Robin, you smell great — Luctor et Emergo is so good! Probably should have bought a full bottle back in the day after my decant ran out, but I decided on SL Rahät Loukoum instead, and regret nothing.
For Banana Split Day, I’m wearing (what else?) my recently acquired CSP Vanille Banane, all by itself. As a test run earlier in the week I tried layering it with Amour de Cacao, for that chocolate-syrup feeling, but it was horrible — it actually smelled like something burning, and more specifically it reminded me of burning hair. Scrubbed that off PDQ! But I like VB more than ever: it’s like a great joke at the beginning, that big cartoonish yellow banana, and then it calms down into this incredibly luscious vanilla. It’s my new happy place.
Hello twin! I was actually thinking about layering something chocolaty on top. Thank goodness I didn’t! 🤣
OH AND I ALMOST FORGOT! Something I was saving for today: There’s a YouTube channel called DipYourCar, in which the host spray-paints cars with a removable coat of paint and then covers it with the most extraordinary pigments — colour-changing, heat-sensitive, shimmery, or holographic. It’s such eye candy. In a recent episode, he paints a car a bright cheery yellow, with little spritzes of black for that banana verisimilitude, and then coats it with a layer of SCRATCH-AND-SNIFF PAINT that smells like bananas! Oh, it’s tremendous! I thought it sounded very silly — honestly, who wants to smell like a banana? — but the first time I tried it I was hooked, and I had told myself I wasn’t going to buy any scents this year, but there was a sale on CSP at Sephora, so I caved, and I’m glad I did. It’s just joyous and innocently charming.

SOTD is Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Banane. Banana, whipped cream and vanilla. Definitely good enough to eat!
Since this perfume didn’t last longer than an hour, I tackled cherries with Guerlain’s Cherry Oud afterwards.
Dad is hospitalized and his cardiologist said his heart is only functioning at 25-30% capacity. So he needs to take everything slooowly and easy. I bought him a oxygen concentrator today, so when he goes home next Thursday, it’ll be waiting for him.
Sorry to hear about your dad. Hopefully he is ok with slow and easy.

Sending well-wishes to your father and an oxygen concentrator must be a very good thing I expect.
Your father will be in my thoughts. I wish him the best. My mother used a concentrator until she passed away. She was on 10 liters of oxygen 24/7 at the end. The convenience is that you do not need to be replacing oxygen tanks when the oxygen is finished. I am sure the concentrator will help your father greatly.

Sounds a little strange to me, but sometimes the weird perfumes are the best ones.
It is a very unusual and interesting perfume.
I’m wearing L’Artisan’s original Vanilia for vanilla obviously but also because in it’s review in Perfumes The Guide Luca suggests to “Enjoy it with a banana float, a sunburn and really loud music. There will always be time for refinement later.”

Vanilia is sublime, isn’t it? The most grown-up vanilla I own. It’s one of the first niche scents I ever bought (along with their Dzing! and MPG’s Ambre Précieux), so it has a place in my heart.

I love that TCM does that. They’re featuring Doris Day soon, and I wish they’d show Young at Heart, which has a young Frank Sinatra. And, as usual, poor Gig Young, who never gets the girl.

CP-adjacent in IA Whiff of Waffle Cone this morning, working my way through the IA sample set I got. This one is pretty much exactly as advertised, except in the first 5 minutes I get a strong smell of something burning, but it settled down. Not sure if anyone else gets that?
I’ll probably switch over to Felanilla later today to be more on CP.
I got the burnt smell the entire time I wore it. It ended up being a scrubber for me.

However, it’s so muggy here today that I’ll probably take a second shower and it will be washed away.
I get that burnt note in the first minutes of wear and it’s very strong but thankfully doesn’t last long. Love the rest of the wear.
I’m in the sweetest fragrance I own — Profumum Alba. Not really CP-worthy, but very comforting after an exciting night of sheet lightning and loud rolling thunder. And even some rain! My trees are happy.

Having worn various banana split components through the week, today I’m doing the cherry on top with Rahat Loukoum. I’m not generally a fan of fruity scents, but oohhhhh, I adore this fragrance.

Thanks for the sympathy . Our electrical company sends out an update every few hours pushing back the estimated time of restoration. Hopefully now, tomorrow afternoon. Our house is not set up to run efficiently without electricity. We have a generator, and several big batteries to plug stuff like my CPAP machine into, but adorable hubby hates running the generator full time… I need to get a big sunroom built on the south side of our house with those solar panels that are built into the sunroom roof… sigh.
Plus we got some more Handmaid’s Tale. The actresses playing June and Serena do a good job making their relationship very complicated and yet more or less believable, given the set up. But the whole thing gives me a case of heeby jeebies, you know what I mean?

Wearing and loving Vanille Galante today. I’m a bit frustrated because even though our air quality is only at the moderate level with smoke from nearby fires, I’ve had terrible headaches and sinus pain yesterday and today. I have one window open, but I think it’s smarter to close it now that I’ve gotten the cool morning air in. Hopefully I’ll start feeling better soon as I have lots of work to do today, and it’s hard to focus when you’re not feeling great.
But I am happy it’s Friday! I’m going to visit an art museum in the neighborhood that is closing down at the end of this month. I also want to go to the used bookstore that has resident cats. I don’t really need any books right now, but next week I’ll attend a baby shower at work and gently used baby/children’s books were requested. I do love the bookstore and the cats, so I’m happy to oblige.

