Etat Libre d’Orange Uruk Chronicles ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 17 January 2025 10 Comments

French niche line Etat Libre d’Orange has launched Uruk Chronicles, a new Harrods-exclusive fragrance. The tag line: By the tonka I remain.

A heady scent that will linger as the night envelopes [sic] the day.

This heady eau de parfum from Etat Libre D’Orange is inspired by the first true city in the world, Uruk of ancient Mesopotamia and its legendary ruler, Gilgamesh. Uruk Chronicles invites you to go through Gilgamesh’s journey to legend with every spritz.*

The notes include strawberry, abelia, tangerine, saffron, iris, pomarose, cypriol, cedar and tonka.

Etat Libre d’Orange Uruk Chronicles is available at Harrods in the UK, £225 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

She has a few green bottles that I remember. One was a custom creation that has been on her IG.

Yesssss, although I was trying to see where I saw a reference to Uruk then realized it was LOTR upon reading the other comments!

Never even heard of abelia before but at first glance I thought it said abuela. (Abelia is apparently in the honeysuckle family.)

When I saw the name, I thought it was a reference to Uruk-hai from the LOTR. 🤣

Same! Now THAT would be a dark fragrance.

An Orc perfume from ELdO would not surprise me. I did not remember Ur, and I never knew the word “Uruk” except from Tolkien. But I am glad to be reminded of the Mesopotamians, and the notes sound like something I would really like if the saffron is not prominent.
