The occasional lemming

Posted by Robin on 3 August 2023 8 Comments

More fig? Yes please. From Caudalie, Moisturizing Fig Body Oil Elixir: "This deeply moisturizing and antioxidant-rich oil hydrates and smooths skin. Enriched with a blend of firming Prickly Pear, Grape Seed & Argan oils, this lightweight, multi-use oil nourishes body and hair and leaves you radiant and soft from head-to-toe. The fragrance is 100% natural fig– sensual, elegant & addictive." $49 for 100 ml at Caudalie.

Usually my reaction to ad copy is “la la la I can’t hear you”, but yes, Caudalie, this does look elegant. Also, now I want some figs for a snack…

I got this oil in June, it’s wonderful. Smells great, works great and looks great.

This does sound perfect! I love body oils in theory, but in reality I hate the fact that dog hair, dust, and sand stick to me, which makes me feel like I need another shower…🙃

I love fig at least as much as the next person, and this sounds like a great body oil, but…

“The fragrance is 100% natural fig”—do combinations of words like this used in marketing even really mean anything?
