We are having a beautiful start to November here! Maybe a record high today and the cool morning was perfect. I am slowly getting to know Coromandel, thanks to pfsh’s generosity. It was not what I was expecting, but my nose is always getting smarter thanks to NST. For my SotD, I’m enjoying Shalimar edc, because the bottle worked its way to the front of the cabinet. 🙂

O Unknown is all black tea and heavy in the orris butter. I love it!
I am waiting for reviews on the No. 83. I hope the coffee note is very prominent. So far, I have not found a really good coffee scent.

Iris tends to make me feel more cold.
In my case, it all depends on my mood. There are days when iris scents can be warm and cozy or bright and refreshing. The combination of notes also counts a lot.

It was only in the upper 40s today and the AC is on full blast in the office all the time. Many of us were freezing, as usual.
Re my post yesterday – the furs were lovely but I settled on a chocolate brown wool coat with a removable fur collar. It has beautiful tailoring and I like it better without the collar, which has seen better days.
Wearing Coco to go visit my daughter. Mom is coming too, it will be a fun field trip, I think.

1000 Flowers Reglisse Noire. It’s been a while since I’ve worn it and I’m enjoying its peppery licorice.
Forgot that I was going to mention I wore DSH Lumiere to bed last night post-shower. Does anyone else wear that one? It’s another really nice cold weather fragrance – a warm spicy chai fragrance that sometimes smells to me like a candle that’s just been blown out.
I have one of the minis of Lumiere, and I wear it in the winter along with the other DSH holiday scents that I have. I do detect a sort of candle wax note in it.
Her holiday scents are really fun. I’m excited to see what this year’s will be. Do you have a favorite?
I would say December. I got one of the coffrets of minis, and that was the one I found myself wearing the most often. That mini is nearly empty now, so I sprang for a FB recently, and am looking forward to be able to spritz away. I have read some criticisms of it that it is too literal, but I think that is why I love it. It embodies all the sorts of scents we associate with the holidays without any one element dominating. It has evergreen, spice, citrus, incense, and woods, but it is not an evergreen scent or an incense, or a spice, or a citrus or a woody scent, it is all of the above.
Nice. I’ll check it out. Going to Colorado soon and thought I might stop at her Essence Studio.

I’m wearing Nu Green, which is a weird scent, sourish, sweetish, not particularly herbal. Interesting is the word for it.

I’m wearing Papillon Salomé today.
Can’t remember who mentioned macerating and aging perfumes, but I can testify that this one gets smoother, rounder, and more voluptuous over time. When I first got it, it seemed to have few sharp edges that snagged my nose in a bit of an unpleasant way. Now it’s curvaceously graceful with smooth and slick edges that just wrap sinuously around the body. The only perfume that ever went “off” was a JM scented body oil, probably because the oil was not very stable.
Another day in the high 80’s, then a bit of rain with a cold front. Friday they’re predicting SNOW! I’ll believe it when I see it. ❄️

Wearing Bal a Versailles vintage cologne this morning, my favorite concentration of this scent. It has a salty aspect not like the ocean but like skin.
I think I prefer salty skin to salty ocean.

It’s gloomy and raining here today. I am wearing Lolita Lempicka. This one can sometimes feel like a wrong choice but today it is just right.
Yesterday I took 2 garbage bags to donation. One filled with coats and one filled with sheets. I found a 12 pack of lavender scented emergency toilet paper in the back of the closet! Lol. It was all I could find during the shutdown.

Wearing Amouage Memoir body stuff today. My grandmother’s surgery went well. My mother isn’t exactly pleased though. When my parents were at the hospital, the nurses and doctors were calling the home phone instead of my mom’s cellphone. So my mom had no clue that my grandmother was out of surgery until she had to hunt down a nurse and they told her that my grandmother was already in her room. It seems the medical professionals are not exactly forthcoming with info.
I’m glad your grandmother’s surgery went well. From my view point, I think the medical administration handling your grandmother’s data is at fault and not logical enough to try several numbers that would have been listed as contact info.
That used to happen when my mom was in the hospital-they knew where to find me when they needed my signature, but not when it was information I would have liked to have had. I’m so glad she’s out of surgery-how are you feeling? These situations can be very hard on a person.

I’m going with another Gaiman book for children, The Wolves in the Wall…about a girl who hears wolves in the walls, tells her parents and they don’t believe her. It’s a dark and light story so I’m matching it to Bengale Rouge ( from a Gaynor sample ) which is a perfume with nice contrasts. It’s the end of the academic year here so am marking a thesis and writing a report. I can remember forty years ago when I had to bike across town with my hand written thesis to deliver to a typist ( who worked from home) and the two week wait as she typed it up, twinking in any corrections before submission etc. etc. All the footnotes numbered and inserted by hand. So funny .

And that really is something! I remember being in college when the first mainframe computer word processors were available…they were MIRACULOUS…but anyone today would find it unbelievable how poorly they worked.
I remember typing out lab reports in college on my Mom’s old electric typewriter. I didn’t walk to walk across campus at night to the computer labs.
I used a lot of Wite-Out.

I’m wearing Edward Bess Spanish Veil, which says it’s a sandalwood, tonka and guaiac wood perfume, but I smell a boatload of heliotrope too. Really nice stuff. I want to try two others, Last Night and Kiss the Sky, which sound promising.
IDK why, but I associate heliotrope with spring.
Personal cp this week is fragrances I haven’t worn in a long time, starting yesterday with Diptyque Oud Palao. I really like this and am not sure why I don’t wear it more.

I’m continuing my chypre theme with Mitsouko. It’s a recent EdT, I bought it nearly 10 years ago. I love it, but have never sniffed any other versions to be able to make informed remarks 🙂
I just told Allo yesterday I was thinking about getting Mitsouko EdT. I see Jomashop (no affiliation) had it for about $99 so thought I would probably purchase it.

I’m in Maison Margiela Replica’s Matcha Meditation. I sprayed it 6 hours ago and now it’s a light skin scent. It’s a mix of green tea with creaminess- think matcha latte. On Sephora the notes say there’s white chocolate, which tracks. It is sweet. Seems lots of us are in cozy scents today!
I thought that Matcha Meditation smelled a lot like Green Tea flavored Pocky. The resemblance was uncanny.
Maybe not many people will know much about the Pocky reference but of course ask me how I know that? 🤣

Had a less than stellar night of sleep last night. The home inspection was this morning, so I figure it was anxiety.
I was told that no issues were found, which is a relief. One less thing to worry about. Moved my insulation-free clothes back into my closet and had a couple of good crying episodes.

I have noticed you use the Dame body butter a lot. Do you have several of the small little containers? Just asking as that is all I have seen. I would love to get a bigger jar of Neutre Musc, but only have seen the very small ones.
Currently I have 3 of the small containers. I originally had 4, but I used up the Rose de Mai one. The others I have are Gardenia, Osmanthus, and Orange Blossom.
I sure wouldn’t mind a big jar of Earth Mother…

I accelerated my wearing of this with therabbitsflower and calypso having brought it up earlier this week. It was nice, it was very very nice! It was woody, leathery, spicy and patchouli-ful; however, it did not last quite as long as I wanted it to but it was good enough.

I did not get to post yesterday. I wore Chanel Coco Noir EDP, another nice one. Since I was a poll worker from 5:15 AM to 8:20 PM (yes!), I needed to smell nice but still discreet. Coco Noir filled its role with aplomb (4 sprays).
