It’s Tuesday and the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance nope, I’ve got my days wrong! Birthdays today: Elsa Schiaparelli, Karl Lagerfeld, José Feliciano, Colin Firth.  RIP James Earl Jones. What fragrance are you wearing?

I’m (mentally) extending a long weekend at the beach with Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum. Tea at the moment is Ahmad Cardamom.

Reminder: on 9/13, wear the fragrance from the oldest bottle in your collection that you bought new…

Flowers that would otherwise go to waste

At Bridge Farm Group in England’s Lincolnshire County, rows and rows of roses, petunias, and marigolds fill the company’s 60-acre glasshouse. About 90 million such plants will make their way to retailers across the UK—but not all of them will be sold. Now, researchers are figuring out how to turn the flowers that would otherwise go to waste into product fragrances, through a partnership between the grower, Unilever, and the University of Nottingham.

The ninth edition of a poll about transitional fragrances: what are your favorite fragrances as summer turns to fall this year? What scent makes you happy as the nights get chilly and the days take on that crisp edge? And tell us what perfume you wish you owned for chilly weather.
