I’ve been enjoying the Mariage Freres advent calendar, todays’ tea was Parisian Chai — a black tea with spices and fruity notes. MF teas are surprisingly delightful, not overly flavored but with enough body for a tasty drink. Each day is a single teabag, perfect to start the day.
I got mine from Luckyscent, would recommend if they still have it!
I’ll keep the MF Advent calendar in mind for next year. Don’t want anything else to pack!

Quick question, if you got your jacket scented unintentionally, do you just leave it be (and maybe feel compelled to wear the same scent if you are to wear the same jacket again to avoid clashing) or wash it?
Wash it. Mine had to be dry cleaned and unfortunately, the dry cleaner did a poor job and the coat became “crispy” for lack of a better descriptor.
Gah — hate when that happens. Sometimes a garment can be revived/softened if it’s recleaned using an eco-friendly cleaner. The cleaners I’ve been using for years use something called GreenEarth, which (according to their website) employs liquid silicone instead of the petrochemicals in traditional dry cleaning, and they have managed to rehabilitate a few things for me. Plus, they have never shrunk anything they’ve cleaned (a problem I used to have with wool items).
I will have to try this, since all the sweaters I’ve taken out to clean have shrunk. I’ve resorted to buying a size up to compensate. 🙄
I generally leave it be, unless the scent was a sample of something I didn’t like. The scent usually dissipates after a day or two anyway.
I wear so many different perfumes and don’t want to wash winter jackets frequently so I usually just leave it. My one jacket is a pea coat so has to be dry cleaned. I do that one once or twice each winter.

I’m in Zara Livre Blanc again. I will definitely be getting a bottle of this. Now to decide which size. The 25 mls would be the perfect size, but 100 mls is only $39. Practically perfumemath free. What would donatella do?🤔

It’s IUNX, Giacobetti’s discontinued niche line. I was a bit surprised to try the Zaras and find three of the four were a bit of a rehash. But since that line was hard to find with BEFORE discontinuation, I’m not mad about it.

Wearing SL Poivre Noir, from a sample. It’s *slightly* more interesting than I’d originally thought: the top smells distinctly like Comme des Garçons Soda, from their Synthetic collection, and then it’s just pepper all the way down. I don’t dislike it at all — if it were the room spray at the room-spray price I might have bought it — but there’s just not much to it, and it saddens me to see the sort of thing this once-great house is peddling, especially at those prices. (Although I did buy the very recent Écrin de Fumée, which is not a great Lutens masterpiece, but its smoky dark-chocolate quality gradually seduced me and it was a good deal at the duty-free).

I’m back to work after being laid low for two day by reactions to the Covid, RSV, and pneumonia jabs I got on Saturday. Fever and headache laid me low Sunday and Monday. I’ve never had three vaccines at once, so maybe that is something I won’t do again. Anyway SOTD is New Musk by Dame.
Glad you’re feeling better – it’s six to one and half-dozen to the other re: getting all the vax over at once or getting slugged one at a time. I don’t have problems with the OG flu shot, but the others…blergh.
Sorry you’ve been under the weather. The CDC says it’s safe to get your vaccines all together but I’m not convinced.

I’m still in the dregs of Maison Crivelli Oud Maracujá from my advent calendar, which I made the mistake of putting on shortly before bed last night. It’s not a scrubber, per se, but I didn’t want to sleep in it and tried to scrub it, and it did not want to leave. At least this morning we’re more into the leather and somewhat less into the oud. The fruit lasted about 2 minutes in the opening.

Woke late, had a lovely breakfast, tea is Caramel Praline coffee. Went to bed last night in Ginger Biscuit but it’s pretty much faded, so chose Safran Troublant this morning. I scored a 100ml just as they were changing packaging so it’s in the clear engraved bottle with the heavy gold cap. One of my favorite bottle designs ever. Very classy with timeless architecture. 😍
One more cup of coffee and then walkabout with doggo. The past two nights my sleep has been disrupted my nightmares of work, so I’m not feeling very alert or energized. Hoping the sun and wind will work some magic!

i love saffron a lot, but sadly this scent was not for me, i think its the sandalwood note, smells like dill gherkins to me… Hope your walk with TRex will restore you

Maybe I should have saved it for Friday, but I am hoping I will be once again surprised by how many CP compliant perfumes I have. Revlon Charlie got mentioned over the weekend, and I wore that yesterday after an eye appointment. My vintage bottle has a wonderful galbanum and oakmoss waft going on. I think it’s really the galbanum that I love in Charlie. I seem to remember that that the best galbanum comes from Iran, and since Charlie came out before the Iranian revolution, I’m guessing there was still a very good supply around.
Charlie smelled fantastic back in the day.

Well, I’m originally from a small town in Wash state. I went to Whitworth in Spokane. In fact, the day we graduated was the day Mt. St. Helens blew. Way back in the day!
My wonderful roomie was from Colorado and one of the reasons I moved there later on.

