Tuesday scent of the day 10/29

Posted by Robin on 29 October 2024 105 Comments

It's Tuesday and National Cat Day. Birthdays: Fanny Brice, Niki de Saint Phalle, Bob Ross. RIP Phil Lesh. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Boy Chanel. (Raise your hand if what you're wearing on any given day is often what you came across while looking for something else!) Tea at the moment is Irish Breakfast from Harney's.

Reminder: on 11/1, Rabbit rabbit rabbit! It's November. Wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, happiness or good luck for the month.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the Colonna Diva teapot from Ginori 1735 ("The iconic Colonna shape, emblem of '50s design and functionality features a decoration enhanced with distinctive gold threading and gives life to the new Diva collection") is $665 at Bloomingdales.

That is a very elegant object! Nothing to do with my rustic boho lifestyle, but very pretty as a teapot, in and of itself. You find the best images.

I am in Killian Amber Oud today, it works in the cooling autumn air, and it makes my sinuses not irritated, the way much actual oud does. I expect the irritation is from secondary molds and fungi from the storage of those precious flakes of diseased wood….the most expensive Oud I have smelled seems like the air of heaven….

I have PT later this morning. I love my physical therapist! She gives me trickily easy core exercises, that make me sore the next day, and does deep tissue release on the fascia of my hamstrings. My hip feels better than it has in a year!

SOTD is the new Shalimar MJ. It really is a beautiful jasmine. I personally think I will wear it more in the warmer months, but it looks like today may be the last warm day of the year so, why not? Love it. BTW I did get a BUB😊

That’s funny as I had two BUBs of MI too, but ended up giving one away and then got the BUB of MJ. Now I have one of each so I figure I’m good until the one next year comes out😊

    Hello.
My holiday is officially over. Just landed and now on my way home.
Sotd is the lingering mix of different perfumes I tested in the airport. I did try to wash them off before boarding so I wouldn’t suffocate anybody. I’d say I smell pretty harmless!

I’m in Glossier You Reve from a sample. I like this one better than Doux, but not as much as the original. I wore it yesterday too and I will say that it has great lasting power.
The last 2 nights I’ve slept like 💩 y’all. Sunday night I spent hours trying to get to sleep then last night I fell asleep instantly but woke at 3:30 and was up for 2 hours tossing and turning. Fingers crossed for a better night tonight.
We are supposed to hit 80 today! The record for this day is 82 and I think we’ll be close. Counting the minutes til my lunchtime walk.😎🌞

I tried both Reve and Doux the other day at Sephora. Reve was sold out. I didn’t like either as much as Glossier You. Did you know they have a body cream too? That really helps the longevity of the scent.

Hello! Beautiful teapot. I’ve had two cups of coffee already 🙂

I’m in my sample of Hemres Poivre Samarcande. It’s beautiful. It does remind me of FM Heaven Can wait-same perfumer, warm spices. Those 4 ml samples are so generous.

It’s a freezing cold fall day here, with every sort of weather every five minutes: rain, snow, sleet, hail, then blinding brilliant sunshine. Warm spices are just the ticket 🙂

Wow, we are so far from that weather. High 60s and sunny, kind of weird for late October.

It’s very warm here so I chose Seville l’Aube, shorts and Birkenstocks for probably the last time this year, although I hear that November is supposed to be unseasonably warm, too. We had nice crisp October weather over the weekend.

Hi Folks. Thanks for all your good wishes. Covid has finally worked its way through my system, and I’m testing negative. Phew. Still feel like I have a chest cold, but my sense of smell is slowly returning. It’s hard to quantify it, but it feels like it’s about 70% there. To celebrate, I’m wearing some vintage Polo (Green) from Ralph Lauren, which I picked up from Surrender to Chance. This used to be in the air everywhere, but I never encounter it these days. It’s really, really good, even when my nose isn’t at full strength.😊 Happy Tuesday, everyone.

When I had COVID a couple of years ago and lost my sense of smell, my daily test was to sniff my vintage bottle of Fendi Fendi. I couldn’t believe that I couldn’t smell it at all. But when I could finally get a whiff, I knew I was on the mend.

Keeping a low profile so my feelings/thoughts/emotions about the election don’t get me put in Robins’ time out corner.

Doctor appointment today so a few sprays of Sycamore. We had a cold Santa Ana come through and it’s a bit chilly this morning.

I often search for a fragrance and end up with what my hand lands on.

Yesterday I moved a jar of Dame Black Flower Mexican Vanilla body cream to get to Tabac 28 and just ended up wearing that.

    It was yummy.

Un Coeur en Mai. I kind of put it randomly looking for something to dab, not spray.

I had a dental appointment today but had to move it to the next week because I twisted my ankle as soon as I left the apartment. That’s the third time in the last 4 months or so. 😢

I recently completed three test pieces for three different clients. I hope I succeeded at at least one – not only because it would bring more work but for the sake of my self-esteem as well. 😨 Have not heard back from any of the customers, but it can take time. At least one of my customers gives a decent amount of work – October was quite good financially.

Make sure you really rest that ankle and also do some strengthening exercises once it’s better (there are lots of Youtube videos for that), otherwise it will remain weak and prone to twisting/rolling again. I speak from experience!

SotD Amouage Lilac Love – it’s giving me No. 19 Poudre vibes with comforting powder and soft muskiness. They are not the same of course; first thought was that I like the Chanel better, but as the day wears on, I’m thinking how apples and oranges are both delicious. 🙂 RIP Terri Garr. I suggest watching or re-watching OG Star Trek “Assignment Earth” which I think was her breakthrough role. If her mod outfit and “I love my country” speech don’t win you over, the scene with Leonard Nimoy and Isis will (be still my heart!).

Let’s see, fragrances for peace and happiness. I am just getting around to spritzing today and I think I’ll go with my sample of Heeley Cardinal, a lovely clean linen type of incense.

Mr. SP and I have been working on our will (yes, we should have done it long before now), but it’s a funny time of year for it with death everywhere (skeletons in all the yards, giant spiders climbing houses, gravestones scattered around). It’s almost done!

I dunno; I think this might be the perfect time of year to complete a will. 🎃🐈‍⬛👻

Chilly day here! I *think* the high temp was around 55 or so. Considering that yesterday it was 82 here, that’s quite the drop. And tomorrow will be downright cold. I am in long sleeves now.

Teflon kitty had a vet appointment earlier today that gave us news we wanted to hear: her ear infection is finally gone! No more ear drops or weekly trips to the vet.

SOTD = one last day with Vacation Classic Whip sunscreen mousse on my arms. Wearing Korres Grecian Gardenia body butter on my shins.

Tef really wanted to stay on her kitty cat heating pad and nap, rather than see the vet again. She was happy to get home!

Working tonight and snacking on veggie straws.
I started out the day in Gucci Accenti and now I am wearing Devotion from the purse stash.

Hope you have a good night at work. Or at least one that doesn’t suck.

Robin, I love today’s teapot so much! If only it were one fourth the price, I might be tempted.

Wearing Diptyque 34 Blvd Saint Germain today, the EDP.

Gosh, I’d be tempted too, even though it’s way too fancy for me! I don’t even have a teacup fancy enough to use with it so I’d have to buy the whole matching set 😉

Chiming in very late to say that I spent most of the day in Eau Sauvage, but right now the house is scented with homemade peasant bread. Yum.
