So I chose John Galliano John Galliano, because it has rose, iris and incense. I love it – gothic but festive. Goth at a fancy dress party.

En Passant is nice but I agree, it’s not exactly full bottle worthy.
On me it is so fleeting, that I never thought about a full bottle. My favorite lilac perfume so far is Vilhelm A Lilac a Day.
For some reason that one did not work for me so I gifted it to another person.
I think it is a very easy to wear, office friendly scent. I like it, but I have many scents in that category, so I don’t really need a replacement.
Have you tried Amouage Lilac Love, which I quite enjoye? I’m an En Passant fan but like you, my travel spray will suffice.

Woke very early, so read a while in bed, a section in Joyful by Ingrid Fetell Lee about gardens and plants. Nice way to start the day, and felt the need to pull out GREEN. So, AG Camille, a little bit of Demeter Grass, and some Oriza L LeGrand Deja le Printemps, scattered about on my arms.
It’s rainy this morning, and 63. I cracked the windows, so the kittens and I are listening to rain and birds.

Pulled out L’Heure Bleue this morning, which I always think of as the frenchest of all perfumes.
L’heure Bleue is awesome but hard to take in hot weather. I love it early spring.
Today is SHL 666 Taklamakan for its spices, incense, and rose. Lots of other things in there that make it one of my favorites. Thanks to a very generous NSTer, I won’t be running out anytime soon. Absolutely love this scent! 🥰
The gang’s all here minus one and we have no idea if that person is coming or not. They were supposed to arrive yesterday. Otherwise we are a ragtag group of folks from all areas of the country, vastly different backgrounds, life experiences, ages, and education levels. I love it! Nothing more boring than a group of Stepford People.
We are off to town for supplies today, so I’ll be wafting wonderfullness. This perfume stays close to the body, so no worries about gassing anyone out. I think this will be an easy CP week for me as I have several that fit into this category. Cheers!

I hear you – am in the always-reassuring L’Attesa into work. It’s roadworks season and downtown is a day-long traffic jam.
For no reason I decided to wear all French houses this week, and only just now I realized that French is widely spoken in Morocco, so I guess that counts? I’m in Yves Rocher Aztek, which has a hideous bottle but is terrific, basically Eleven Secret Herbs And Spices without the fried chicken — tarragon, cloves, and coriander, for sure, plus a bunch of others, on a bed of sandalwood and vanilla. They used to make such good things!
They really did. So many of the chains have gone downhill…
Today I polished off my sample of Aerin Lilac Path. It’s nice but will never replace Desarmant as my lilac love. I should do some house stuff outdoors today but I may not, I am not in the mood for scraping and priming. I am in the mood to bake cookies.

In a few sprays of Zara Popeline Blanche, one of their Olivia Giacobetti fragrances. It’s got a lovely orange flower/neroli note for the cp.
Also this week, Mr. allo is off sailing the high seas which means that I can wear indolic jasmines with abandon! So in addition to whatever cp fragrance I’m wearing each day, an indolic jasmine will be lurking in the wings and ready to pounce!💃
Which of those Zaras did you like the best? I didn’t try any of these, but I think Livre Blanc sounds the one that would best suit my tastes.

I think you would enjoy Livre Blanc. As with all of these fragrances, it’s light but beautiful. I also enjoy Popeline Blanche for the Neroli note.

Sampling Tonka Sarrapia today…quite lovely in the opening so far and reminds me of both Shalimar MVP and Tonka somewhat.
My sample behavior is a bit strange and I would like to confess. 😇 Sometimes I order samples and test them immediately when they arrive. Other times, like w/ some of the Guerlain extraits, I hang on to them for a while…savor having them in the house 😆 but almost don’t want to try them b/c then I will know w/ certainty if they are as wonderful as I hope or as basic as some on Fragrantica make me fear. Anticipation is more satisfying than knowledge sometimes I suppose. 🕵🏻
I will confess that sometimes I put them in my sample drawer and forget about them entirely. Then it is a nice surprise when I find them again 🙂

Every May there is a festival of the roses in the Atlas Mountains where wild Damask roses ( originally from Syria) are harvested for perfume. Rose is the national flower of Morocco. I’m matching with Serge Lutens ( who lives in Marrakech) Fille de Berlin.

I had an interview once where the hiring manager completely forgot to call me! But in the end I got the job, and ended up not reporting to that manager for the first three years. By the time I did, I completely understood why she didn’t call me — she was brilliant, but flaky that way and you had to learn to work with / around her.

I chose Lancôme Climat today, my bottle is oldish but not a true vintage and it has smelled just wonderful today, mental note to use it more often. Tonight it’s Laura Mercier Eau gourmande Vanillé, a favorite vanilla.

I’ve been MIA the last few days, taking care of our sweet 🐩 Aubrey. Spent half the weekend in urgent care and vet hospital after a nick and scrape at the groomer’s turned into a massive infection. He’ll be on antibiotics for three weeks; hoping that clears it up. Meanwhile, we’re taking turns sitting with him to avoid the torture of the dreaded cone. One of the highlights of being retired, lol!

Stressful day in the office, and I slept very poorly in anticipation of it. I usually hate sharing dreams because I find them so random and meaningless to most listeners, but here goes. Last night I dreamt I was leaning in to hug Arianna Huffington and accidentally swallowed these giant earrings she was wearing!! Hahahaha. Was it last week when someone mentioned giant 80s earrings the size of silver dollars? Yes, earrings like that was what I swallowed. I think I must be losing my mind. I also have no idea why Arianna Huffington appeared in my dreams.

For some reason, I thought I bought 50mL and was really surprised when the bottle looked really hefty and was in fact twice that! As I mentioned on the IG post, it was a well-designed bottle as the hat protects from drips but seriously, that bottle was really fugly.

I have the next to last class tonight. It seems I’ll have a box with a hinged lid at the end of it. It’s been interesting but I also have the feeling that I’d never be able to do this on my own and would need a lot more time in the shop being overseen by someone.
I went with Desarmant today because someone mentioned it here recently and reminded me I haven’t worn it during lilac season yet. I’ve been lucky to be able to take lots of sniffs of lilac trees around here, though the blooms are winding down on most of them. The Korean lilacs are just starting to bloom though so the fun isn’t over yet.
I am now seeing lilacs in bloom all over the place where I am at. I think most of them are at peak now. On Sunday I could smell one particularly fragrant bush from about 50 feet away. It was wonderful!

Still dabbling in rose scents, trying to find one I like. I am trying a high end sample, PDM Delina. I do like that it is rosy and fresh and fruity. And boy, this stuff lasted all day. But seems very pricy so I would really have to love it to get a bottle. I am hoping to find a lower priced alternative.
Going to do the other end of the price spectrum tomorrow with Solinotes Rose. I got a 15 ml spray at almost sample price.
I think I am looking for something rose-ish, where rose is definitely the main focus but not overpowering. And I want a fresh rose, rather than leather, patchouli, spices.
Some people have compared Mugler Angel Nova to Delina, also Nest Lychee Rose. I have never tried Delina though so I can’t say from experience.

Thanks. If Delina ends up being the best it could be a 2025 purchase. I love trying samples. Sometimes I think I like the discovery process as much as finding the final winner. But testing rose perfumes has definitely been more slow-going than my usual fare of musk, vanilla and incense.
