recycling center and a little grocery shopping is on my agenda. Maybe I will go to Joanns and see if they have winter fleece on sale yet. I want to see up a fleecy blankies for my TV watching recliner. I made on for adorable hubby years ago
Which has held up admirable, so O am going to make one for me! Continuing to do Pimsleur French lessons. Looking for a reasonably priced B&B in Amsterdam for the first two days of our trip. Anyone have any suggestions?
Almost first! I stayed in Amsterdam so long ago — and so cheaply — that you don’t want my recommendation 🙂
Lovely photo, Robin. 🤩
I’m still wafting Devotion. Someone told me last night I smell “fresh,” which is not an adjective I’d use to describe this scent, but hey, it was a compliment so I’ll take it.
Looked at my schedule last week and saw that I was scheduled for FIVE 12 hour nights in a row. I emailed her and told her I will die. Literally. Die. 💀 Hoping she changes it…
In insurance news, I picked up nine months of my B12 injectable and it was $20 cheaper out of pocket than with my insurance. Riddle me that… Also, if you want a pneumonia vax, it’s $350 without insurance, $160 with Good RX, and zero with insurance so I’ll be coughing up my insurance info next week.
Saw a few balloons this morning, one of which was a disturbing red and black combo that reminded me of Darth Maul. No bueno.
Just…ugh (US healthcare roulette)
I once had someone tell me that White Diamonds smells fresh. Lol. Fresh is subjective.
Hehehe
Yeah, that is another one I wouldn’t call fresh.
I wouldn’t call Devotion fresh unless you consider a lemon pastry fresh😂 Do you have both Devotion and Bake? I have difficulty telling them apart.
No, I don’t have any Akro perfumes, not have I sampled any. My perfume budget is very low/no go these days.
I was just going to say they are so similar that I wouldn’t think a lot of people would have both, but I could be wrong.
It’s the same photographer as last Saturday 🙂
Die on night 2, that’ll serve them right.
I like your thinking!😂
Hi everyone 👋
I have been marinating in Bapteme du Feu since a wonderfully kind NSTer sent me some…..omgoodness I love it so much ❤️ But today I am changing it up with Stash, which is one of my mother’s favorites. I have on the perfume and hair mist.
Cold here but blasting sunshine 🌞 A warming trend starts Monday.
I was reading about Bapteme du Feu on Fragrantica. It certainly sounds like a different type of fragrance.
It is unusual but I love all the phases. It opens with a bright, realistic tangerine note, then it merges with gingerbread, then a woodsy phase and a finish of lingering powder. I have a sample from Luckyscent that you are welcome to, my email is anitalane 313 gmail.
Just emailed you. I had a different email for you so you must have changed it.
Bruckner L’Or de Vanille
Another brand I don’t know so have nothing intelligent to add 🙂
😆 I will tell you it smells like a plusher and sweeter Shalimar and lasts forever. You know I spray very heavy handed due to my scent devouring skin but this one only requires two sprays.
This morning I copied ockeghem and wore Un Jardin sur le Nil to motivate myself for my Saturday run. 15k – it was hard, but I did it! 🏃🏻♀️
Post shower I am thinking of Le Labo Patchouli 24 that springpansy mentioned a couple of times. I’ve been inspired by NSTers this week 🥰
Hope everyone can enjoy the weekend.
♥
Great job on your 15k run. I have to talk myself into my workouts quite often but I am always glad afterwards!
I always have to talk myself into working out.
I reward myself with chocolate. The cycle continues
I am the same. After years of running I still have to talk myself into it often, but the after run feelings are the best!
Good for you!!
Hello everyone,
I know I own Rose oil from Andy Tauer but unfortunately it’s nowhere to be found, it’s a mystery to me what happened to it.
Not decided what to wear for tonight’s musical event that I am organizing, the thing that stresses me most, I have to do the opening speech, it will be short and sweet but I don’t like speaking in front of a public.
I am debating between Coco Noir and Fracas.
Good luck tonight🍀
I am sure you’ll be great!
Wear whatever perfume makes you feel the most good.
Good luck 🍀
Good luck tonight!!
Good luck Hera!
Both perfumes are good choices. Good luck🍀
Public speaking is a challenge but it will feel so good when it’s behind you and then you can enjoy the rest of the evening. Either perfume is a great choice!
Good luck!
Hera, how did your opening speech go?
The event was a big success and my speech went well too.
Thank you for all the kind words.
