This morning was a brisk 49 degrees when I left the house. That’s seat heater territory for me. It’s all good though because the sun is out, there is not a cloud in the sky, and I think it’s gonna be a gorgeous day.🌞

Today is madtownteen’s birthday. My baby is 18.🥹 Seems like just yesterday she was a middle schooler. Now she can vote!
Tonight we will celebrate her birthday with homemade pizzas, her traditional pick of banana cake with chocolate frosting, then end the night watching her favorite movie: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Who knew? I thought for sure one of the Harry Potters would be her favorite. I guess she really is growing up.

We have the same weather. I was doing a few things outside in short sleeves, and while the Sun was bright and gave some warmth, I finally processed that I was chilly! 😀 Even with all the Summer growth all around!

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan the first time we watched it, but it’s grown on me with repeated viewings.
Really failing at this weeks’ CP with Penhaligons Lavandula (I finally found a tester at a reasonable price). It really is a lovely aromatic lavender scent. Surprisingly doesn’t take me back to memories of my younger self when I used to wear it… now I just enjoy the scent for what it is 🙂
In other news, Shalimar Millesime Iris is out for delivery today (already!) and I am very excited to sample it after my dental appointment this afternoon 🙂 Finally getting that dang crown done!
You smell great! I think it is my favorite lavender perfume.
And Lavandula has basil note associated with caprese and pesto. So I think you can claim some CP points.

I ordered it off the Canadian website on Tuesday — you just have to search for it as they’re not featuring it on the front page, etc. Apparently it shipped yesterday and will be here next Wednesday (the glories of Canada Post).

I have been going through my boxed set of the first(?) 16 Etat Libre d’Orange scents and am finally ready to admit that I just don’t like very many of them. Some of them are, frankly, poorly made, and some of them are just not my thing.
I tried three in the last 24 hours: Putain des Palaces, which is cloying (although I can see things in it that people would find attractive); Incens et Bubblegum, which smells like cheap incense and a dollar-store scented eraser; and finally Eloge du Traitre, which I’m wearing right now, sort of a copy of Caron Yatagan and therefore nice, pine trees (needles + wood) and patchouli. That one I’ll keep. Next swap meet, I should see if anyone wants the dozen or so that don’t work for me.
I had the same response to PdP. The notes sounded good, but on me it was far from good.

I am in Versace Versense, but not just because it is an Italian scent, but because it has a lot of bergamot (albeit synthetic), and bergamot is an Italian ingredient.
I remember liking and thunking a sample of Versense ages ago.
It is finally raining in my part of Texas. After basically three months without rain, and a burn ban in the county, it is supposed to rain off and on all day. Yay! Anyway I just received a decant of Geranium Odorata, so I’m wearing that. Quite bright, just a bit sour, but interesting.
Yes, I was still awake quite late last night when I realized the sound outside was RAIN! I ran to the porch to look out and it just felt so miraculous and beautiful. It was a fairly steady but not hard rain and I could almost feel the gratitude of the plants and trees. Yay!
We must be in a rain-free bubble in northwest Houston. There’s been enough sprinkles today to ruin a freshly washed car, but nothing else.

I’m in the FM Magnolia scent-I have the shower gel, and a few of the 2 ml samples. It’s really nice. I save the shower el for my gym bag-my treat for working out, altho working out is a bit of a treat, too.

Wearing my favorite vanilla today, Nicolai Vanille Tonka. It was 45F when I got up but clear and sunny, it’s supposed to warm into the 70s, so beautiful early fall weather.

That schedule kills the entire family. I had to be at the school by 7:30, latest, and lived 1/2 hour away. High school started even earlier! You really had to be there earlier, the 7:30 was a have to.

SOTD is the original Bottega Veneta, a soft warm suede scent. I don’t wear this enough but always love it when I do.
I drained and scrubbed out my garden fountain yesterday, a nasty job.
It will covered for winter as soon as it’s completely dry. Lots of outdoor projects before the snow.
This is a nice fragrance. I have not smelled it for a few years now.
We have been doing some of that last minute clean up with our outdoor plants before the snow flies too. Hope that isn’t for awhile yet.

I suppose I have about 5 ml left and I have had a BUB for probably a year. I thought I would use the second bottle as fast as the first but didn’t reach for it as often this summer.
Saving SMN Eva for tomorrow, I chose Profumum Roma Alba to help fight off a headache this morning. Sad to say, the headache is my own fault — yesterday was our 20th wedding anniversary and we rather over-indulged at dinner last night. We did the chef’s tasting menu with the wine pairing option, and it was fabulous, but probably just a tad more wine than I really needed. 🥂
Have you ever requested a wine doggie bag? I haven’t done it myself but who knows 🤷🏻♀️.
We have, lots of times, but it only works if you’ve ordered by the bottle and didn’t finish it. Restaurants here are quite used to recording and putting the bottle in a paper bag, stapled shut in case some police officer gets curious. 😆 The wines last night were 2-ounce pours and Mr. G and I shared them, so tiny quantities of each wine but there were about 8 of them! Plus the complimentary Prosecco for our anniversary celebration, and thus my punishment.
Gah — not recording, recorking. Autocorrect, grr.
I just assumed recording was some kind of new law. Lol.

