I did not sleep well, so I'm groggy this morning, plus I'm running late. I'll be commando until one of you gives me an idea what to wear.
Reminder: on 6/30, we're off to Germany (you can do a day or whole week, as always). Wear a perfume by a German brand (Escada? Hugo Boss? Jil Sander? Mäurer & Wirtz / 4711?) or named for a place in Germany, or that you bought in Germany, or whatever you can think of to fit the theme. I’m continuing to empty samples and decants, and today it was a sample of Eau d’Hadrien. This is really nice for this time of year and the heat in Texas but it needs to be reapplied a couple of times per day.

I’m in Dans Tes Bras, which is a scent I love. I was given a sample and got hooked. It’s just so beautiful-I never thought I’d like it, based on the notes. Good SAs are worth their weight in gold-they will suggest trying something out of one’s comfort zone – next thing you know you have a different version of yourself. We had high temperatures and sun over the weekend, but back to cold wet and rainy for a week.
I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone’s SOTD is 🙂
Dans Tes Bras still might be my favorite Malle. If it wasn’t quite so expensive I could easily wear it weekly.

I reckon I can do a week of Germany, in one way or another: I’ve bought at least five scents on vacation *in* Germany, and some of them are even from German houses. First up is Brin de Reglisse, which I bought at the Hermès boutique in the KaDeWe department store in Berlin. It’s my absolute favourite Hermessence: licorice and lavender go together so well, and it suits this grey weather we can’t get out from under, too.
Perfect. I did not buy my Brin de Reglisse in Berlin but I’m going to copy you anyway.
Brin de Reglisse is such a lovely perfume. It was the first Hermessence I bought and I’m on my second bottle.
I didn’t sleep well, either; I never really do anymore. I just kinda take very long naps.
I am continuing with last week’s CP and will be thunking my bottle of VS Cashmere. It’s a quite pretty vanilla jasmine (in case you needed some ideas, Robin, lol), but I am really jonesing to get rid of some bottles that are barely a quarter or less full, like Priscilla above is doing. Maybe I’ll actually be able to see the other half of my dresser at some point.

Being retired now, I take naps too. Never thought I would do that. I didn’t sleep well either last night. Must be something in the air😊
I couldn’t pick a perfume today so I just grabbed Zoologist Cow. It’s a good all-purpose scent, and there are cows in Germany, so there you go.
Today the water is off while Mr ringthing fixes up the bathroom plumbing. I will be glad to go back to showers at home although my mom has enjoyed having us show up like vagabonds to use her shower over the weekend.

My guess is there are cows in many countries so maybe you can wear it for another CP. I have tried numerous Zoologist fragrances and some I love, others not so much. Cow I have not tried. I can imagine the reaction people get from some when asked what they are wearing with Zoologist scents. I have Bee and Civet, but no one had asked me😊

I’m in Tam Dao, day7 and I thunked my little bottle this morning. Will definitely replace it, probably with the 100 ml.
Back to work today after being off for a week and my schedule is packed, as I knew it would be. That’ll be good to help keep my mind occupied during the day.😔

Currently in Amouage Gold extrait and about to get in the shower to wash it off. There is something about Gold that just doesn’t work for me. It is something I should like in theory but don’t. Thankfully I only have a decant and my bank account is happy that I don’t like it. After my shower I think I will wear either Theorema Epic today.

Someone reminded me of the lovely SJP Stash, which I just adore. Barely put a dent in this bottle because I had it squirreled away. Since it’s discontinued I don’t want to waste it. But it is such a great, easy scent.
Plowing through these classes! I’m so ready for next weekend when I’ll be done. Have to start planning my packing for Iceland but I’ve barely got my clothes together. I did pick up a new windbreaker on sale, just in case. It’s a tall order packing for ten days. How much knitting do I bring??

