I'm starting a week of incense with Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur.
Reminder: on 8/11, wear an incense fragrance, if you have one. (This is a repeat from 2015.)

I’m starting off with Nicolai Vanille Tonka for a cool, misty day. More like September than August and a nice change.
Cooler here too. I was up early yesterday and out for a walk and it was the first morning that I felt like fall might be coming.
Yeah, it is not particularly cool here but that light in the evening….fall is coming.
It’s Monday. Ugh. I’m in Terracotta again, so no cp points today. I’ll see what I can come up with for Friday.
I’ve had a bit of a queasy tummy yesterday and today.🤢 Hope it goes away soon.
I’m perfume news, I just happened to be checking out the Dame website over the weekend and see that he has a new perfume coming this fall. Sonoran Desert Musk. Can’t wait to try it!

I think I can swing several days of incense, so I’ll start later today.
Right now I’m in the non-vegetal smelling Bvlgari Omnia. No comments about “reeking,” but I’m on a different unit tonight. I think my bottle is evaporating, probably because the bottle design is the worst ever and continually tips over on its side or upside down. Despite all the grumbling I do about the super ugly bottle and crap sprayer, I did finally spring for a BUB. It was much more difficult to track down at a reasonable price than the last time I searched, so I’m glad I found it.

I did not know that you could still buy Omnia. Such a great scent. They haven’t done a flanker in awhile either.
It took quite a bit of searching, so I hope it’s legit. It’s available on eBay if you want to pay crazy prices, but I found it at an online discounter in Texas at a good price point.
After three very hot days, we are enjoying a cooler weather again. The morning was still warm enough to wear my most refreshing incense scent, SL L’Eau Froide.
It is definitely going to be warm enough for it here!
I’m taking CP points with Timbuktu, which is one of the few incense fragrances that I own that are comfortable in a Texas summer.

I could probably do an entire week of incense scents, as it’s a favorite category Chez G. But I wore a teeny-tiny spritz of Ganymede to bed last night and it’s still going strong this morning. Post shower I will likely switch to CdG Kyoto or something else very light. For balance. ⚖️

I don’t know if I have one incense, but will have to look. Anyway, today is No 5 L’Eau. Trying to thunk my second bottle, but it seems to be lasting forever.

Today is day 2 of my 2nd vacation of the year. Yesterday, I wore Lyric and watched the season finale of Granchester. Today I am in Kyoto and going to the Soldier’s Monument in Cleveland. I was debating on Coromandel parfum but I didn’t want to deal with the fall out from my mother. She hates Coromandel, even in the most miniscule doses.
I was very moved by that finale! I even cried at several points. Good job all! It’ll be interesting to see the new guy next year and watch how he moves into the role. Geordie is and always will be my favorite character on there!
The last 2 episodes were really well done. Still miss Sidney, though. Geordie and Cathy are such a good couple. Would watch a spinoff with Geordie and last night’s kindly police officer (who looked like he might be taking in the orphans).

I cleaned my coffee maker this weekend. That was overdue, so coffee tasking extra yummy.
Lots of incense in the collection, so Cdg Black for me today. Going to go to Apple store and get new iphone for trip. Last time I brought an DSLR camera and my best pics came from my phone. One less thing to pack.
I agree, I’ve stopped using my good camera. The iPhone gets amazingly good photos. I do miss having a better zoom, though.

A week of incense isn’t a problem for me, but we’re headed home from our long weekend trip today and I don’t have any incense perfumes with me. That said, I’m not sure I need an incense scent today given how much smoke I smell when I go outside. (There’s a fire just over the border in the U.S., about 10 miles from here, and another north of here.)
I think I’m going to try to go summery with Jardin sur le Nil.
Oh but Sur le Nil has an incense note.
Interesting! I have never ever smelled that in Sur le Nil, but when I look online, it says it’s there.

I decided on Ouarzazate for today, since I haven’t made plans for the week, and it was close at hand. Started out in Chanel Eau de Cologne. They are smelling great together!
The heat will be ferocious this week. Maybe some rain next week, so I’m grateful for that possibility.

Sampling a pretty one today: Penhaligon Savoy Steam. I’d call it a rose incense, but the rose is so sweet and green, and the incense is very light. Hammam ritual by way of an English rose.

Today I’m wearing Amouage Fate, and am getting a lot of pepper from it. It might seem too heavy for hot weather but my plan is to remain indoors all day. Yesterday I went out for a few errands and the thermometer on a building I passed said 104, which it felt like. Holy cow. I returned last Thursday refreshed after 10 days up in Michigan but am now wishing I could go back! The main problem with that is how much I miss my cats when I’m away.
I hope you can stay cool. I saw that some zoos have taken to serving frozen meals ( I.e. frozen slabs of meat) to their animals in an attempt to make them more comfortable in the extreme temperatures.