Vintage Shalimar today, for a day that will be approximately 50% academia and 50% cuddling. Taking advantage of today’s mild weather to wear my new cashmere T-shirt, which is proving to be a somewhat confounding garment — too warm for T-shirt weather, to arm-baring for sweater weather…
Yes, I’ve had this problem with a few garments – ended up giving them away unless they were able to be layered under a blazer or something.
Ha, I also have this conundrum with every short-sleeved sweater I own. But for some reason it didn’t stop me from buying another one last week. Eecks!
Short sleeved sweaters used to be a perfect choice for about 5 or 6 weeks in spring out here in NJ.
Now I wear them over long sleeved T-shirts or turtlenecks in the fall.
Either my personal thermostat changed, or New Jersey’s did.

I’m continuing my theme of orange blossom and its relatives as representing Spain, so I’m wearing Neroli Outrenoir.

Kenzo Amour, because i wanted some nice vanilla note for my nerves. The first part of my mothers move in the assisted living was a nightmare, we had 40cm of snow in 12h, had to shovel out the parking space for nearly two hours just to make space for the movers car…… Driving across Munich in the snowstorm. Luckily the snow stopped when we unloaded! I showed my mom the furnished apartment the next day, it is a small space, but thankfully it looked cosy with her most beloved sofa and carpet, so she was happy enough with her room.
The final move will be the weekend before christmas, so there is more packing and hauling ahead (plus trying to keep my moms spirits up)

Sampling CJ Scents Lemonilla today. Notes are lemon blossom, lemon curd, citrus cream and vanilla. It’s quite yummy. 🍋 I stumbled upon reviews of this one a while back and finally did an order from this house. I ordered two others as well: Pumpkin Tobacco and Pumpkin’s Night Out. I prefer the Pumpkin Tobacco which had more tonka and vanilla in the mix to my nose.
All 3 have have really good strength and performance. I would say pumpkin is a tricky note especially w/ indie houses b/c it can go candle quite quickly 😉 but it’s that time of year so one must gamble. 🙂 🎲

How nice! I am familiar with CJ from the long ago makeupalley days before she started her business. Her fall scents are especially good, I used up a bottle of Boozywood and also loved one called iirc Darkness.

I have Akro Bake on one wrist and Dixit & Zac Yellow Lemon Tree on the other. The Bake is very nice, I smell like a lemon baked good, but Yellow Lemon Tree smells like lemon dishwashing liquid. Ugh.

In other news, I try to learn something new everyday. Sometimes there are articles that I did not think would be interesting, like couples therapy; however, I took a chance and learned something! The main lesson is there are usually better ways to say the same thing, positioning your comment in a more empathetic manner.
Instead of “Calm down”, ask “What do you need right now?”
Instead of “Yes, but …”, check for understanding and ask “What I’m hearing from you is …”

As for the therapy stuff, I completely agree with presentation being 90% of the problem in communication. It’s not so much what you say as how you say it.
This is how I try to talk to customers when they are upset. It’s all in how you say something.

Those ånd Perfumes intrigued me when they first came out. But I figured I would never see them due to very limited distribution at the time.

It is still limited distribution, almost like the Lush perfumes that are only available in the UK!

Wearing Iris Silver Mist and contemplating whether I need more of it or not. My bottle is down to 15mls, but I’m not sure if I want more. Will wear it a few more times to decide.
I have heard quite a few reports about Iris Silver Mist being reformulated. Is your bottle a current/recent one, or older?
It’s quite old. I should try to get a recent sample before repurchasing.
I went with Carner Barcelona Sweet William for the CP today. I thought I might eventually buy a bottle of this because I really like it, but I think it’s the culprit for my sinus irritation and headache today, unfortunately. So I’ll probably just use the rest of my sample and be done with it. It has some kind of modern synthetic ingredient that shows up other places and wreaks havoc on my nose. I am finding a similarity to Byredo Blanche that I’d not picked up on before.
That’s a shame about your SOTD being a potential irritant.
I know. I hate when it happens. However, I’ve just had a yucky feeling day in general so I think I was also especially sensitive to perfume today. I’ll wait to wear the perfume again for a while just to be safe.
Currently in Narcotica Doza, because a free sample was included in the box I got from KrystakFragrances yesterday (FB of Jovoy Psychedelique arrived). They were very generous with the free samples, including a 5ml of a Comptoir Sud (scent nice but boring, still appreciate it though).
Enjoying Doza: I definitely get the black currant top note, then it settles into a nice incense.
That Doza sounds interesting. My Krystal Fragrance order just shipped today, looking forward to seeing what samples I get.

I came to read the comments and get inspired by other’s sotd to pick something to wear. I’m choosing vintage Shalimar edt. I didn’t sleep well and have been out of it all day so this is the first I’ve thought about perfume. Shalimar is hitting the spot, it’s beautiful and comforting at the same time.

I noticed you seem to have a lot of the body butters by Dame. Are these the tiny jars (a few ounces) that sometimes come as a freebie or that you can purchase for a reasonable price? I don’t see any of those on the website.
I now have only 2 of them, Osmanthus and Orange Flower. I purchased them when Dame was offering 2 oz body butters in the sample selection. I’ve thunked the Rose de Mai and Tuberose ones.

I’ve had a lot going on the last few days. I haven’t been able to check in.
I wore Fleur de Chine today for multiple errands. I finally ordered my new glasses. The girl tried to charge me over $300.00 for one pair ( after my insurance) I had her take away all the things I didn’t need ( including the protection plan, that was a hidden fee) and ended up paying $67.00.
It’s the small victories for me at this point. Lol.
