Today I’m in Popeline Blanche from Zara. Gosh, I really like this one too! At first spray it reminds me of a traditional cologne, and 4711 was the very first thing that popped into my head. I just checked fragrantica and a couple of other people have mentioned 4711 too. The dry down is very pretty. I may just need a travel spray of this one too!
Madtownteen got her acceptance letter yesterday from the college of her choice.🎉 It is mine and my older daughter’s alma mater. I had no doubt she would get in and in our current internet age she actually knew last week, as her status on her account went from in process to admitted. Still, it was fun to get the official letter.

I know this does involve fruit, but not berries: I got a sample of Jo Malone English Pea & Sweet Pea recently, and put it in Ockeghem Teen’s advent calendar. She hasn’t opened that one yet, but I think she will like it because it’s not eye-wateringly fruity, and not berries (which I’m not a fan of).
Or maybe AS Sunday? I gave my sister a sample of that recently and she’s really liking it lately (yes, my sister is not a teen but she is also not deep into perfume and not into fruity scents).

I will likely wear Clive Christian Rock Rose from my advent calendar, which I think should be CP-compliant with blood orange (ahem, I’m sorry, tarocco orange) and saffron.
I’m just glad to finally be rid of the Oud Maracujá from two days ago. Good heavens, that stuff is strong. I tried scrubbing it the night I put it on, I showered and scrubbed yesterday morning, I’ve washed the pajamas I was in when I put it on, and yet still yesterday night I was smelling it. I like my leather notes a bit softer and more sumptuous than that one.
Yikes, that is way too long for a perfume to stick around. I’m with you on preferring more sumptuous, well-blended leather perfumes.

Have you tried their Phantom volumizing glossy balm? Like their lipsticks very much, but have shied away from this one, afraid volumizing means there’s something in it that would irritate my lips. That code didn’t work for me, alas.
Jumping in to say that I recently bought and have been using two of the Phantom glossy balms and, while expensive, they are very nice. I don’t perceive any volumizing effects and thankfully they only have a slightly minty quality and no tingling, burning or irritating properties that I can discern. They do coat the lips nicely and impart a tasteful glossiness. The colors I got are Desire and Haze and they seem like the kind that would work well on a lot of skin tones. Hope this helps, even though the code did not work. 😊
No, I haven’t tried much from this line because I’m cheap. I do have and love their Scattered Light eyeshadow pots which are just stunning, but again I got those several years ago on a deep discount. I’ve wanted the Jellyfish palette since it first came out, was going to buy it from Sephora at 20% discount but then said “Nah” because I have some big expenses coming up. However, I cannot resist 50% off for that palette! 🙌

I still am not feeling great today with some fatigue and headache going on. Apparently, my manager is experiencing the same fatigue right now. We’ve had an insane amount of rain the last two days, so I’ll blame it on that.
I knew I needed a perfume that would go easy on my nose today so I ended up going with Cacao² by Maison Tahité from a Ministry of Scent sample. Very decadent chocolate that includes a labdanum note so it’s even CP compliant.
You smell great, I like that one best out of the series.
Oh good to know. This is the only sample I ordered from the line.

I needed something that smells great on a cold clear wintery day, which has much much better driving conditions than last two days-thank you, gods of snow and black ice or the reprieve – so it’s Le Lion for the win. I wish the bright lemon-y start lasted a bit longer but I really love this in winter air. But it’s a great combination of this fragrance plus clean cold air-nice 🙂

Has anyone else been craving sweet perfumes lately? I think that in my case it must be this sudden switch between warm and cold weather – I just want to be wrapped in aromatic layers of tobacco, honey, amber, vanilla and so on.
I am wearing Or du Serail, which has labdanum and beeswax (Spanish ingredients). Delicious!
I did yesterday so I tried a sample of what must be the perfume of tiktok this year – Bianco Latte.
One spray was plenty and too sweet for me.
Honey, amber, tobacco, vanilla, incense, suede – now we are talking!
It hasn’t been consistently cold enough for me to be interested in sweet perfumes yet. The temps are still flip-flopping around.

