Thursday scent of the day 10/17

Posted by Robin on 17 October 2024 123 Comments

Happy Almost-Friday and happy National Pasta Day! It's also the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Prada Infusion d'Iris for Moonstruck ("a shadowy gray hue that lives behind the clouds").

Reminder: on 10/18, wear a fragrance that evokes one of Pantone's picks for the Autumn/Winter 2024/2025 NYFW Color Palette. (If you like, click through to the article and pick your fragrance based on the color name or description rather than the color itself, as in "Tomato Cream, a nourishing toasty hue that warms the soul." or "Italian Plum, a deep dark purple full of magical energies.")

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: I think the Prada Triangle-logo Shearling Slippers are sold out. They were $1200.

POAL for Scarlet Smile. The match is not ideal – I imagine a darker, more subdued shade of red for POAL, but “a glamourous and decadent red” seems fitting.
I don’t particularly like the name “Scarlet Smile”, by the way. Sounds like something from a horror movie or book.

Love your scent. I imagine a darker red as well, but there doesn’t seem to be one available so Scarlet Smile is as good as any.

I’m using my sample of Byredo De Los Santos. I really like it-the sweet woods aspect reminds me of Fille en Aiguilles (I always have to look up the spelling for aiguilles lol). It stays close to the skin, and isn’t overly complex-just smells like palo santo, to me.

Hi NST! My morning is off to a great start as I woke up convinced that today is Friday, my day off – strictly wishful thinking.
I’m wearing another favorite fall scent, Satellite Padparadscha, for red orange, although the sapphire for which it’s named is more pink orange. Close enough.

Back in Eau de néroli doré, which I suppose would correspond with Golden Palm, both through the presence of “golden” in their names and the chartreuse colour.

In Krazy Krizia for Red Orange, a vibrant shade connected to energy and empowerment.

I was so pleased with myself because I smelled KK for the first time yesterday and immediately thought of Dune. Then I remembered that they are both Dominique Ropion creations from the same year, 1991.

Wearing Rochas Tocade parfum for its Scarlet Smile box and red (in my mind anyway) rose aspects. It is such a relentlessly cheerful scent that it always makes me smile. I also love the silly bottle, as if it says “this perfume doesn’t take itself too seriously”. I had an employee who never wore fragrance herself who always told me how much she liked it whenever I wore it, which makes me wonder if there is a particular type of fragrance that non-consumers of perfume appreciate on others. Another non-fragranced employee really liked Sonia Rykiel Woman Not For Men! on me though I never was able to persuade her to try it on herself.

No, but thank you for thinking of me. I think it was Kanuka that told me about Weleda Pampering Wild Rose Lotion. I was looking for a darker rose lotion for the cooler months to pair with perfumes such as POAL and Eau de Protection. This one fits the bill perfectly and is inexpensive as well.

I called NJTransit to follow-up on my ticket refund submission. When I finally teached someone, the CSR mentioned that it would take more than 8 weeks and did not commit to a date. OK, so it is now 11 weeks into the refund start date (August 1st) and the website still says 4 weeks. I was going to get sassy and decided not to because they will just take their sweet time anyway. You would think that given the number of requests received that they would update their website. As usual, pretty incompetent 😡.

I’m not sure any of the Pantone colours fit with my dress for today, which is shades of blue. However the pattern is irises, so an iris perfume is an obvious choice. I’ve been weighing up Iris Poudre and Hiris, and then thought of Angélique from Papillon Perfumes, so it’s Angélique.

I’m in Glossier You from the solid. Not matching it to any color, but I have ideas for tomorrow.
I took the day off today after a late night concert and overnight in milwaukee with my college bestie. We went to see The Psychedelic Furs with the Jesus and Mary Chain. I was up way past my bedtime lol. I’ve seen the later way back in 1990 at First Ave in mpls, but this was my first time seeing the Furs. They did not disappoint, they played all the hits, and Richard Butler still sounds exactly the same. My gradtowngirl is going to see them tonight in the twin cities! I love that my kids grew up listening to 80s music and love it almost as much as I do.☺️

I made a pit stop at Nordies this morning before I headed home and did some sniffing. They had the new Hermes which I sprayed on a tester and I quite like it. It’s reminding me of something retro that I can’t put my finger on. Sadly this Nordies no longer has the tester atomizers sitting around to make my own sample.☹️ I wonder if all Nordstroms got rid of them?

