Vilhelm Parfumerie Back To The Roots ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 26 October 2023 5 Comments

Vilhelm Parfumerie has launched Back To The Roots, a new fragrance.

See yourself here now, in garden bathed in light. In this space of tranquil beauty, our Master Perfumer provides you with a moment of grace. Time stands still. First, the breeze brings you floral notes that are fresh, white, and pure. Then, green sensations appear: deep, fascinating, and woody. They whisper a mystical charm that envelops your mind and body. Here, the balance of this untainted symphony procures a feeling of delicate harmony.

Breath, inspire, enjoy. It’s time to calm down.

Back to the roots...

The notes include angelica, galbanum, petitgrain, ambrette seeds, orris, violet, ginger, white tea, sandalwood, driftwood and musk.

Vilhelm Parfumerie Back To The Roots is available in 3x10, 50 or 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Once I saw the name, I thought, “There has to be orris in it”. There is! Looking at the notes and description, I have a feeling that it may be too sharp and “rooty” for me. I am still curious and would try it if I happened to be in a store where they sell it.

      You win 🙂

It does not seem to be in wide distribution yet.

I’m speculating about what “driftwood” smells like. Perhaps we should add this to our current CP on “specialty woods”!

I always remember driftwood from Olivia Giacobetti’s scent for Andree Putman, Préparation Parfumée…I’m sure it is always an accord, but it did smell just like driftwood once I smelled it … like old weather beaten wood.

I’ve had home fragrance products like candles with notes of driftwood and I’d agree with old weather beaten wood, but with a touch of saltiness. Like the wood has been in the ocean so long that the briny saltiness has permeated the wood.
