Sotd is Jour d’Hermes Absolu. It’s been years since I’ve worn it and I wonder why I didn’t. Smells like warm sunshine.
Dinner tonight is Japanese. I am anticipating lots of sushi. Yummmm.

Jd’H Absolu is so pretty! It’s the rare flanker that is better than its parent.

SOTD is Goutal’s Myrrhe Ardent-the EDP and body lotion. I really love this scent. I think those four fragrances that came out together are some of the most special fragrances the people at AG ever created. I find when I wear it people tend to come in very close proximity-some scents are like that.

I love bleeding heart too, carole, but have planted them twice and neither made it through the winter.
My friend gave me a cutting from her plant. I planted it in full sun and used some mushroom compost . It grew like a weed.
Interesting, I have never had trouble with them, I wonder if something ate them??

I generously spritzed LPRN So Frenchy edt, because of the bottle’s red and black stripes. It’s smelling very clean and green on this chilly, dry day. I am trying to get myself out the door for a walk, so maybe the sweet cherry will bloom out as I warm up.

It tends to get lost in the hoard – I’ve not worn the OG (mine is circa 2017) in ages. I need to do a test again, but I think I like Black Perfecto best.

I will be wearing Lush Ginger today, courtesy of an NST valentine. 🙂 Only a few more days before the cold lifts and I can feel safe putting the daffodils I bought a couple weeks ago into the windowbox. (They are currently living inside and are blooming quicker than I’d like.)

I couldn’t decide what to wear today and finally chose Christian Lacroix Tumulte Pour Homme. Here’s some of the description from Fragrantica:
“This dynamic, spicy and woody fragrance is made for a deceisive (sic) and self-confident man who is, at the same time, very optimistic.”
Ha! I’m an old lady with less than that amount of self confidence or optimism but this incense and cedar fest smells wonderful.
Winter storm starts at 1:00 today according to the local weather guy. I hope it’s snow and not ice but it could go either way. I know these storms will affect lots of people, hope everyone stays safe and warm.

SOTD is Shalimar Millesime Jasmine. It seems like it is ramping up on the Jasmine as it maturates.

Wearing last drops of my sample of JHAG Romantina for this week’s CP. According to Fragrantica:
“The story is a love story: it’s about a young woman visiting Rome. She falls madly in love with a local guy, but leaves within 24 hours so that the love story stays untouched.”
A bit cliche, don’t you think? But Romantina does smells romantic.
Today I also tested ELDO Frustration and Matiere Premiere Bois d’Ebene. Frustration did not have as much vanilla as I expected and Bois d’Ebene surprised me with a piney note. I will try them again, but so far I don’t feel like I want them in my wardrobe.

Wearing Shalimar MI today because it doesn’t get as much love from me as does MVP. I want all my children to feel equally loved, adored, and valued so they don’t need therapy later in life. 😉 I also find Iris scents more feminine and romantic than my beloved orientals, incenses, and gourmands, so there’s that.
I’ve slathered on so many moisturizers, serums, and sprays, topped off with SPF I’m looking like a disco ball, but it feels so good! Big plans for today are getting a micro SD card for my dash cam. Maybe do laundry but I’m thinking I will procrastinate on that because it’s a gorgeous sunny day. 🌞

We have sunshine again today, February does tend to be more settled weather, but everyone I’ve talked to recently feels cheated of a summer.
I’m wearing Amouage Beloved, inspired by Glannys yesterday.
Drat. We’ve had summers like that here, I hate it. Then again we’ve had summers so hot I felt cheated by that too.
I’m in Pilcro EDP from Anthropologie. I sniffed it in the store this weekend and liked it so much I went back for a travel spray. It’s similar to Glossier You with the addition of a top note of tangerine, which is fun. I’m all about the skin scents.
We are getting our predicted biggest snowfall of the season today. I’m in my office with the window today and have watched the flakes grow in size as the day has progressed. The heaviest accumulation will be after 2 pm, just in time for the commute home.😜

I’m joining the Shalimar crew today; today’s choice is Parfum Initial sprayed over Shalimar body creme. Yesterday I was in 2 sprays of vintage Shalimar edt.
I think it’s the cold weather here that’s making me crave the heavier Guerlains. Hoping that we’re back to normal temperatures in a few days. Looking forward to getting my flower seeds in the mail so I can start my garden early. This will be trial and error; I’ll try some inside and direct sow others when it’s time.

Starting GALentine’s Day celebration a day early w Sotd Encens Mythique, my gift from Kris.
Fragrance should be antidote to rainy cold gray day to meet with CPA. On the lavender front, sipping tea, rubbing hand cream and using lavender colored post its. Nighttime heart rate still elevated. LUSH is near mtg so I’ll pick up some of the Sleepy shower gel there that was recommended to me!

It did! Thank you! And I hit LUSH before. Got one large SLEEPY shower gel, then 2 POSH CHOCOLATE for my CPA Veronica and her asst Jovanna. Got the mtg off to a fragrant start. Also, ironically, Veronica wore a lavender silk blouse. The color was soothing!
The Sleepy lotion is perfect. You should go back. Lol.