I’m envious of your concert-going! Just the mention of Jesus and Mary Chain makes me think of “Just Like Honey,” which makes me think of Lost in Translation. One of my very favorite movies.

I haven’t been in to a Nordstrom in quite a while, but I would imagine that they don’t have those testers anymore. They probably lost a lot of $ doing that.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Nordie’s. The one that I am now closest to is notorious for not having enough parking, so I’ve not bothered going. Not interested in getting a ticket, or worse, getting towed/booted.

Apparently I’m especially connected to Tomato Cream in my perfume choices so far this week. Tuesday I wore one of my favorite perfume oils, L’Aromatica Pumpkin Honey. The juice is almost the same color as the Pantone swatch. Last night and today I’m in Sonoma Scent Studio Equestrian, a peak representation of fall in perfume form, which also seems to fit Tomato Cream quite well. A good smelling week!

Later this afternoon my partner and I are going to get our covid and flu shots, and I anticipate feeling terrible for about 24 hours so I took a planned sick day from work tomorrow. Happily though, he’s got a chicken noodle soup (noodles added right before eating, of course) going in the crock pot all day so we’ll get some comfort food tonight and tomorrow!

You know, I’m not fully sure, but my assumption was if the egg noodles were in the whole time, they’d get mushy and overcooked. But that could be wrong! My partner isn’t following a recipe (and he almost never does). He’s just winging it.

My sotd is Angel’s Share. I am matching it to the color raw umber. I also matched it with bbw Sunrise Woods lotion. They smell very similar imo.

Wearing just a dab of Prada Marienbad for the color Italian Plum. I love the perfume and the color!
I’ll most likely be commando tomorrow since I will be having a yucky procedure done. (The one you’re supposed to get every ten years if you’re over 50. ) I hate getting a fragrance attached to an unhappy event.
This has been a fun CP! I love to play with colors. 🌈

        SIGH

“undergoing *that* procedure tomorrow”. No need for done to be hanging out in that sentence.

Guess I got skeeved out just thinking about it.

I would like them better if they didn’t have the Prada logo on them, but yes!

Yet another vet appointment for Teflon kitty this afternoon. She wasn’t feeling it at all, and I ended up 1) calling the vet to let them know I was running a little late, and 2) moving a couch so I could put Teflon in her carrier and get her to the vet. I think she knew what the result of today’s visit was going to be.

One more week of her steroid ear drops. However, I have to do it only once a day instead of twice a day. At least I wasn’t charged for this visit!

I had a good time at the Dine & Dash last night. Ended up with a free beverage and a takeout dinner. It only “cost” a drive in rush hour traffic, which I anticipated. It wasn’t that bad, all things considered.

SOTD = TM Angel EdP. The color of the box is kind of close to Winter Sky, so I guess that counts, ha!

Teflon is the smartest cat I have ever had.

I will need to be a little sneakier when it’s time for her next appointment. I think I know what tipped her off this afternoon.

I gave her today off, since she did have the vet appointment. So the crazy starts back up again tomorrow.

I’m in the drydown of Angel right now, and it smells great.

Tef is improving. It’s just taking a while to get there. But she isn’t walking around scratching at her ears all the time anymore. So the fur there is starting to grow back.

    sotd = CdG Avignon

I’m so tempted to look for a bottle. I love it, and my sample is almost gone. 😭

What color? Probably the gray or the light blue. 💙

aw, thank you, ringthing! 🤗 Miracles can happen, though the real miracle is that it has been years since I bought a new bottle.

When I get the urge to buy I go stare deep into the perfume cupboard and take a big breath, then I slowly walk away saying, “Enough, already.” 😉