Super busy! Spent the first 3 hours with one patient I was trying to get transferred to the unit. They didn’t have staff, so it was a game of trying to see which patient in the unit could be downgraded so I could move mine in. Glad I’m done. I’m already counting down the days of this contract! 😂 I’m ready for some time off!
Oh, WOW — I didn’t realize a suggestion of mine had actually become a CP! And this is the perfect week, as I’m headed to Germany (en route to Greece) on the weekend.
Commando right now as I’m going for a jog after a couple of meetings, but I’ll likely pull out Frau Tonis Linde Berlin as the timing is perfect on that one and I think it’s easy to find in my large box of perfume currently sitting in the closet in preparation for a washroom renovation while we’re away.
And I do hope you sleep better tonight, Robin. I also didn’t sleep that well…naps for all of us today! 🙂

Hope that you aren’t getting a bunch of severe weather alerts and warnings today.
Fleeting, but a very good scent for the horrendous humid day we are having today.
We have not seen the so promised rain forecasted since last week. The sun has been on and off and the humidity is terrible. Still waiting for thunderstorms to arrive later tonight, but I really doubt we will get them.
I’ve had 3 or 4 bouts of rain so far today. Wish I could have given them to you!
Started the day with some Monoi Tiki Tahiti Tiare, and am now wearing Akro Bake. The lemon part is my favorite; now it’s in the mostly-vanilla stage.
Cloudy today with a chance of rain. We need it!

Back from holiday.
Had a great time in France (Lyon, Cevennes, Dijon, Vosges, Strasbourg)
We spent our time hiking, reading, relaxing in the pool (our airbnb in Cevennes had a private swimming pool). I also went horseback riding in Les Vosges. It was awesome. 🐴🌲🌲🌲
And I think spent most of my money on food, snacks and wine. 😅
If you ever go to Dijon and you dont mind/can afford spending the price of a perfume bottle (from a designer private brand that is) on a meal, try get a reservation at CIBO.
Its 1 star michelin dining with very good french wines and a scandinavian vibe (wooden tables, earth colours…relaxed atmosphere)

Just did some armchair eating by reading reviews of CIBO, and so glad to hear you loved it too.
I chose SMN Eva for today, after spending Sunday clearing out Mr. G’s old and/or unloved clothing … and there was a LOT because he’s never been a “closet curator” and had accumulated literally scores of golf shirts and tee shirts that he hasn’t worn in 15 or 20 years (not to mention the many, and very heavy, Dale of Norway ski sweaters). But now he has decided to rotate his wardrobe seasonally, so lots of stuff went into giant plastic storage bins, and I’m really feeling all that folding and stacking in my low back. Fortunately, I have a pilates session later today and we’ll get me whipped back into shape toute de suite. Busy week, getting ready to host my MIL for several days and attend various wedding-related functions for my stepson and his lovely bride.
Yay for clearing out clothing! Clearing out stuff in general is pretty much my life at the moment. I am mostly using a local kind of buy nothing group, it is extraordinarily satisfying to find people who want what I don’t want or need.

Last night I tried a sample from a nice NSTer of Hermessence Myrrhe Eglantine. OMG I am in love. Unfortunately, I do not like the price tag. Wish some of these scents came in smaller sizes. I would definitely love a bottle, but not finding the need to spend over $300 for it. Oh, well.
Today I am wearing Dusita Splendiris. This one has been a bit of a staple for me this summer.

I have a 15 ml spray of ME…if they don’t have them in stock right now, check back later because I think they do usually. I think you still have to buy them in sets of 4 Hermessences, but they’re pretty easy to split in the splitmeet.

Wearing a few sprays of Chanel No. 19 edt. I also didn’t sleep well, hotel room air conditioning units, etc. I had to listen to a few Persolaise YT videos; possibly fell asleep at 4:30.
My lemon loaf ended up being pretty good but I will replenish the baking soda, just in case. I don’t bake too much but if I get the urge to at least this will be refreshed.
I think I will need a few more sprays of No. 19.
ugh, A/C and fan noises keep me wide awake. White noise doesn’t work for me. Hope you sleep well tonight to make up for last night.

Hello friends, I’m decidedly off-CP in Slowdive today. (The Netherlands are close to Germany, though–does that count?) I seem to be doomed to feel peeved every day now: my external keyboard isn’t working, the contractors for our backyard hardscaping are literally months behind schedule and being unresponsive, and I have a throat so sore that my voice is almost an octave lower than normal. (I checked with a piano.) So that’s my grumpy day. Hope yours is better!

