Anatole Lebreton Artefacts ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 4 December 2024 5 Comments

Earlier this year, French niche line Anatole Lebreton launched Artefacts, a new trio of fragrances: Armonia, Kairos and Uruk.

For this new collection, I wanted to explore the mechanisms at work in the creative act by drawing inspiration from emblematic episodes of human history. From these olfactory excavations into foreign perspectives and distant points of view, these Artifacts were born.

Armonia ~ Iris and leather. "ARTEFACT: Florence, during the Italian Renaissance: the theory of right measure and perfect proportion. OLFACTORY ATMOSPHERE: Iris, leather and soft wood."

Kairos ~ Gourmand vanilla. "ARTEFACT: In ancient Greece, Kairos was the definition of the opportune moment, of instantaneous, prophetic intuition. OLFACTORY ATMOSPHERE: Bitter almond, Orange Blossom, Vanilla."

Uruk ~ Dark resin. "ARTEFACT : The emergence of writing in Mesopotamia 5000 years ago, in the city-state of Uruk. OLFACTORY ATMOSPHERE: Cistus Labdanum, nutmeg and incense."

Anatole Lebreton Armonia, Kairos and Uruk are available now at Anatole Lebreton in France, in 30 ml Parfum, €130 each.

I’m intrigued with this line since I read Luca Turin’s reviews. I’m curious how those of you in the US have purchased a Discovery Set?

      They all sound rather good.

I have the discovery set. I like two of them (Perfumista and Grimoire) a lot, one other, Caribe Kiss ok but it is a summer beachy scent. Then got a cold and was unimpressed with the others, but I need to give them another chance with fully functioning nasal passages. Worth exploring, these are as Turin says, big determined perfumes., not for those who hesitate about imposing sillage.
Of the new ones, Uruk sounds like something I would like in winter…

I’m not in the US, but did purchase the discovery set and the samples of the three Artefacts. Having worked my way through 1.5 times now, I agree with Meredifay on Perfumista and Grimoire, though Perfumista took some time to grow on me. I also liked Brioche, though more the first time I wore it than the second, and L’Eau Guillerette as a pretty spring perfume.

Of the Artifacts, my note on Uruk was that it was a dead ringer for a European church, but I only got a little of the orange and none of the nutmeg. I liked it, but I have a lot of incense perfumes. Kairos smelled like an orange creamsicle on me. Armonia was fairly tame.

That said, when it came time to go to Paris, none of these had impressed me enough to go search out a FB. But they are well put together and worth smelling.

Thanks for the extended discussion! Always fun to have my admittedly quirky sniffer validated!