Yay 😃
w00t w00t w00t! 🎉
Yay!!
The coffee is strong, the outside is quite foggy this morning and the fragrance will be Cardinal.
i think Cardinal may be my favorite incense fragrance. (Assuming that you meant Heeley Cardinal.)
The one and only!
The heavier the fog, the more delicious & comforting the coffee for me.
Sotd Moon Glory
Lavender update: it worked! My resting heart rate (RHR) during sleep has dropped back into normal range. I feel so much better! My stress levels were through the roof and I’m happy to have handled with help holistically. Thanks to all for the suggestions. I’m still waiting on my Harney’s lavender tea delivery, but look forward to it to get ahead of my next stress cycle.
Speaking of Robin, with all the marvelous and meaningful comments yesterday (over 300!) plus a wet iPhone that had to dry out over 6 hrs, I didn’t appreciate the over-arching wisdom of her comments on meditating more as well as having deeper gratitude for what we have in our lives. Robin, you’ve inspired me to deepen my morning quiet time! Thank you (and next Saturday is March) !!!
Wishing all a fragrant weekend!
I am guessing you meant did appreciate.
Thanks for catching this Kris! Lesson: be extra careful texting when rushing out.
Oh gosh Kris is absolutely right- I DID APPRECIATE ROBIN’S WISDOM- that’s why I am inspired by it !!!
Do you do a meditation every morning?? If so, I am inspired by you! I should but I don’t. (Well, I guess that’s why it’s still on my bucket list.)
A few yrs ago I was in a horrible car accident while I was stopped at a red light on a sunny Sunday morning at 11 am. I was quite traumatized, and my doctor recommended I start every morning with quiet time to help. So, now I subscribe to The Daily Word, read each day’s wisdom, then pray for peace and guidance for that day. Lastly, I do a lovingkindness meditation for a few minutes to help me be more positive, kinder, and patient. I confess that it’s easy to have this become rote when the experience should fill the practioner with gratitude and peace. That’s why your words resonated. I’ve started going through the motions, hurrying through things (such as not proofreading a post or driving today 50 mi w Mr Engineer without buying tickets online for an event ahead of time, only to find them sold out), and not being grateful and accepting enough of where I am in the moment. Thus, my body’s craving lavender to combat my stress. That said I do believe that my 10 min daily over this extended time has made my life better in many ways. Everyone that seeks a practice needs something different in terms of meditation. One just need to search for and experiment with what works for them IMHO.
Well good for you, that is a sensible reaction to your circumstances. At the moment I want to meditate every day but usually only actually do it an average of 3 times a week, unless you count doing loving kindness in the sauna or during yoga or acupuncture, which I do regularly but don’t really count since it is not real meditation and is often interrupted.
With the revised weather forecast, it’s a bit cooler than promised, but we are still above 0° C, a win in my book. The snow is melting and rain is on the way.
With that, I’ve sprayed myself with some vintage Diorissimo. Hopefully it will hang around a bit longer with the slightly cooler weather than wearing it when the temps are higher.
I may bake a batch of cookies later today; I still have a few dried raspberries and a bar of white chocolate to use up.
We have cookies in the oven too..
Hi cookie twin!
Mmmm… white chocolate 😍
Yes! It’s quite a good combination with the raspberries.
Vintage Diorissimo sounds evocative of spring! Only 5 more days of February.
It was fantastic! I was getting whiffs most of the day, into the evening.
Heavenly!
My sister makes a fancified version of rice krispy treats with condensed milk and white chocolate added to the marshmallow, and cranberries added to the cereal. Hearing you mention white chocolate and raspberry cookies makes me want to ask her to sub dried raspberries for cranberries in her next batch.
Happy weekend!
Sotd is Chinatown. Might be my favourite Bond no.9.
For the life of me, I can’t find my Shiseido Saso. I know I must’ve have hidden it somewhere super safe because it’s so precious but I’ve looked everywhere!
I agree! Chinatown is my favorite Bond!
Oh, Chinatown is a good one!
I really like Chinatown!
I’m in Chanel Paris-Paris. I’d say Paris-Edimbourg is my favorite of Les Eaux, but Paris is charming.
Happy weekend, everyone!
I didn’t much care for Chanel Paris-Paris, but I really do like Chanel Paris-Deauville. Have you tried that one? I think you may like that.
Yes, I like that one a lot, too.
Charming is the perfect word to describe Paris-Paris.
