Wednesday scent of the day 3/6

Posted by Robin on 6 March 2024 181 Comments

It's Hump Day, the European Day of the Righteous and Day of the Dude. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm on vacation, and I'm terribly late, sorry! I'm also commando for a day of outdoor activities.

Reminder: 3/8 is International Women's Day... do what you like with the theme. Wear a perfume in honor of a woman who is important in your life or an important female historical figure, or wear a perfume by a female perfumer, or ? Suggested by Kanuka.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Robin, I hope you have a great day outside!

I’m planning to wear Olivia Giacobetti fragrances for the rest of the week. Today it’s the beautiful Passage d’Enfer. What a piece of art!

OG is a great idea, I would join you if I had any with me. (And it is possible I will be commando for the rest of the week as it is)

Demeter Hot Fudge Sundae, the old one from the Jelly Belly collection (they moved it into their Classic line when I guess the contract expired). It’s supposedly smells like vanilla ice cream, cherries, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce, but in truth it just smells like the latter. I’ll take it, though! It’s really fun, rich and chocolatey with a dash of salt.

Day of the Dude! Last week I saw that Pendleton has reissued Dude’s sweater (original Westerly) at $269, def above his price range.
In Iris Cendre for a coolish but thankfully sunny day.

Please send good vibes my way today. I have a BIG audit today and a smaller audit tomorrow. Today’s is for a new program so there’s more risk. 😅Thankfully both are remote.

Debating what perfume to wear. I am leery of choosing something I like in case things go south so I don’t have that association. Now I am curious where the expression go south comes from… 🧐 Forever curious am I. Will update later w/ the perfume I choose.

    Have fun, Robin!
It’s nice to have a CP with lots of choices, I picked up Nicolai Patchouli Intense today. It’s become the signature scent of a friend of mine, she bought a bottle after I gave her a decant, so I don’t wear it very often anymore. I’ve missed it.

I’m following ringthing’s lead from the last couple days with DSH Inner Sanctum. I have the essence oil version in a rollerball bottle, which was all she was offering at the time my perfume bottle ran out years ago. This oil version goes a long way so I’m sure I’ll never actually finish this little bottle. Since we have cool temps still, this is hopefully my last wintery DSH of the season. I hope next time I wear her it’s a spring scent (though I do love Inner Sanctum)!

IMHO, just wear it whenever you feel like wearing it. I have to add this to my DSH list.

Well certainly, I just wear whatever I want whenever. But I find Inner Sanctum to feel perfectly cozy in chilly weather, so that feels most right for me. And switching to spring scents helps show my excitement when spring finally comes after a long-feeling winter. 😉

I am going out to dinner with a friend tonight. Said friend is one whose birthday party I missed in February because we got about a foot of snow the night before through the day of the event. I must say that even though we do not live that far from each other, the snow totals were all over the place! Anyway, this is a make-up dinner and I am looking forward to it. She and her SO will be going back to Florida shortly. (I WAS going to rant but decided that the positive outweighs the negative!)

Hi Robin, I hope you’re enjoying Florida sunshine and beaches and nice seafood!
Today I’m doing the CP by wearing First Cut from the marvelous Diane St. Clair. I only bought the small bottle and mine is perhaps only 1/4 now and it smells richer and somewhat more honeyed, very beautiful. It’s got a nice assortment of herbs mixed in there to keep it from being too sweet.

The Dude is my idol. Really, I’m changing my name from Deva to The Dudette 😍

Wearing Liz Moores Salomé that I spritzed last night before bed. Will refresh when I’m done with coffee and breakfast. At first sniff after applying I always think, “No, it’s too much!” But then it isn’t, and the dry down goes on forever, morphing a million ways as she goes along. Very complex and layered perfume, and I’m thankful I have a full bottle. ❤️

    Still waiting for my tag…😭

    Stay well y’all!

Sending positive mail thoughts for your tag! I’m still in waiting hell with a bunch of the sample sets I bought a couple of weeks ago. One finally arrived from the UK and was missing one of the samples (the boxes for two of their scents look exactly the same, and they mistakenly packaged two of the same thing in the set), so back to waiting on that one scent. One appears, from my limited Spanish, to have cleared the international transit centre in Spain a week ago, but no updates since. One, fortunately, is safe and sound in a locker at my mail receiving service across the border, and I will get it this weekend. 🙂

I’m wearing Goutal’s Mon parfum chéri par Camille. I really wanted to wear a Goutal this week as it’s one of the best presented houses in my collection, it was started by a lady (I always think of David Walliams in Little Britain when I read or hear this), continued by her daughter and has a female in house perfumer.
Also, Camille Goutal created this to honour her mother. And it’s just drop dead gorgeous in a very unapproachable way, it means business and I love it.