Strawberries, banana and yogurt smoothie
On an impulse I spayed a mix of Olène and Boucheron Quatre intense this morning because I knew I wanted heavy duty citrus with all that jasmine which can be a bit much in summer even though at 22C the weather is quite breezy today. Tonight I’m wearing vintage l’Air du Temps edp from a lovely gold canister which is my favorite version, I find edt a bit wan tbh and extrait of l’AdT is fragile so I only have a mini in the fridge to be on the safe side .
I miss Olène, so pretty!

Have been in Shalimar Eau de Cologne last couple of days. It’s Shalimar but fits nicely with our weather. Today is cool and rainy, which we need. So, a full-on summer scent like I was wearing last week just doesn’t seem appropriate. But I’m not in the mood for cozy.
Work this morning was calm, so I was able to focus on a project. I’m done for the day so about to do some floor cleaning. I did manage to put a new battery in my Dyson the other day, so it’s nice to have that back in working order. I mostly use that on rugs and carpet rather than bare flooring.

What a fun CP! I am cogitating on how to do a German perfume each day, but would have said before the challenge: “German perfumes – not sure I’ve got any!” Today, Escada’s Ibiza Hippie. This is one where the drydown wins me over. Wonderful windy Summer day here.

I wore lots of my decant of Chanel Paris – Venise last week and over the weekend. I wasn’t that crazy about it at first, but it has really grown on me. Today I’m back in Mx. It’s just very “me.” Let’s see: kinda/sorta related to the cp: Mx. is part of Eris Parfums offering and the founder of Eris Parfums is Barbara Herman. The name Herman is of German origin. 🙂

I tried Venise the other night. I thought it smelled like too many other fragrances I have sampled. Probably just me. I just don’t usually have that reaction to most of the Chanels. They usually smell different from any other perfume house to me.
I’m set to thunk a sample of 4711 Acqua Colonia Lavender & Thyme today once I reapply it. This was an extra in a swap with a generous NSTer, and lavender seemed to fit the very Monday-ness of the day. I’ve got 3 other 4711 colognes so I’m set for most of the week. I rifled through my sample baggies and don’t have any April Aromatics samples left, but I do have at least one from Rundholz. I’ve also got a few options from Biehl Parfumkunstwerke.
A couple other things that would fit are perfumes created by Geza Schoen since he’s German or any colognes because Cologne!

Sampling Quartz today which comes across as a very 70s fresh, light green chypre. Not something my mom wore but still smells very familiar
You smell good, I wear Quartz every summer, it resembles Diorella among other 70’s perfumes.
Smelling lovely! Quartz was one I sprayed myself with at the pharmacy before going to work, a long ago.
Fast forward and I have a vintage 1 oz bottle. So glad to have it in my collection.
Loved Quartz when I sampled it. I thought it was Full Bottle Worthy.
Groggy twins with Robin today. It was also a busy day, so between that and the grogginess I am feeling quite fatigued. Hoping that everyone who slept badly last night gets some decent sleep tonight.
SOTD = commando. Did not have time even for perfumed lotion today. Ugh.

Sampling L’Eau Papier today. Eh, it’s a nice laundry type musk, that’s about it. I got a rice note that was very fleeting, and I didn’t pick up any sesame. Maybe that rice was supposed to be sesame?!
I finally had a relaxing weekend with no family/social obligations, it was really nice to just chill. We’re binge-ing the Bear and also Deadloch (on Amazon prime). Both have loads and loads of swearing and chaotic energy, but I’m enjoying both.
Isn’t it nice to just chillax?

I attempted to go into the city today but when I heard 20 minutes delay (after I got to the train station), I decided to cut my losses and worked from home instead.
This past Saturday, I spent time with my friend who has something going on with her pancreas and potentially a few other things. Anyway, she looked normal and was her usual upbeat “I am going to beat this” attitude. She won’t really know what is in store for her treatment wise – she may know tomorrow. It will be at least a combination of surgery and chemo. I will try to be upbeat for her as well.
Oh no! Sorry about your friend. When I hear “pancreas” and “problem” I get immediately concerned. I hope she does okay…