I like how it stays light and bright in a cologne sort of way – something I don’t usually associate with rose.
Rose you said? Now I must try it 😂
SOTD is ELdO Eau de Protection. Just felt like thorny roses today.
I have been busy cleaning kitchen cupboards and drawers. During the pandemic, my husband and I went through our entire twin home cleaning things from top to bottom. Both of us hate clutter and we have been known to be minimalists. I am okay with that. I got that from my mother and her home was beautiful. Anyway, I figured since we are doing all this remodeling, I might as well do it again. I can see Goodwill in my near future to offload some things😂
Have a great weekend everyone! Temperatures in the 40’s and 50’s here this coming week.
Ooh, one of my very favorite roses. You smell fabulous.
Thank you!
I’m hoping to get the decluttering bug again this Spring. I’m assuming twin house is the same as duplex? If so, that’s a lot of remodeling!
Our garages are connected. We have a small one-just one level and only about 1400 square feet. Some people have two levels. We are having the kitchen and bathroom floors replaced, a new shower and tile for a backsplash and around our fireplace. Not remodeling the entire place.
It is similar to a duplex, but a duplex is usually owned by one person and is one property. A twin home is considered two different properties even though they do have a common wall.
It’s warmish and rainy here, and I wanted something light and pretty to counteract the gray. I’m wearing California Reverie.
Hope it did the trick!
SOTD = Commando Eau de Commando
… just because … got to take a break some time
I posted a Caturday post yesterday! I mentioned being obsessed with Hello Kitty and the item I was waiting for finally arrived. What do you think?
https://www.instagram.com/p/DGWm_oDRL3b/?igsh=MWt6ODI2Y2JxajlxdA==
Other than an all day Sniffapalooza thing, the last time of which I attended in 2019, I am not “into” all day or several days worth of marinating myself in perfume. I know, go ahead and take off perfumista points 🤓. Chemistinbottle (and a bunch of other people) have or had attended the latest Esxence in Milan. I have never been to Milan (not even a bucket list trip for me) and if I do end up going, I would dip my toes in (of course going at the right time) and go do something else. Have you been to all day / several days worth perfume events?
I love any and all of the kittehs you provide us.
Did spend four hours inside Santa Maria Novella – does that count as a perfume event?
It counts as a perfume event although I was looking for a multi-day series which I cannot do because I would be overwhelmed.
I am very sure my sister felt that it was a multi day series.
Hello Kitty throws have been very popular at my store lately. They sell out within the day. I didn’t realize it was the 50th anniversary.
It sure was in November 2024 but I celebrate all year 🤣.
Kind of surprised the Post Office didn’t issue any Hello Kitty stamps for the occasion.
Well she put a smile on my face, she’s so cute!
Thank you. I love her too!
oooooh, that HK charm is super cute! You’ve got me thinking that maybe I need a Baby Yoda version for an Air Tag
You do, you do! I would actually never put it on luggage though just because it is too tempting for someone like me to acquire it …
I keep an air tag in my car so I can locate it in large parking lots, etc. I never thought about getting a cute case for it until today
Wearing And The World Is Yours today 🍊🍨
This originally came out in a 10 ml spray at first and I believe I swapped it away to another NSTer…I was kind of meh on orange blossom. Then I had what can only be described as an orange blossom breakthrough 😂 , tried a sample again and quite luckily got a bottle from another kind NSTer in a Swapmeet. 😍 Full circling swapping of sorts. ⭕️
Work has been really stressful and I will be working tomorrow to get through some revisions for audit document. 😅 Things will be busy through June w/ our audit schedule but things should subside a bit in the next week once this document is done.
I stumbled upon the Insight Timer app which is for mediation and mindfulness, etc.. Curious if others have used it? It’s pretty neat. I looked up reviews and most are really positive and say the free version is not much different than the paid. I don’t currently meditate but am thinking it might be time. 😉
And the world is yours is fantastic!
I’m sorry for the work stress.
Thanks, lillyjo! 🤗
Work stress twins.
We are currently migrating from one gaming platform to a different one, which requires recertification of all our products. So much work to be done, so many teams working together, and I too try to do some things during weekend in order to make the working week less stressful. I know this is not a good approach in a long run, but right now is helping. And we also have annual Audit in June 😂
But we’ll get through this! 💪
We will indeed! 🤗 ♥️ 🦾 I found that robot arm recently and try to use it every change I get. eheheh 😆
Sounds like you work for a video game company…Brother She-ra has loved video games since the 80’s. 😍
Companies all seem to be doing more w/ less staff these days too.
