The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 19 November 2024 6 Comments

Still more holiday tea, this time from Kusmi. Shown is the Tsarevna and Glögg Gift Set: "Tsarevna, organic Christmas black tea with a captivating scent of orange, vanilla and spices, from ginger to cardamom and cinnamon, all punctuated by a gentle hint of liquorice. And the Glögg, the deliciously spicy festive organic herbal tea whose beautiful amber liquor holds tangy notes of hibiscus, grapes and blackcurrant." $15.99 for two 45g miniatures as shown, or $55.98 for the two full sized 120g tins, or, pay $39.99 for the complete advent calendar which includes the two miniatures plus 20 other tea bags, an infuser and a jelly.

I would like to try the Glogg. I don’t like Tsarevna much, I’ve had a tin for years now and have barely made a dent in it.

Interesting, I thought Tsarena sounded like high end complex Constant Comment, or like that Chai that Oprah was selling for a while. Is it too smokey the way some of the Russian samovar teas are?

No, it is just too sweet for me, particularly it tastes like sweet licorice. I just don’t like it. I generally don’t like vanilla in my tea either; it’s got that as well.

I think it’s a very popular tea and they’ve been putting it out at the holidays for eons, so it’s probably just me.

Ah, thanks! I also don’t like licorice, it generally seems to overpower all other flavors for me. Money saved!
