It’s Tuesday and Purple Day. Birthdays: AE Housman (Loveliest of trees, the cherry now), Robert Frost, Guccio Gucci, Joseph Campbell, Tennessee Williams, Leonard Nimoy, Diana Ross. What fragrance are you wearing?
At the moment I’m wearing ylang ylang oil mixed in unscented lotion. After my exercise class later this morning I might go for something stronger.

Maybe it was just me, but the scents landed on the wrong part of my brain, knocking on reason’s door. Scriabin leaves you with enough questions as it is, and here were more. Salonen’s and Thibaudet’s sensational performance of “Prometheus” — transparent, nuanced and colorful — had no need for further tickling the senses.