I use that one and Calm. I particularly like the timer which can be customized with sounds and how many breaks with in a segment of meditation. Calm o like the rain sounds effects to just chill and breath deeply for a few minutes during the day.
Thank you…I have heard of Calm and will check it out!
I recommend rain on the leaves for free.
I have not used Insight. I did think 10% Happier was a great meditation app but I only paid for it for one year.
Since I couldn’t reply under the other response I’ll reply here. My thought is that any quiet time/meditation is restorative even if it’s short or interrupted as the positive effects are cumulative. I’ve fallen into going through the motions (as evidenced by my RHR’s elevation at night), despite having made a habit of it. Hence my need for an additional calming agent. With a robust practice (I do like how it’s called a practice rather than a skill or habit), I should be able to weather current rough seas more placidly. That’s why I was inspired by your words. Going to shake things up a bit to go deeper.
That is true…and the two most restorative things I do really are sauna (don’t totally love being in the sauna but feel so wonderful afterwards that I look forward to going) and acupuncture (unfortunately expensive but I would go every day if I had the money). Yoga is also a huge help in dealing with stress.
The benefits of meditation, for me, are more subtle, which is probably why I have not managed to keep myself doing it every day.
Thanks, Robin…I have heard good things about that app too and will check it out!
BBW Vanilla Bean Noel layered under Ummagumma. It doesn’t get any better! While chatting with a dayshifter, I discovered another perfume lover. She particularly likes sandalwood so I’m bringing her a decant of BdI EDT when I come back tonight. It may ruin her for any other sandalwood perfume. Just doing my Fumie Duty! 😇
You will put her in the poor house because Chanel just raised their prices again and it’s my understanding not just fragrances but all beauty products.
I’ve heard that rumor! I have about 1/2 of my 75ml bottle left, but won’t be repurchasing because of the (astronomical!) increase. However, I did snag a bottle of the parfum for this one when they first announced the discontinuation of the extraits. More recently, got Coromandel in the extrait version as well. Considering my age, I’m sure I’ll have enough Chanel to last me into the grave. 🪦
Good for you!!!! Yes the 75 ml are now $350. That’s insane. I remember when 6.8 oz were only $175 lol
In MFK Petit Matin, which for me is a spring Sunday morning scent. I am willing spring to come! 😂
I am taking it easy today, after yesterday’s run. May have to do some work later, like She-ra, but for now I am just gonna enjoy my coffee and perfume.
Enjoy your easy day NinaV!
💕
Patou Vacances, my third favorite lilac
What are the first two, please?
First one is a custom blend Sarah Horowitz Thran made for me with notes of grapefruit, two different lilacs, violet, waterlily, two musks, sandalwood and vanilla. It’s a sweet soft feminine lilac that reminds me a tad of vintage Loves Baby Soft. Second favorite is Pacifica’s French Lilac.
Loves Baby Soft ! That brings back happy memories!
Poking my head up from the deep wallow I seem to have dug myself in the slough of despond for a brief seasonal update: the birds appear to have recognized the lengthening daylight. The tufted titmice are searching for someone they’ve lost; they shout “Peter! Peter! Peter!” over and over. The cardinals believe there is good news somewhere, they repeat “What cheer! What cheer! What cheer!” ad infinitum. I’m not convinced.
I’m unscented today; being on day two of a wicked headache I hesitate to put on any fragrance lest it be tarred forever in my mind with the headache brush.
Do feel better scaresbears!
Love your bird calls. Such wonderful descriptions. Have a happy weekend listening.
I remember cardinals always having a metallic sounding “Chip! Chip!”. That was probably their danger call.
Hope the lengthening daylight will help you too scaresbears!
Complicated Shadows for some complicated work today. 😉 This is a beautiful variation on Clouds…some might argue better than the original…?? Choosing the best of something is a nice problem to have 🙂
Yes that’s a lovely problem She-ra!
Sotd newly arrived YSL L’absolu Platine.
Coveting this one, but thus far I’ve applied twice and can barely smell anything. Keeping my vow to donate matching funds to So Cal Fire relief, contribution to World Central Kitchen.
Happy Monday NST! Repeated yesterday’s Sotd. Still no … is there a fragrance vocabulary word for the initial ambiance? range? perimeter? …. on application? Whatever it is called, I’m barely detecting it.