I found several actually. On the cheaper end is EOS Vanilla Cashmere, Pacifica Island Vanilla, and B&BW Vanilla Bean Noel. On the more expensive end, Giardini di Toscano Biancolatte and Santa Maria Novelle Crema Corpo Vanilla.

I have so many vanilla scents, what have you tried? I can recommend Xerjoff Lira, Maison Mataha Escapade Gourmande, Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Indult Tihota, Maison Tahite Vanille2, and Maison de la Vanille Absolue, just to start with.
About a dozen different ones. I am beginning to think that vanilla scents are not for me. I normally don’t like sweet, but love BBW Vanilla Bean. Cheap thrill after a bath.
Claiming points for the saffron in Calligraphy Saffron. This is such a good winter scent. Luckily i slept much better tonight, so nice to be not tired all day.

Our spring weather continues to be all over the place, although now it is officially summer and it is sunny today.
I’m wearing Rose Alexandrie from the Armani Privé line, it’s a lovely light rose, not too sweet.
I bought this 10 years ago, and it’s a clear liquid in a clear bottle. It looks to be pink juice in photos I’ve seen recently, so I don’t know if it’s changed.

I was wearing Des Clous pour une Pelure, from an evaporating bottle, will have to think of something and mad at SL, this one is orange and clove, so it works in the summer because it’s sheer, although long lasting but very appropriate for Christmas too. Tonight like many of you it seems, I was in the mood for sweet and reached for Hanae Mori ‘Butterflies’ in Parfum version.

SOTD is Divine Vanille by Essential Parfums. I believe a few others have mentioned it. I am curious what your take is on it. It is not real sweet and I kind of like it. Very reasonably priced too.

They never did mak much of a splash, most likely because they were only sold in Prada stores. I’m sure they discontinued them long ago. The only other one I tried was Fleur d’Oranger, which I think was a precursor to Candy. Sweet!

CJ Scents Pumpkin Tobacco today. Notes are vanilla, tobacco, tonka, and pumpkin. The pumpkin is pretty strong in the opening and some might be thinking they are entering Candle Territory 😉 🕯 ehaeheh but it dies down with lots of yummy tonka and vanilla in the middle to dry down.

In other news, I usually take pictures of lawn displays . Christmas is a very popular one so when when I go out walking, I keep my eyes on what’s new and sometimes unusual. There are minimalists and there are some where the display looked like someone threw up although in a semi-good way. Yesterday, I saw a newish display that I knew I had not yet taken a picture of. When I take such pictures, I make sure to never step on the residents’ property. So, I knew something was up when I took the first picture because I heard a commotion by a window. After the second picture, someone came out of the house and asked in a saccharine manner can I help you.
I gave as good as I got so in the same manner, I just said her display looks “good” and no, I am just taking pictures. My thought is that if you are displaying stuff on the lawn, you want them to be seen and therefore, it should not be an issue for anyone to take pictures. She could have been upset that I was on her property (I was on the sidewalk and don’t think they own it) but if she wanted to be confrontational would have asked if SHE owned the property (the sidewalk) and we would have gone from there. What do you think?
People are getting more nuts everyday, even in the workplace. I don’t even engage anymore, I just walk away…literally and figuratively, buh-bye! 👋🏼

The other bottle did not leak. I looked at the packaging again and I am sure I will return it as the inside of the box had perfume stains.
People really can be nutty – I like Deva’s idea. Also, I know what you mean about the light displays. I prefer the crisp, taught and balanced look, but sometimes the “through” it up look kinda works – probably a color thing.

On the displays, I really should take photos that show how people decorate. One time 2 years ago, this one house had no fewer than 5 santas. If the kids believed in them, that would have disavowed them of the belief.

On one of my contracts (can’t remember where, they all blur together) there was a new hospitalist who was of course being HAMMERED because that’s the way hospitals are in the US.
