From Diptyque's new L'Eau Papier collection, limited edition candles in Papier ("velvety musks mingle with sesame and heliotrope in an ode to this much-loved material") and Encre ("depth of patchouli meets the dense texture of black liquorice in an evocation of ink"). $74 each for 190g.
Hmm. Having an actual ink that smelled of liquorice might be fun. The Papier sounds better to me.
They both sound good to me, and wonder if they layer well.
Oh I saw these on the local stockist’s website. Will seek out for a sniff!
Do report back!
Papier smells just like their L’eau Papier candle. I have burnt it and it’s very light, so perfect for days when you don’t want a heavy scent burning.
Encre has a distinct liquorice note. Ink is there as well but it so well blend together. I like to have both burning when I’m reading but I will keep them for colder weather as they will be more ideal for that 🙂
Like their perfume** but the candle does smell like the candle 😉
Thanks for the report heynoah!
I got the L’Eau Papier perfume last year for a bargain. These candles sound like they probably do layer well together based on the scent notes. But, I just finished the Diptyque Cypres candle and it had very little strength or throw like a 1/10, which makes me wary to get more right now. I’ll just save some money and spritz on the perfume I already have once in a while. I’d be interested though if people report they can actually smell these well while burning.
Oh, what a shame about the Cypres!
Thanks, yes it was a disappointment since it smelled great unlit. I hadn’t had that problem with Diptyque in the past, so I’m hoping it was just the Cypres one or I got a dud.