You could be looking for either sillage or throw. “Sillage” is the trail a perfume leaves behind. Think of it as being similar to the wake a boat leaves in the water.
“Throw” aka projection is how far away from your skin you can smell a scent.
Thank you Jalapeño!
I’ve had a busy but happy weekend with friends but can catch my breath today, which will be nice and quiet. Now the roses are beginning to die in the graveyard there is the occasional scent of tinned tomato soup. I wonder what it is that links dying rose petals with sweetish soup ( definitely tinned soup, not made from scratch). One bush always catches me by surprise as I pass. Wearing Paris layered with Journey, to bring it down a bit. I saw a nice Olympia typewriter in the op shop yesterday and think I might go back today and buy it. Not sure where I can buy ribbons though.
There’s been a typewriter resurgence in the last few years among The Youngs, so you might be able to buy ribbons online.
One of my neighbors bought a typewriter recently.
I’m still catching up after a few days away. I’m back to work this morning, so the rest of the tidying will have to wait. I’m wearing AG’s Un Matin d’Orage.
Sorry it’s back to work Gaynor! And I’m so late you’re long since back 🙂
Working on my perfume resolution of whittling away at travel sprays this year, and today it’s Atelier’s Vanille Insensée, the “I didn’t know I liked vanilla” perfume. Oh goodness, and the sun is out,
Such a good resolution, I should try it.
Joann’s Fabrics has succumbed to bankruptcy blues. I had no idea. Yesterday I went in the and emerged 4 hours later ( te checkout lines were horrendous) with sets of knitting needles I didn’t know I needed and some lovely fake fur called Husky, but it looks like Wookie to me, and some equally lovely fleece with rainbow unicorns prancing thru flowers and sparkles, which I will use to construct a snuggle blankie for recliner time. I need more whimsy in my life, apparently! 🙂 I spent much time filing papers and organizing tax stuff this morning, now my back is too tired to face pinning blanket binding around all that today, so that can be the happy project for tomorrow morning. SOTD is my nice churchy incense, La Liturgie des Heures, which I seem to wear a lot on Sundays. I clean the house and burn a little Green Tara incense I the mornings, and this perfume blends right in-setting up a calm and loving atmosphere to start the week off! I just found a great recipe for poppyseed bread, so when my back feels better, maybe I will make some of that. Happy weekend, everyone!
This is the second bankruptcy for Joann Fabric. First one was last year. I didn’t know they were closing ALL the stores.
It really is sort of weird. The Joann’s where I live was busy all the time. There isn’t anything that provides the same range of product. Why this booming business is failing and no one can figure out how to make it profitable is strange, isn’t it? The people standing in line stocking up on stuff was pretty awesome.
I used to go to one in NJ all the time. Got my tie-dying supplies there.
Inspired by all the talk about D&G Devotion and Akro Bake, I decided to do my “research”, so I went to try them side by side ☺️. I agree with Kris, they are strikingly similar. Maybe I lost some slight difference in the opening, but after I left the store, every time I smelled them they were pretty much the same to my nose. And now that I’ve seen that they were both composed by Olivier Cresp, I really think that he just did some minor change to his original formula and sold it to D&G.
The fragrance(s) is very nice, but since I am not interested in buying a FB, I am eyeing the Akro Gourmand Kit that contains Bake, Rise & Awake in 10ml. Has anyone tried the other two?
I am wondering if maybe hajusuuri purchased the Akro Kit. She might be on here tonight or tomorrow and will answer.
I don’t have the Akro kit but I may have a dabber sample of Rise and / or Awake, still waiting to be tried.
Happy Monday NST.
I just perused solar notes on Fragrantica and there are a lot of perfumes listed but unfortunately I don’t have any of them. Sun warmed skin is not really in my perfume collection. I thought of making this my incense week but we are in a warming trend, so I will wear what I want to this week. Today it’s Phlur vanilla for running errands.
Perfumes with solar notes are not just perfumes with listed “solar notes” on Fragrantica, in my opinion. Although I am sure you smell amazing in your vanilla fragrance (which I unfortunately never tried).
Also consider perfumes with sun or sunshine in the name. Or even sunny florals or tropical florals like ylang ylang or frangipani. And heliotrope as an ingredient since helio means relating to the sun. 🌞
Thanks, you’re giving me some ideas.
The OG Mugler Alien could be considered a solar perfume, too.
