Terre d’Hermès Eau Très Fraîche.
I’ve been cycling between Eau Très Fraîche, Eau de néroli doré, and Colonia Essenza these past few days, with the occasional spritz of Bergamotto di Calabria.
I’m guessing it’s hot where you are. ☀️
On the contrary, it’s getting cold where I am: I’m in the southern hemisphere. But since I’m mostly at home, I’ve been wearing Eau Très Fraîche and Eau de néroli doré around the house, and Colonia Essenza for going out.
Tomorrow is going to be an Encens Mythique d’Orient day though.

I thought the same thing as AnnE; though I don’t know the scents you mentioned, they all sound cooling. Also, another Encens Mythique fan here and I like it in any weather!
Germany, day 4: vintage 1970s Eau de Courrèges, which I got at one of Berlin’s many wonderful flea markets for a song, like 5€ or something. Still in perfect shape: I’m not sure it was ever even taken out of the box. It’s SO good, a cologne with surprising body and complexity.
The weather continues grey and dreary, with intermittent rain, and the forecast is for more of the same until next Saturday at least — not the Saturday coming, but the one after that. (And Canada Day is coming up, on July 1st: no fireworks this year, I guess.) Spring was really wet and grey, too. Ugh. Looks like we’re not getting a summer this year.
They cancelled our fireworks due to already bad air quality. 🙁
Here too-plus I have to work Canada Day, because of carbon tax implementation. somehow feels very Canadian (insert groan here)
The forecast here is 100 degree days for the foreseeable future, as well as heat indices 10 – 15 degrees higher than that. Not much rain since May.
You must smell great, pyramus! I love Empreinte from that house, so I’ll have to keep my eyes out for the Eau.

You smell wonderful! Enjoy your visit to Ulta. When my dad got really bad in 2017, our Ulta opened up. It was 2 hr round trip to the nursing home and just a mile off to Ulta; it was soothing to just wander around and sample all the pretty things. Hope you can enjoy some of that today.

Zero points for me today, or maybe half a point? I’m in JM Wood Sage and Sea Salt so no actual tie to Germany that I’m aware of, but it IS a cologne and those are named for Köln (or Cologne), iirc. Our house guest arrived safely yesterday, so we’re tiptoeing around to let her sleep in and then we have a very full schedule of wedding-related activities for the next three days. Still no a/c, but I have to say that it’s really enjoyable having all the windows open and cool fresh air wafting in during the early hours.
With all the money you are saving on not having a high A/C bill you should get a perfume! 😊

Thank you for all your advice and encouragement yesterday regarding my dental stuff. Some additional info in response to your comments.
1. I did ask whether one tooth at a time could be done. The answer was no. Ideally I need five crowns: three on one side and two on the other side, and I can do one side at a time. So the plan is to do three teeth this time and leave the two on the other side till better times (next year?)
2. Payment plan. Impossible, I am afraid. Maybe in another clinic, but I have had my teeth done in this one for years without problems, so I would rather stick with them. Their rules are that you can pay by card for cleaning, fillings, root canal treatments, but it is cash only for removal and restoration.
You all inspired me to make an appointment. Root canal retreatment next week (the CT showed that one tooth with a very old root canal treatment needs it before the actual crown dental work).

I’m sorry they are unwilling to do a payment plan for you, especially since you’ve been a patient there for years. The only other option I can think of, and not sure if it’s possible there, but it’s something I’ve had to do in the past. When I had a really large payment all at once for a big purchase, I’ve put it on my current credit card and then transferred the balance to 0% APR card as soon as I could. That way you’re still doing a payment “plan” but not being charged interest. I hope things go well with the dental work!

After I finish my jog, I think I’ll try to dig out the Jil Sander No. 4 I have if I can unearth it in the samples in perfume box in the closet. (I do so hope this reno is basically done by the time I get home from vacation.) If not, I’ll probably do 4711, which I know I can find since it’s a full bottle.
Twins, except I started with 4711, then rooted around for my Jill Sander No. 4. I have ‘8-90’s 4711 and the current version of JSN4 in a FragranceNet travel spray, and I love it.
Still no connection with Germany, but a bit closer geographically since I’m in PdE Corsica Furiosa. 🌏
It’s a grey day here but I think it’s mostly the marine layer which will burn off as the morning progresses. Waiting for the coffee to kick so I can get moving and take a beach walk with the doggo. Cheers!

