Wednesday scent of the day 11/6

Posted by Robin on 6 November 2024 106 Comments

It's Hump Day, Stress Awareness Day and National Nachos Day. Birthdays: John Philip Sousa, Glenn Frey, Arturo Sandoval and Colson Whitehead. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Aftelier Ancient Resins.

Reminder: on 11/8, for the 10th anniversary of our Friday projects, we're repeating the first one we did, way back in 2014... think of your favorite fragrance note (or one of them, if you can't narrow down), wear your favorite fragrance that features that note, and tell us about it. (Hat tip to happy888cat who noticed the anniversary! We are quite a few months late, but that's how things go around here.)

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in Heaven Can Wait. I like to mist this in the air and then walk through it-there’s a cinder sort of note that really pleases me.

Hope everyone’s day is decent, and we all get some moments of mental peace. Looking forward to reading what everyone is wearing.

Caramelly sotd again in Shalimar MI. It is a mood booster for sure, like a feel-good dessert. I love it.

    Stress Awareness Day…you don’t say!

Robin, you’re smelling wonderful. I miss my Ancient Resins.

I started the day in Puente Iris Doux but then tried Barenia since the drugstore had it. I liked it at first; I was getting pink grapefruit from it but I guess it’s the mixture of bergamot and miracle berry. The drydown is not bowling me over, though. Money saved.

Thanks for the report on Barenia. I am not seeing an overwhelming amount of love for this one. Money saved for me too.

I gave it a brief sniff in duty free but didn’t get much of an impression. I wouldn’t mind giving it more time because I was in a rush and flew through the shop.

I should have already but since I haven’t sniffed Barenia, I opted to get the travel size. Still waiting for it …

It’s perfectly competent, and I liked the opening. It’s just a bit run-of-the-mill in its drydown. I can see it being worth a travel size.

Yes, it’s a 10ml spray like the one Sephora carries. Allure tries to do something scented every month, I’ve liked more than not.

Oh, that header photo! Did I mention I went to 3 caves while on vacay? We went to Lascaux, Rouffignac, and Pech Merle. No way to describe them with words, they were all different and worth seeing live. Since seeing an article in my dad’s National Geographic magazine when I was a kid I was fascinated with the idea of seeing cave art in real life. Bucket List Wish ✅

My camper is flooded up to my ankles in tears, and continuing to rise! T-Rex has donned her life jacket. We may need the Coast Guard to rescue us from the depths. The Kraken has surfaced amidst the churning waters..! 😭

I need a very boosting, calming scent so I’m going straight for Shalimar MVP.

Thanks! I really went a bit crazy but honestly, I wish I had gotten a few more. They really make a difference when you’re wearing a very plain outfit. There was a small group of us ladies that really took scarves to heart. At dinner, the first thing we did was show off and discuss our newest finds, or say “Hey, did you see the scarves in such and such a shop?” It was a lot of fun and a great way to remember my time there. And, full disclosure, I already put a deposit down on a trip for next fall. 😃✈️🇫🇷

They’re ancient, look like paratrooper boots and survived a fully-clothed plunge into a frigid lake to rescue a dog who turned out not to need rescuing at all. The 9 hour drive in wet clothes and boots that followed was…interesting…but the boots are good as new.

I can’t imagine why a dog would be in a frigid lake and not need assistance of some sort…but, no matter, the fact that you tried to save him/her is amazing! But that is a looong ride in wet clothes…🥶

    Stress Awareness Day, ha!

Pine is one of my favorite notes, when not overpowering. My favorite was Good Fir, but I don’t have my bottle anymore. My most expensive bottle ever went bad in storage. 😭😭😭

Roman Wood is my scent for today. A fair-sized dollop of vanilla tames the pine. It feels calming. I imagine that fans of Vetiver Tonka might like this one.

    SOTD = Eau de Commando

… not sure what I am wearing yet and yeah, I know it’s after 2pm here in the U.S. east coast …

I was a poll worker yesterday and it was a loooong day and the wireless was not of the best quality. We still got 40% voted for the district of 900+ although I have no clue as to how the 40% was calculated (e.g. did it include people who voted timely by mail?). Just FYI, when one signs up to be poll worker, one must declare political affiliation because there are rules about having an equal number from each major party. We are also not supposed to be vocal about what we think but somehow at least one person did even though this person knew it was against the rules!

I may need to replace my Apple Watch because the weather app is no longer synching to my watch face although now that I think about it, I may just need to select a different watch face! We’ll see. Otherwise, I am hoping to get the best bargain with the latest version for not a bad price overall.

Been listening to a lot of heavy metal today.

Ended up with 2 inches of snow at sunrise, but most of it has sublimed into the air, despite temperatures remaining around freezing all day today. There’s only a little bit here and there on the rooftops, and on the vehicles that people did not clean off.

SOTD = commando again. Feel this isn’t a good time for perfume. But I will still keep on with the scented lotion.

Still too warm here for any inkling of snow. I ended up wearing Chanel Paris Edimbourg, my usual 8 sprays and poof, it’s gone 4 hours later.

I don’t believe one can be a poll worker if not affiliated with the 2 major parties but that is definitely in NJ only although I would imagine that it’s probably my the same across all states.

One of my other friends in NJ said it was going to be around 80 there?!? Crazy!

I seem to have switched from late summer straight into winter here.

I’m just not used to you getting snow first.

Heh, and it’s even a little later than usual for my part of Colorado.

Bet you’d rather I have it than you, LOL!

I left the mainland this morning and now I am trying to relax in 86F, partly cloudy skies Honolulu. I had cookies for breakfast and potato chips for lunch, hoping to do better in the nutrition department for dinner. I’m wearing Frapin 1270.

Lovely, enjoy Hawaii! I had Cheetos as a snack after lunch.

I am actually CP appropriate today, wearing Goldfield and Banks Silky Woods. Either musk or vanilla is my favorite note – I think wood would be third. I think this may be one of my favorite vanillas and I love that it isn’t sweet but dry and leathery.

I am trying to focus on the positive today to distract myself from national affairs. We had a wonderful, hard rain the other night and I was so happy for our trees and wildlife.