I don’t really have anything either if I go by what’s on Fragrantica. I may have a few that could work, but I will see how I feel each day. It is going to be pretty warm here this week so may have to do some spring scents.
That’s how I feel. Tomorrow is supposed to be 52F and sunny, time to break out the Chanel 19.
Also look for anything labeled as a “solar floral”.
Happy Monday, NST! I’m wafting Devotion once again and thoroughly enjoying it.
I brought my bottle of BdI in for the daywalker to sniff. I’m glad I didn’t just go ahead and make a decant because her exact words after sniffing were, “It’s too much for me.” Perfume saved! 😃 She has several bottles made by Dossier (which I’ve never heard of before) that she swears by. Anyone have any feedback on that brand?!

Looks like they make dupes
It’s an affordable dupe house.
They are popular with the influencers but they get them for free… I have not tried them myself.
They seem a bit pricey for dupes but everything is more expensive it seems.
I tested out Theodoros Kalotinis Jasmine of Athens. Thought it would be a jasmine bomb and I love jasmine dominant perfumes. It’s more of a vanilla perfume with some jasmine. Not really my vibe and gave it away to a friend who fell in love with it. After my shower, I will wear Lyric.
That’s a bummer the Theodoros Kalotinis Jasmine didn’t work out for you. But awesome it was something your friend loved.
Lila’s Exquise this morning since it is supposed to get up to 40 degrees hear today, a harbinger of spring, at least pre-spring mud! This is a lovely lilac forward scent has more oomph-read some other things- floating around in there, very pretty!
We actually got into the 50s! A heat wave!

I’m reading a really good novel called The New Life which is based on the two men who wrote the first study on homosexuality, “ Sexual Inversion” back in the 1890s, the court trial and their risk of imprisonment. The author has a PhD in British history so there’s a good sense of context. I’m wearing Barenia which I like more and more. Certain aspects of it remind me of Feu d’Issey, the off-fruity note. The similarities are most noticeable if you overspray. It has good lasting power on me and I’m thinking of getting a full bottle. Listening to rain; it’s still pitch black outside.

Sad to hear that Roberta Flack has died
I saw that earlier today.
Hi all! I interpret solar notes broadly, encompassing everything from suntan lotion to the general feeling of sun and sunny weather.
There’s a great article on Sylvaine Delacourte’s website about them: https://www.sylvaine-delacourte.com/en/blog/solar-notes.
For Monday, I chose Serge Lutens Un Lys. There’s something about this creamy lily that reminds me of a holiday in a sunny place.
I’ve never smelled Un Lys but it sounds beautiful. Thanks for the link. I hope you have a good week.
Thank you, the same to you!
Quite informative article Glannys, thank you! I learned a lot about notes. I do find it poetic that much of the world calls it a holiday rather than a vacation. I’ll never forget once saying I was on vacation, and the person mischievously asked what I was vacating? I suppose: living in a state of stress. “A holiday in a sunny place” sounds idyllic. Seconding Kris, wishing you a good week!
I haven’t posted anything yet, but I will tell Glannys to have a good week. I know she goes through trying times in Ukraine.
Thank you!
Wow, I never thought about vacation vs. holiday before.
You are right: “holy day” sounds more poetic than “unoccupied [day]”. Sacred to Europeans but just days free from work to Americans? 😉The Ukrainian word “відпустка” is closer to “let go” or “release”, so not as nice as “holiday” as well.
🤗🌹
I made the mistake of asking a fellow traveler (of a certain age) when her next vacation will be. Her response? Retirees do not vacation!
As I’m a retiree, that’s news to me. If we can’t vacation, I do hope we’re allowed to holiday!
Retirees vacation! I am headed for Amsterdam, Paris, and some backwater village in the Camargue come May! I know retirees who are headed for some archeological site in Canada, and of course people going to the mountains in Wyoming. Go all over!
Hope you are doing well Glannys. Glad to see you posting. Stay safe!
Thank you. Woke up depressed but brightened up in the afternoon. Solar notes is just what I need this week.
Popping by to say that I’m wearing Patou’s Chaldée.
Smelling great!
And smelling wonderful.
This morning both my daughter and I fell in the driveway on black ice. She fell on her knees and I somehow managed to propel my fall to the neighbors lawn where the snow saved me.( ironic I know) we are both fine.
I chose No.19 for my sotd.
Yay for snow? Hope your daughter’s knees are ok. You smell elegant!