Austen fan I agree with everything you said. But let me add this: the bottle is amazing lol. I have the EDT in the reddish-purple colour, with the black striped silk ribbon. I would have bought this scent just for the bottle.

I have both the EDP and EDT in the purple bottle, the ribbons on my bottles are navy though. I got really lucky with MPCPC as I bought both bottles used on eBay for a fraction of the original price. I think at the time a lot of people had bought this unsniffed and didn’t like it. There were loads of used/partial bottles for sale when I looked.

is there a huge defference between the EDT and EDP? There didn’t seem to be many reviews for the EDP.

`The EDP is even stronger and perhaps a bit more rounded, but all in all not a huge difference. I tend to wear the EDP more because I own more of it.

My mom was in town this week, and we did a little shopping…including buying a bottle of Chanel Bois des Iles to share! She is doing more traveling the next couple months, so the bottle gets to stay at my house before we split it.

So this is a lovely ode to my nutty, sweet, wacky Mama who is mellowing into the best version of herself that I have known. And now I get to be my best version of myself with her – just two ladies being kind to each other.

Wearing Dioramour after a very unpleasant trip to the dentist for a cleaning after a night of very little sleep. The rest of the day can only get better, as I plan to have a delicious poppyseed muffin with lunch.

I like my dentist but once I felt like crying. The hygenist was so nice, and explained people often feel vulnerable in her chair. I feel for you. I’ve never smelled that Dior but I bet you smell great and hope the muffin’s delicious.

I dislike the new dentist I have and want to find someone else. He is the son of my old dentist but not nearly as nice. I had a panic attack & crying episode the one time he did fillings on me because of the equipment he uses (big plastic mouthpiece). He was totally unsympathetic and lacking in compassion. The hygienist is his wife and is not gentle.

That’s awful! I switched dentist after the last one made me cry. I have perpetual teeth problems and anxiety in general. We go through enough and deserve a little compassion. I’m sorry.

I’m in Jicky today, was aiming for comfort and strength but I don’t think anything’s a match for today and this moment in time. So scared about my upcoming surgery, and so many heavy things to take care of this week to make sure that all my accounts are properly set up to provide for Biscuit if God forbid something went terribly wrong. I just want to curl up in bed with a tea and a good book but, well, miles to go before I sleep…

Aww, sorry you are so stressed! Do you have a cat sitter or a friend who will be checking on Biscuit? I know the worry you’re feeling because I had the same issue a couple of years ago when I had surgery and had leave my doggo in a kennel. I also made a friend of mine swear that if I died she would come get my dog and keep her until a good home could be found for her. I gave the kennel her name and phone number in case I died and then I felt much better knowing she would be taken care of. Do you have a friend of family member who would swear to you they’d do the same for Biscuit? As far as the surgery is concerned, and I’m sure you don’t want to share details, but the OR is one of the safest places in a hospital and I hope your recovery is speedy so you get back to Biscuit Baby! 🐱

Robin I hope you are having a nice vacation. My son asked me today what Bob Dylan album I would recommend he listen to. I said I didn’t know because I don’t listen to Bob Dylan. ( sorry!) But I told him I would ask you. Being a true fan, I figured you would recommend something other than the popular stuff that I know.

Third album, if he is still standing, The Freewheelin Bob Dylan.

    Posting VERY late today!

I was watching a crane drop roofing materials onto the top of my apartment building at lunchtime this afternoon. All the roofs are being replaced in the complex, probably due to the big hail storm that came thru the area last summer.

SOTD = commando twins with Robin. 😇 But wearing the January Special on my shins today. I think I have one more application left of the Boyfriend Body Creme, and then it will be thunked.

Haven’t made it through all the comments yet, and I think I missed out on yesterday’s, too. It’s been three very long work days.

Commando all day, just grabbed Ineke Scarlet Larkspur, haven’t worn it in years. Pretty sure tired was a blind buy. It’s not my usual fare, but I do like it occasionally. It’s fruity, but a little sour, so I’m not overwhelmed by the sweet.