They redid the store. It’s raining here so I was a running a bit late and didn’t have time to enjoy looking around. Also I cut through Bloomingdales to get to Lush. They totally redid the beauty section so that Fragrance is front, center, back, left & right. Even Maison Francis Kurkijizn had a immense counter. Didn’t see much niche perfumery. I strutted through wafting my Encens Mythique proudly!

Kris, thank you for asking! I had my physical last week and due for further testing but not till May. I emailed him my Oura ring data and am waiting to hear back. He’s been my Dr for 30+ yrs so I trust him. I’m doing my holistic best to take care of myself.
Cold and drizzly outside, with lots of rain in the forecast. As always, we need it, but after the fires there’s an increased risk of mudslides. Enough with the destruction.
I’d love to stay in, but it’s my job to walk the pup. (She hates the rain, but walk we must, three times daily.)
I’m wearing a favorite burly “masculine” from the early 80s: vintage Quorum, from Antonio Puig. (Carlos Benaïm is one of the noses credited.) It’s loaded with citrus, herbs, florals, leather, oak moss – all the good stuff.
Does your pup enjoy a sniffy walk (as I call them) after the rain? Or does she prefer the smells of dryer weather?
She hasn’t displayed any preference – she just loves to sniff, as long as it’s not raining.😊
We watched the Westminster Dog Show at MSG the last two nights. I’m always amazed at how well trained the dogs are that they aren’t stopping to sniff every other dog they see for one huge doggie park get-together on the Astro turf.

A week ago I impulsively bought a 3 ml “sample” of the Jacques Fath award winning recreation of the lost Iris Gris.
It came today. I sniffed the sample, still cold from the mailbox, and it made me laugh out loud. I put the cap back on and will let it warm up and regain its composure for a few days, and then let you know what I think. Has anyone else smelled this at all? They made a big deal out of the contest, and the winners, and the outrageous price at the time. This small amount was $100.00, but I needed a dose of retail therapy that day, and I am officially on a no buy anything but food and gardening supplies for the foreseeable future now. Happy Darwin Day!

I now know to call snow ❄️ storm ⛈️ of 2 inches or lower “nuisance snow”. We got slightly more than that but overall, it was just … a nuisance.
My latest OS update for my iPhone changed the inner workings of my gmail accounts. Now I can choose between “categorized” and sequential. I am pretty sure it messed up my accounts because I was having problems updating it to get new mail about a week before the update. It got a little better after I deleted a bunch. I still have a long way to go because I have … name your number but it is in the ::: gasp 😱::: x digits!

Still playing around with my mini of Yves Rocher Nature Millenaire. It’s a beautiful spicy ambery vanillic thing, perfect for cold weather, but it slides off my skin too easily. It’s a splash too, so perhaps it’s not diffusing as well as a spray.
I think you are right. Most perfumes I have encountered diffuse better when sprayed vs when dabbed/splashed/rolled on.
I have 3 types of packaging I hate:
– splash but I can decant to an atomize
– rollerball but with a little ooomph I can decant to an atomizer
– bulb spray – this is the worst!
I’ve been a little absent from commenting lately, but I’m still reading most days. I’ll say a little more later, but today I’m enjoying Rousse from an almost-finished decant. Yesterday I wore Mancera Tonka Cola from a new sample and enjoyed it. And my favorite tonka perfumes keep getting discontinued so this could be a good substitute after I’m through with what I have of the others.
Mancera Tonka Cola sounds interesting. Stupid spell check changed Mancera to cancer. Those programmers should be fired.

I tried to make pork chops for dinner tonight. I defrosted them and they didn’t look quite right so I threw them out. I hate wasting food but not as much as I hate food poisoning.

Remember how I was grousing about the weather yesterday? Well temps REALLY plummeted today. I think the high temp was around 12 degrees F. And we had sub zero temps last night after all. More of the same tonight.
OTOH, the sun was shining brightly for part of the day, and about half the snow on my car has either melted or sublimated, despite the frigidness (is that a word?) outside. It’s supposed to get up close to freezing tomorrow, which means I can quit dripping the faucets then.
SOTD = still in Flowerbomb. And heavy duty wool socks!

Thanks! I think I might have found the lowest temperature at which Flowerbomb fades away. It seemed a little shy today.
When Flowerbomb first came out, they were selling it like crazy at the Macy’s in my city. It looks like it still has an entire case of its own so they must still sell it a lot. I never cared for it, but that was so long ago that maybe by now I would love it. I better have a sniff someday. The body cream always looked so nice.
The Flowerbomb body products are wonderful.
Layering is lovely and cost effective. Wish more scents had at least a body lotion.
Years ago many of them had lotion. Not as many do anymore.
Flowerbomb has been noticeably reformulated to my nose since 2008, which is when I got my bottle. It’s more gourmand now.
Jalapeno, many thanks for telling me about Colorado Sound, have been listening last couple days and really enjoying it. There is some overlap with XPN & KUTX, but also have heard fair bit of music that was new to me. Will definitely be on my regular radio rotation 🙂
