A distinct change in the air

Warm and woody fragrances, from crackling-fireplace smoke to churchy incense blends, always come to the fore once the leaves begin to brown, but this year there’s a distinct change in the air. Perfumers are placing raw materials with ritualistic heritage at the centre of their most intriguing creations, resulting in scents that conjure a meditative mood.

    Nice article and an array of very appealing-sounding fragrances. It’s timely for us because nancyleandros and I are meeting up later this morning to go sniffing at the standalone Aesop and Le Labo shops in my neighborhood! Can’t wait to try the new Myrrh and Ouranon mentioned in the article. From the descriptions, perhaps oddly, that one by Penhaligon’s really stands out to me. (I would add my newly acquired Arquiste, Indigo Smoke, to this list.)
