I am in Serge Lutens Bois et Fruits. It supposedly has atlas cedar in it, although I found this information only on one website, so partial credit, I guess? Anyway, it is so delicious! 😀
I had another session at the dentist. It was somewhat painful, even though I was given anaesthetic injections before the procedure. But the pain did not last long, although I think today I will avoid biting on that side. Anyway, next time they will install permanent crowns.
Glad you’re making progress with the crowns! Did I already mention that I have some that are over 30 years old and there have never been any problems with them? I hope you will benefit like I have, Glannys!!

I’m taking CP points today in Ouarzazate. I thought that this might not work in the heat that we’re having, but it is light enough that it is fine. I must get another decant of this, since I am almost out.

Some of the best sniffs I have had were when I wore incense in hot summer weather.
I needed vanilla today, but not the placid simplicity of any CSP, so I’m in the big, complex, muscly Givenchy Pi. I don’t love it the way I used to, but it’s 25 years old*, and tastes change. It’s still pretty good.

I’m going with Harvest Mouse today, which is a bit of a stretch for the CP, but I’ll go with: 1) there’s supposedly vanilla in the base, and 2) it reminds me of the elephant shrews and mice we saw on night safaris last year.
Anyway, it’s Harvest Mouse because that’s the third sample in the Luckyscent pack I’ve just picked up since I’m in the States. I’ve liked the other two (Caravanserail and Bake), but so far I’m not sure there’s anything FB-worthy. (I will need to try Caravanserail again.)

It’s very hot and humid here, and I’m working outside lifting heavy stuff for most of the day. Angeliques Suus la Pluie, and used my Gentian Blanc soap cause those two scents kind of go together. One of those days I started clean, I’ll end clean-hope my deodorant holds out for the middle.

I have always thought those two were very related, though I’m a bit ashamed to say I vastly prefer Gentiane Blanche. Both are very cooling though.

No thunderstorms here today, but there was a chance they would brew up this afternoon. It was super hot and muggy.
I dug out my decant of Un Jardin Sur le Nil for today. I have to say, I’ve tried on and off over the years to connect with this scent and just can’t seem to. I do keep it around mostly for reference, but I’ll definitely put something else on later once it fades. This one is so well loved and prominent, what with a whole book devoted to its making, that it feels weird to not enjoy it.
I don’t remember if I have ever tried Sur le Nil before or not.
If you want, I’m happy to send you my decant. I decided I don’t really need to keep it around for reference since it doesn’t spark joy.

Tauer’s Sundowner, for its origin story of Mr. Tauer’s memories of an evening on Elephantine Island in the Nile. I almost love Sundowner and is has good lasting power, but not as much sillage as I like in this style of fragrance.

Went to Johannesburg to pick it up,and yes it is beautifully done.Peachy iris,I can smell the Mitsouko-vibes some reviews have mentioned.Does it replace Iris Silver Mist or Bendelirious as my favorite-favorite iris ever?Never.This was one of those “I have to have it” moments,and I’m glad I got a bottle.I went commando so this has been my SOTD for Thursday.

I’m 2/3’s through my current knitting project and I’m trying really hard not to get stuck on Sleeve Island–the boredom of going round and round and round. I’m so tempted to make it short sleeved but I’m testing the pattern so I’m trying not to make changes.

I surfed the Sample Sea again today and ended up with IA A City on Fire. Probably not a great choice for the heat. Reminds me of SSS Winter Woods, but not as intense. An appropriate name since the world seems to be in fire. 🔥

SSS Winter Woods is one of those perfumes that smells great as a scent trail on me, but kind of weird up close.
That birch tar is strong! But I always get a compliment from someone when I wear it. It just needs to be really cold or it will suffocate me.

I’m wearing the last of my LS samples, Roberto Greco’s Porter Sa Peau. There is lots of ylang-ylang and a little rose, and I like it. Not a “must purchase” like, but if someone gifted it to me I would be happy.
Yesterday I colored my hair dark purple because I wanted a change. My hair is so short I can’t see it, so I forget about the color until I catch a glimpse in a mirror. The contrast between my hair and my complexion is high, and I think I might like it more when it has faded a bit. It’s a formulation that washes out a little with each shampoo. I’ll do it again with another, lighter color when this is gone, I like not being gray but I don’t want permanent color.
Fun colours go so well with short hair.

It still is rather cool for the season but a little better than yesterday, I chose Eau de Rochas which called for warmer weather. Tonight I am CP compliant in Miller Harris La Fumée Maroc, a fruity incense I’m enjoying tonight, all the other La Fumée and its flankers had cumin so they weren’t for me.
You made me think of one of my first perfumes. Revlon/ Ultima II Maroc. I just had a look at the crazy prices for it. Do you know it? I remember CM8 having it at one point.
Ah Ultima II, I remember the make-up very well but it’s the first I hear of the perfume, thank you Lillyjo, interesting, I’ve looked Maroc up on Fragrantica, it sounds lovely.

I don’t like the smell of cumin in cooking. I have probably had perfumes with cumin and just didn’t recognize it. I have heard it can smell sweaty, and I do not like that smell at all in perfume. That said, I would take sweaty cumin over ambroxan any day! Lol.

The only perfume that had too much cumin in it for me was Alexander McQueen Kingdom. WOWZA! Most of the time it doesn’t bother me.
Oh yes, I think Kingdom is legendary for that reason as much as being discontinued.

In Vanilla Hinoki, as it was sitting on my dresser and my hand reached for it as I made my way to the kitchen for my first coffee this morning. Haven’t worn in a couple of years, maybe? A long time, anyway, but it’s one I’ve always worn primarily in the summer, probably because that’s when I first smelled it and the association stuck.
Slept last night in Jean Nate, which I finally bought after about a decade of you all raving about it, and 3 decades of mulling over it on drugstore shelves. I paired it with Nice Bergamote, a favorite post-swim/post-shower combo.

Posting a little late today. Teflon Kitty had her annual vet exam this afternoon. She was not happy about the trip there even with the “chill pill” I gave her at lunchtime. But she was better than usual on the trip back home. I think it took a while for the drug to fully kick in.
SOTD = commando again, but I did put Bliss’ Lemon & Sage Body Butter on my shins this morning.

Thanks! I was a little apprehensive going to the vet on such a hot day. They don’t let you in the building immediately (COVID hangover). So we were hanging out in the truck and running the A/C to keep cool until it was our turn.

The pills take a long time to fully kick in, I’m always surprised how long it takes.
Teflon won’t take pills. So I have a transdermal lotion that I use. That’s why I put “chill pill” in quotes.