Banana, strawberries and yogurt smoothie
I started the day in l’Eau Ambrée, then I was pouring my splash bottle of Bellodgia in a recycled Caron spray, and tonight for the CP it’s Faviol Ceferi Insomnia with banana-like ylang and chocolate and in addition I’m eating nuts if that counts.
How do you like Insomnia? I was just eyeing that at Luckyscent.
I really like it a lot. It’s a complex gourmand, a great mix of chocolate and coffee, coffee can go either way for me but in this perfume it’s a lovely combination, both are recognizable as is the vanilla, I don’t have anything like it but it seems it resembles a Kilian.
Mmm I love L’eau Ambree and should wear it soon. I only have a travel spray and have thought about seeking out more on eBay but haven’t looked for it in a while so unsure about prices these days.
So glad you like l’EA too, I think Robin as well, the citrus opening is one of the best I know. I wish I could help you locate a good deal for it, I got a bottle several years back when it had just been discontinued and on my side of the pond (UK) prices have crept up now on eBay as it’s no longer available readily at the discounters to keep prices in check.

I’m joining Robin in Luctor et Emergo. I always associate this one with the holiday season (Christmas, etc.) so it’s good to try it at another time. I don’t think I would love it in 90 degree weather, but today is cooler than that and I’m enjoying it.
Oh and I’m eating my kinda/sorta breakfast “banana split” of oatmeal, seeds and nuts, berries and banana. Unfortunately, no chocolate sauce here.

I don’t really care for banana splits, but I do love the cherry on top, so today I’m wearing TF Lost Cherry, and it is thunked! I can’t believe I wore it so often. Granted, it was just a travel spray, but I haven’t finished anything in ages. I wonder if some of it evaporated, but the case is opaque so if it did I wouldn’t have seen it.

I’m giving my best friend a ride later this afternoon, just an excuse to spend some time with her. We live pretty close to one another and text weekly, but hardly see one another. I’m starting to think maybe we need to run errands together, just to hang out more.

Not a fan of eating banana(I have issues with mushy textures like banana/avocado/mashed potato!),but claiming some points in Sira des Indes for the banana-ylang notes.I oversprayed a bit and today was really warm so it did not quite work out.
Late start to the day and I had so many errands to run,I was just feeling flustered/headachey and irritated by 3pm.

I like bananas but never wanted to smell like one so I don’t have any fragrances with a banana note. So, for today’s cp, instead I’m going straight for the sugary, creamy rich vanilla ice cream that is my favorite in SOTD philosophy Fresh Cream and it works quite well 🍨🍦.
It’s been a quiet, mostly inside week here due to the extreme hot, humid weather many of you have experienced. We’ve had dew points of 80, and yesterday it was 100 degrees F. and the heat index reached a record-breaking 120 degrees 🔥. Still humid today but cooler temps and the weekend ahead looks great. Planning to take a friend out for her birthday and visit a neighboring fest where a favorite tribute band will transform themselves into the Doobie Brothers. Wishing everyone a nice weekend ahead!🎶

I never did quite focus on the banana split concept, and I woke up today with a sudden desire for jasmine, so my Saturday morning perfume will be SL’s A La Nuit.
The weekend has started with a glorious sunny morning and one of my favourite fabric stores has a weekend sale of 30% of everything, so my little corner of the world is looking pretty good 🙂

Even though I don’t have a paycheck I must say I love not having an alarm to get up to. There’s been lots of layoffs in my field and some of my colleagues are competitors. I probably just need to get used to the fact that I won’t land anything until we return from safari.

I had a 20% off coupon so I bought a jar of Tatcha Dewy Cream.

More rain this morning. It stopped by lunchtime, but things are disgustingly humid. Yuck.
Well, my sample order from ELdO was a bust. I got a package rather quickly, but the contents were a full bottle from JHAG! Not at all what I ordered or wanted. No paperwork inside the box, either. I don’t have the energy/ambition to return the perfume. So it will eventually get rehomed.
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee, from the Sample Stash. I’d forgotten how good this one is. And vanilla ice cream is essential for a proper banana split. 🍨

I ordered right from ELdO’s US website. The tracking number they sent me and the one on the package matched up.
And the full bottle was a totally different brand! Weird.
Very weird! I had a Lush order mixup several years ago. My order and another person’s order was mixed up. I got to keep the wrong order and they resent my original order, no extra charges since it was their error.
Very strange. I would definitely contact them about the error, but I understand not having the energy. I’m fighting with a Fedex delivery right now, super aggravating.
No perfume CP points for me. I happened to spy a sample of Le Labo The Noir 29 that I got recently from a lovely NST’er, and got distracted from the plan to go with Sira des Indes. I dabbed on a generous portion and was delighted. I am going to put the rest in a travel spray; I suspect I will like that even better! I might cadge a few points, because I have a perfect banana and some Private Selection “Salted Caramel Truffle” ice cream waiting in the wings with pecans, cherries and some mixed berry jam. Once every few years is enough for me, but I do appreciate the super-sweetness of a banana split!

I concluded my savings bond saga today, and all was well!
So I wore the LUSH x Barbie body spray yesterday. It’s sweet and fruity and has a rice note drydown (which could be my imagination). I’m used to loving things right away but this one did not grab me like most of the ones I own and have tried in the store. Also, longevity is very good as compared with some of the other ones I have. The jury is still out on this one.
Perfect way to end red bottle week!

Last night we had a tornado warning and it appears that one touched down a little north of me. So scary! Fortunately the weather for the upcoming week is looking uneventful.
