Reminder: on 8/4, for Louis Armstrong's birthday, scent a song. If that's too hard, wear rose for La Vie en Rose? Or wear something by Lanvin (he had a half empty bottle of some sort of Lanvin cologne on his dresser when he died).

I felt like wearing a rose scent today, so I followed Robin’s suggestion about La Vie en Rose. And since it is a French song, my SOTD is not just a rose perfume – it is YSL Paris. 🌹
It looks like after five cool days we are going into a heatwave again. It is already hot, and the forecast for Friday and Saturday scares me. ☀🔴

Cooler nights, but warm days here. I’m in Chanel eau de cologne-I live this scent. Crisp and beautiful. I still have my vacation intact-have to take time off soon, cause July went like the wind.

Rabbits!
June and July were unnaturally hot, seemingly an unbroken string of sweaty, muggy days, but yesterday it all broke apart and at last we had an actually normal temperature (25°C), with similar temperatures forecast for at least the next week.
I’m stealing a page from Glannys’ book yesterday and wearing the evocative SL Miel de Bois. I’m one of the apparently small cohort of people who think it’s just beautiful.

Waking up to some disappointing news. I thought a payment was going to happen on the 3rd but instead happened today and now I am in the negative. I am trying to get a straight answer from my bank to see if fees can be waived since I get paid on Thursday. I think I will wear Shalimar today for some comfort.
I hope they waive the fee.

If your track record is such that you haven’t had an overdraft in a long while, the bank should be able to waive the fees. My bank allows me to automatically transfer funds from savings into checking.
Scent: Hermes Rose Ikebana from a sample spray. Good stuff – I’m glad the CP pointed me to it. I don’t reach for rose often.

Just waking to what is going to be a very hot day. We will head to the coast this morning. I was too tired to drive yesterday and the roads out there are very narrow and twisty with a lot of logging trucks zooming by so I didn’t want to take any chances. Slept like a rock last night and I’m currently wearing SL Vetiver Oriental. Lovely stuff!

L’Artisan Parfumeur Arcana Rosa today, from a bonus sample sent with the latest package. I’ll match it up with the Pixies, Surfer Rosa, since that’s the first thing to come to mind. It’s really more an album, but one of the songs is “Vamos (Surfer Rosa)”…

A beautiful moonrise last evening and the sky was silvery all night, with long shadows but now we’re expecting showers and snow. Yesterday was so windy we lost power due to fallen lines. Anyway, wearing a sample Gaynor gave me: Wesker Deviant . I haven’t looked up the notes but starts as sweet, almost raspberry and it now more woody. I guess it works for the CP as jazz was sometimes regarded as deviant by the conservative squares.

My own tea cozy was a gift from a friend, is hand knitted and has a small woolly hedgehog on top.
SOTD is Histoires de parfums 1740. I can’t find a link to Louis Armstrong but perhaps someone else will be able to.
That one was my favorite from HdP.
The forecast here is nasty and wintry, but to be expected at this time of the year. It was very windy last night when we went to bed at 10pm, but completely still at midnight, quite a contrast. There is still not a leaf moving, but the forecast is for gales.

Miller Harris Tea Tonique which has a beautiful incense note on top and is very refreshing but annoys me with its name mix of French and English. Tonight it’s Lyn Harris La Poudrée, she found the time to make scents for Marks and Spencer, they were all good but this one is probably my favorite.
I always meant to try that one. I am forever hunting tea fragrances.
It’s a good one, citrussy and incensey.
I miss Marks and Spencer! Back in the day, I remember getting a lovely peach dusting powder.

After all the folks wearing ELd’O recently, I decided to order a large sample and see if I was missing something. Turns out, it’s still not all that for me, and it fades in a flash. Well…$ saved!
Tea this afternoon was a new one: Kusmi Boost. Green tea, maté, and spice. I prefer the Kusmi BB Detox, which is green tea, maté, and grapefruit. I will most likely go back to the spicy version when the weather cools, but the grapefruit is excellent iced when it’s hot like it has been.

I was thinking the same thing. Some of them I really like and others not so much. I accidentally put on some Eau de Protection last night and I really do like that one.

Melancholy day today. I had a good cry about Spooky kitty. She’s still hanging in there, but it’s hard seeing her in this state. Trying to take it day by day.

It’s blazing hot out today but I put on a few drops of Phi Une Rose de Kandahar. My mini was downstairs, (along with several perfume samples) that I rounded up since I was finally able to do some tidying of things that were on hold the last 2+ months. The kitchen table is nearly finished and I’ve set up my new spot on and beside the couch!
It feels good to get back to kinda normal.
Normal is just the best.
The older I get, the better “normal” feels.

In other news, I abandoned my call to Amex yesterday, as I may have mentioned here. Lo and behold, I got a call from Amex this afternoon! The supervisor have me an option to tag the vendor on a watch list and that someone will call me when the vendor is out of time out. Let’s see what happens!
