Zoologist King Cobra ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 28 August 2024 22 Comments

Indie Canadian line Zoologist has launched King Cobra, a new unisex fragrance.

Intoxicating aromas of exotic greenery infuse the ancient Indian forest. Yet a snake on the trail of its next meal can isolate the scent of a plump rat. But a flick of its slithering tail betrays the snake, sending the rodent darting away. Thwarted, the snake curls back upon itself, only to feel the cool touch of a menacing shadow of a towering King Cobra witnessing its failure. Now the predator becomes prey and there’s no escape. Intent on a breakfast devoured whole and without mercy, the hooded king strikes. Fangs sink deep, their venom coursing through the body of the snake. Instantly paralyzing heart and lungs, the toxins set to work dissolving the flesh from the inside out.

King Cobra from Zoologist is driven by danger and a desire to dominate. It hypnotizes with camphorous notes of Ganja and petitgrain, radiating coils of aromatic spices and damp mossy soil around a body heavy with incense. Finally, after shedding a delicate green leather, the powerful king ascends to his throne. A coronation of scent, King Cobra gives you license to rule.

King Cobra was developed by perfumer Prin Lomros. Additional notes include fig, mandarin, petrichor, pomegranate, black tea, cumin, patchouli and vetiver.

Zoologist King Cobra is available now at Bloom Perfume in the UK, £175 for 60 ml Extrait de Parfum. (A 10 ml size will also be released at some point.)

“Fangs sink deep, their venom coursing through the body of the snake.” I think they meant rat? Anywho, I am really looking forward to trying this. Real king cobras are majestic and the notes listed are interestingly complex.

No, the snake that was after the rat got eaten by the cobra. I’m usually a fan of these Zoologist descriptions but this one just got too gross and graphic for me.

Ooooh! I got confused halfway through the intense action. Thanks!

Same here. Wow, that description is just over the top. And more cannabis. No go for me.

Love the way they make all their bottle pictures look as cute as possible. The Grinning Covra, who knew?

Incense heavy? Sign me up! I still haven’t tried Rabbit and that one sounds good too.

I can send you my sample of Rabbit, as I found it too cloying, though others like it just fine. I’m pretty sure you’re in the US. Just email me at my NST user name at gmail. 🙂

36 perfumes since 2016 (and im not counting the rereleased fragrances) and not one that I really liked (and I probably tried 25 of them)…

      2014 apparently, but still…

I like Snowy Owl. And the original version of Dragonfly, which was reformulated into a lesser uninteresting version almost immediately, before I could buy a bottle. But I have not pursued other samples, for some reason.

I like Snowy Owl also. One of my favorites. Wonder why they need to reformulate so often? Ingredients become unavailable or banned?

Ugh. After reading this copy, I will not venture near this scent. Plus, I am not the least bit “driven by danger and a desire to dominate.”

The marketing copy is definitely a turn off.

Got seriously creeped out by the ad copy on this. (shudder)

As someone who has a snake phobia and doesn’t find much success with the brand (but I do love Civet and really like Bee amongst a few others), I’ll not be seeking this one out. Ad copy is also too much.
