Over the pond, you can also find the same case in Hazelnut Brown, and Selfridges also has a leather case for the 11 ml sprays for £95 (I cannot find a color listing but it looks like navy to me).

Friday scent of the day 5/24

Happy Friday and happy International Tiara Day aka Queen Victoria’s birthday! (Plus, happy 83rd to Bob Dylan, and the splitmeet is still open.) Our community project for today: wear your perfume equivalent of a tiara.

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

If I had any vintage Joy extrait left, that would be my automatic pick for a tiara, but I’m all out, so I’m in Aftelier Candide. Like Joy, it smells like it is made from real flowers, lots of them, and not much else…

It felt like a miracle

My father was a perfumer too, and I vividly remember one time, when he was about 80, walking him back to his garden at 1am. We both stopped in our tracks. There was this incredible scent of tuberose coming from the town, and jasmine from somewhere up high. The meeting of the two was like a fully formed perfume. He said he’d been experiencing that for 65 years, but every time it felt like a miracle.