Happy Thursday, y’all! I’m in LL Cedrat 37 from a sample and Dior Homme Cologne. Calypso and I went on a sniffing expedition yesterday after a delicious brunch. If you didn’t read the blog yesterday, I highly recommend checking out her post – it’s one of the later posts.
The Cedrat 37 is gorgeous, with a perfect blend of ginger, citrus and maybe cardamom. The price is as ridiculous as the perfume is gorgeous, so I’ll enjoy my sample and the Dior I already own. I’m thinking I might like it better with more than one paltry spritz shared between wrists, but maybe I don’t need to like it any more than I already do. 😳 We both tried the Myrrhe 55, which was a spicy patch on me. I wrote ‘NO’ on the test strip of that one…
We both had more luck at Aesop, next door to the LL store. I sprayed Rozu, which I’ve been wanting to try, and Karst. Rozu just petered out on me. Karst was the real surprise! I’ve never been a fan of aquatic, marine things, but this has enough juniper, sandalwoodiness and something crisp and breezy to really work on my skin. The SA was very sweet and mellow. I’m not surprised, really. The store smelled so wonderful and the music so calming, I was tempted to do some Tai Chi. I resisted. 😂
Tried on some Dockers shorts at the thrift shop. You know, the ones with cuffs at the hem and the pleats at the waist? Yep, those. It’s been forty years, so maybe they’re back in style? Also resisted. Found a very colorful dinner plate that coordinates with a Fire King dinner plate I found at another thrift place, so I paid the princely sum of $3.15 to bring it home. All in all, a very entertaining outing. 😊

I’m honouring a very Italian perfume ingredient with the decidedly French Bergamote by TDC. It’s a wonderful scent that I bought early on in my perfumista career and being the greedy collector that I am, I got the big estagnon. One more day of work and then it’s vacation time for me.

I am matching perfumes to Italian movies and today’s is Nanni Morretti’s The Son’s Room which is a movie that centres on the devastation and grief a father feels after the death of his son. It captures the sense of the ground no longer being solid beneath your feet, and the desperation and yearning for the world to make sense and it’s a domestic movie, including all the small , trivial irritations that threaten to overwhelm. There is a beautiful scene at the very end where a glimmer of hope comes through. I’m matching it to Interlude, which is a rather chaotic perfume, a perfume that doesn’t make sense to me but which has small openings where beauty comes through.
I’m loving your series this week. I remember feeling reasonably hopeful when The Son’s Room finished. They hadn’t done grieving at all, but at least they had made that trip together and seemed to have attained a modicum of acceptance.

Wearing the last of my 8 ml Prada Infusion de Amande. Thunk! I’ve augmented it with the Crabtree and Evelyn almond lotion so that should help it stick around.

SOTD = commando, except for Dame Gardenia soliflore body butter on my shins.
Curious what size body butter you have? Is the small still a pretty good size?

Thank you guys for weighing in on the whole cleaning up after parents have passed. MossyBerry, I am very nostalgic, too. The pictures and slides are tough. Each situation is different, but one month? Two weeks? I remember the clean outs Jalapeno.

Re: cleaning up/out after relatives passing away. My Mom had sold her condo and was in an assisted living facility, so we did a lot of clearing out before she passed away. We also had a lot of help from cousins on her side of the family with that move. So it was a group effort.
That was a nice way of dealing with a very difficult time. All hands on deck. I’m on my own and feel a wee better hearing that. Thanks.

In my area one should really have at least 2 coats. 1 normal winter coat and 1 heavy sleeping bag style coat with a hood!

I have been wearing Bulgari’s Eau Parfumee au The Vert for the past 10 days as we are visiting our friends in Oak Ridge North, Texas & it has been hot & humid to say the least, although thankfully (as we live in the north east of Scotland) we seem to have arrived just after the ridiculously hot weather they have been experiencing here. Thought this Bulgari would be light & refreshing in the circumstances, though it’s many years since I last wore it, & I wasn’t wrong! Lovely to celebrate 30 years of friendship almost to the month – Kathy worked for a drilling fluids company in Houston & I worked for the same company in Aberdeen, we spoke for business every weekday & I managed to ‘blag’ a business trip to Houston for a week, we met in person & the rest is history. So lovely to see them all again as our last visit was 2019 pre covid. We have been eating out pretty much twice a day & are having a thoroughly fabulous time. Went to Galveston (oh Galveston) on Tue & had a couple of ‘firsts’ earlier in the week – corn bread & fried green tomatoes! Apologies for rambling on, haven’t posted here in some time – best wishes to Robin & all you fellow NST-ers.