I experienced similar temps in Greece, and it’s not my thing. But I’m a Northwesterner, and just can’t do heat. (I did spend my high school years in the Midwest and my 20s in New England, but I’ve been home ever since and can’t do heat or humidity any longer.) I’m not well suited for the new climate order, sadly.
It’s bitingly cold with snow on the hills and no signs of improvement in the near future. Winter is beginning to drag a bit but the film festival is in town and I saw the very creepy The Innocents with Deborah Kerr on the big screen. A black and white ghost story set in a manor house, kind of Jane Eyre mets the Exorcist. During the interior scenes my mind wandered to heating, imagining the chill in the long cold corridor and the weak warmth from the fireplace. wearing Forte and Manle Late Harvest ( Gaynor sample). Very similar to Abel Black Anise but with lasting power, sweet tobacco. I would be tempted if it was 50% cheaper but $300 for 50ml is stretching it, and the Abel is $275 so not much better.
That’s a good movie.
Will have to see if that film pops up on TCM…Truman Capote had a hand in the screenplay, according to wikki.
And based on Henry James Turn of the Screw. Great visuals, especially during the dream sequences.
The temps are slightly up 22C today, typical British summer.

Today is quite humid, so Bulgari blue tea, in a blue dress. It’s supposed to rain this week so if it is a cooler day on Friday I’ll put on some Ensens Mythique, which I suspect is my only overtly incense.

I’m in Poudre de Musc Intense, and am intense. Oakland Feline just brought me a bird, no longer living. We glowered, well I glowered and he looked at me expectantly.
I might have forgiven him, but he brought me a mouse on Saturday, and on Sunday, when I was home alone, he deposited a very much alive alligator lizard in my hallway, which promptly raced into the bathroom. Yep, Ockeghem Kitty is an indoor cat, and this is part of the reason why. I know she is smart and scrappy and would totally kill mice and birds. (We don’t really have lizards.) She was an outdoor cat before she was dumped at the shelter with her kittens. I know she’d be a good hunter, and she so wants to be. Sigh.
I completely forgot about incense this morning and am wearing Un matin d’orage. Inspired by the thunderstorm last night.

Jardin dans le Toit today, I think this is my favorite Jardin. I like Nil quite a bit, but the cheerful fruitiness of Toit is a bullseye for my nose.
Cynthere, Li, Lagune, and Meditteranea were all not for me. I love them in theory though, lol.
I just rearranged my wfm desk yesterday in preparation for some painting we will do in this corner. I am not fully satisfied with the setup – might even want to change it up entirely with a different desk. I feel a bit off with the new arrangement. I moved my desktop tower from slightly elevated off the ground to the tabletop. It may end up being on a higher shelf when everything is sorted.

LVEB Intensément today which is lovely mix of raspberries, vanilla and patchouli to my nose though not necessarily in that order. I don’t get any of original DNA in this one. Has anyone sniffed the latest LVEB iris flanker? Curious how that one is and how much fig is present. I am not into fig really.
Also want to know if anyone has tried the newish Burberry Goddess…only just realized it has vanilla so I shall seek out a sniff. 🍨

We are having a wonderful, rainy Summer day. The gentle but at times heavy showers have been coming and going since some more dramatic thunderstorms last night. Then sunny times in between. I was drawn to Embruns d’Ylang today, in spite of enjoying a peachy weekend and now looking forward to incense! Ed’Y is for me one of those scents that is only a skin scent until it suddenly isn’t! Shout out to Hajusuuri: my *green* bottle of Jungle Fantasy is supposed to arrive today! It was going to be my first bottle of a Britney Spears perfume, but I saw “Festive Fantasy” at Ross on Saturday and I do love an ombre rainbow bottle. I quite liked FF, and Mr. Mossy said “that smells like chocolate cake.” He really surprises me with his reactions when I catch him off guard!
Now I have to be on the lookout for Festive Fantasy! Report back on Jungle Fantasy. I have the original and would like to add another one.
Incense – yay! I have plenty of candidates. I’ll start the week with Armani Encens Satin, it’s got quite an ambery focus, I’d describe it as a warmer incense.
I could easily do a week or two myself 🙂

I’m joining Robin in Copal Azur today and we smell really, really good! I get a push-pull of tonka sweetness and and ocean-water-on-skin saltiness underlying the incense in this one and a drop of fig somewhere off in the distance. Love!
Tea today is an orange & chocolate rooibos mixed with a pinch of strong assam. I’m quite happy with my blend and I might keep playing around with it to see if I can up the orange flavor.

Pretty sure there is no incense at all in the five scents I brought on this trip to wear. Sunday:/Monday SOTDs was Winter Palace.
Yesterday our daughter wore Replica Lazy Sunday when we went out to dinner. It smelled terrific on her, whereas I cannot stand it on myself (and included two sample vials of it in the fragrances I brought over for her).

For jalapeño: my unmedicated state on Saturday lasted until 3PM. I usually get a margarita on the weekends and it was yummy. I don’t drink during the week.

We had new carpet installed this afternoon. It looks great! And to keep it that way, we went to a certain big box store to get some carpet protectors and keep it that way. Unfortunately, we didn’t get quite enough. Hopefully the cats will give us a break and not mess it up.
SOTD = commando. Not even scented lotion today. I am chalking it up to sleep deprivation; 2 nights of bad sleep in a row.
Hope your stress abates so you can get some sleep. I am sleeping normally now after several years of chronic insomnia, which is miraculous. I attribute it to being happy at long last. Crossing fingers your carpet stays pristine! We did the same in the BC house for the same reason (planning to sell).