Thank you!
Oh, no! Hope you both heal quickly.
Thanks Kris! I think we are doing ok. Thank goodness I didn’t hit the cement. My daughter is young and cushiony. I’m old and bony.
Relieved to hear you’re both fine lillyjo! May the rest of your day be smooth sailing!
Thanks!
Sorry for your fall! You smell nice
Thank you!
Ouch! Hope you’re both okay. Maybe you now have an appreciation for snow ⛄️ 🤣.
I will appreciate it now that Spring is near!
Yeowtch! Nothing damaged but your dignity, right? Seriously though, glad to hear you both are all right.
I hate black ice.
You should have seen me trying not to fall! I am sure I looked ridiculous! Good thing I am too old to care anymore 🤣
I’m glad you are both OK, ice is so treacherous.
Shower gel and body cream for the day is Bath and Body Works Butterfly. SOTD is Zara Romance d’Iris. I usually wear this in the spring and summer months, but it is going to be 59 degrees today! Yesterday, we had a 92 degree shift from last Tuesday. Last Tuesday it was -38 and yesterday it was +54. Crazy!!! It has been a very weird winter this year here.
You smell like spring Kris!
Thank you!
Wowza! Mother Nature has been grinding the gears on your weather!
Yes. Now I suppose everyone is going to get sick.
That is crazy!
You would be correct😊
I tried to buy some Butterfly on the Lush site but didn’t see any. ☹️ Should I look on eBay?
Butterfly is bath and bodyworks.
Thank you lillyjo!
Commando today and for the past few days as we try to catch the stray cat who has been hanging around our yard for the past several months. He has a bruise on his leg and is limping so he definitely needs to get checked out. We had suspected that he has a home and was playing us for extra food, but now I think not — no way even semi-responsible owners would let him roam in this condition. Poor little guy.
Solar frags don’t work well on me, so this is a good week to sit out and cheer from the sidelines anyhow.
Tea today is the last of my Marco Polo Sublime. It’s very good but I prefer the regular Marco Polo, so I’ll get that once I’m done with this year’s Pantry Clean Out Hunger Games.
Oy with the stray cat! I hope he’s caught before too much damage is done. Will you keep the stray?
Aw. Hope you can catch that poor stray.
Commando twins with you today.
I hope you can catch the poor kitty!

Love the woodsy, boozy, powdery perfume! 🤎 Alas, this is the end of the January Joy Box 2025 and what a blast I had. Of course I was supposed to be done at the end of January but I have a perfumeland in these here parts so I took my time.

I attended a NJ Symphony performance at the NJ State Theater in New Brunswick. It was wonderful. My friend left it up to me to purchase the ticket and I decided to NOT go with the cheapest but also not the more expensive ones so I ended up with the “best seats” in balcony and they were pretty good seats. Then we went to a restaurant nearby (Cuzins) and had a fabulous dinner. The only negative thing was there were 8 (or maybe more) “birthday” dazzler celebrations and they were just too distracting!
Cute grey kitteh!!
Thank you!
What a wonderful evening!
It was except for the sparklers.
To answer Robin’s question, I have a couple of sample sets from Tauer that I *know* I packed up for my move. I still haven’t found them. Maybe they are hanging out with a small carved jade cat that I can’t find either. 🐈⬛
Commando today for a dentist appointment. NBD, just an ordinary checkup with a new hygienist for me. The one I saw last summer moved on.
Temps have been near 70 with plenty of sunshine both today and yesterday. I am willing to share, if anyone wants some! 🌞🌞🌞
PS. Been loving Josie Maran Bohemian Fig body butter the past couple of days.
Where do you find all these body butters? I haven’t heard of half of them, but they sound good.
I got the travel size pouches from Sephora. I think that size is only sold online. Some of the bigger ones might be in stores.
The Josie Maran ones I have tried are perfect for spring and autumn. Not quite emollient enough for the dead of winter, though.
You seem to have a lot of brands I am not familiar with so that means I need to check out Sephora some more😂
TBH, some of the stuff I use is due to getting a Sephora sample of it. Those little suckers can be dangerous!
I bet that jade cat is awesome. I hope you find it.
It’s only about 3 inches high. I got it at a Renaissance Faire after Pixel kitty crossed the rainbow bridge.
I don’t know how it smells but I bet you smell good!
It’s a woody fig. Think of something like Philosykos. The base notes are vetiver and tonka beans.