A mellow morning in 4711 from the very cool, rounded splash top bottle. Since I crave big sillage, I decided to move on to Jill Sander No. 4 for the afternoon. It is just the kind of “and the kitchen sink” scent I love best. Wonderful rain today, to freshen the air and water my garden. I hope it pushes on up to Canada ASAP!

A second day of “The name is German even if the scent isn’t.” I went to a Sniffa in Portland five or six years ago and the sweet lady who owned the vintage Tatiana edp swapped with me for something I don’t think she really wanted. I treasure and hoard the little bit I have but I’m wearing some today. House is Diane von Furstenburg.

Another PSA: someone on Fragrantica’s Fragram just posted a picture of a Guerlain “Millesime Iris,” not the older Noel one, but one in a box like Tonka and Panifolia. I’ve emailed ShopFrance. I hate to mention something not “officially announced,” but I know NST’ers (maybe not me so much) are cautious and skeptical. Does anyone know about this? Hopefully, I am not passing along a stupid, bogus joke or something.

In the centre of the city where I lived is a Romanesque cathedral that was originally built on the square where the Irish-born missionary bishop Kilian was beheaded in 689. Saint Kilian ( feast day 8 July) is strongly associated with Wuerzburg, and his relics are in the cathedral. The present cathedral dates from 1080, bombed in WW2 and damaged. The building had a great smell , cold with a bit of sandstone or limestone, almost cold plaster. A lot of the buildings in Wuerzburg are in the highly decorated Rococco style ( The bishops residence has a huge ceiling fresco by Tiepolo) but I liked this cathedral because it showed the marks of time, a mix of different styles and rebuilds, so it felt human and kind of noble. It had dignity rather than flash. I was thinking of a By Kilian scent but I’m going with Chypre Mousse because it has depth and is grounding.

You WERE in Würzburg! Oh, what a beautiful city. I had a friend whose family lived there when I was in university, so went up there a lot. Kilian is perfect!
I did love the Romanesque exterior of the cathedral. Sadly it was decimated during the war, but I knew someone who worked on the restoration of the interior. I remember being there in late summer, when the cathedral displayed the relics of the 3 saints.
We went back in 2019, because Mr. Ockeghem was doing research there, and one of the main bridges over the Main is now a lovely place at sunset, because there are a couple of places at the entry to the bridge that sell wine, so you can get a glass of nice Frankenwein and hang out on the bridge under the fortress at sunset.
Ormonde Jayne Frangipani: German perfumer. It’s a nice scent that I wear very seldom. I used to wear my two OJ’s quite a bit, but they have kind of fallen of the radar.

Had a quiet day after the day trip to Oxford. Met my Californian friend for the first time and we clicked and were talking as if we’d known each other forever. Oxford is so pretty, a place out of time.
My friend gave me 6 Frederic Malle samples, Hermes samples, vintage Chaldée sample, I had prepared a package too.
Today I wore Paris Rose Enchantées and tonight I am in a mix of Rose Calisson and Réminiscence Héliotrope, smelling wonderfully of almonds but not too foodie.

Wearing a sample bought from First In Fragrance (Aus Liebe zum Duft) in Germany way back in 2014. We went to the warehouse and they were so friendly and helpful. They even let me spritz out some sample orders while my buddy Michael sniffed almost every scent in the whole place.

The smoke from the Canadian wildfires has returned, so the air here is in the “Unhealthy” range. I’ve noticed that my throat is a little scratchy today.
Taking care of some laundry that piled up while the painters were here. We are finding small things here and there that aren’t quite right which is to be expected. Almost the entire interior was painted, minus closets and the pantry. It was a big job. A couple of people from the crew came by on Monday afternoon for some touchups.
Naturally, we found more things after they left. Sigh.

I had to run some errands and my eye’s were really bothering me.
