It's Almost-Friday and Beer Day Britain, plus Global Wind Day. Birthdays: Erroll Garner, Waylon Jennings, Harry Nilsson. RIP Glenda Jackson and Robert Gottlieb. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Terre d'Hermès, for the slight suggestion of gunpowder (to me, anyway) in the mineral note. One of the places we love to bike and hike is the Hagley Museum complex on the Brandywine Creek outside of Wilmington, originally the site of the Eleutherian Mills gunpowder works.
Reminder: on 6/16 we're doing Close to Home...wear a perfume that comes from a local maker, or has your location in its name or backstory, or maybe uses a ingredient/ plant that is native to your area, or interpret this howsoever you like. Suggested by Kanuka.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hey all,
Today I’m in Boronia by Grandiflora for CP points. The plant and the perfume house are both Aussie. Grandiflora flower shop is in Sydney, so very close to home.
Portia x
You smell amazing! That’s a line I’d like to try-I sampled the first two scents, but not the rest. The Grandiflora flower arrangements are stunning-the plants and flowers you have access to are very different from what we have here.
Oh yes, Australia has some of the weirdest and most amazing flowers Carole.
We are very proud here of Saskia, her flower arrangements and her perfumes. She is also a lovely woman, still so real and warm.
Portia x
Boronia is exquisite! I wish I could experience the flowers in person.
Grandiflora does such a good job. Sadly my local perfume store stopped carrying them right before Saskia came out. I did manage to get a big bottle or two on clearance though.
And I got my bottle of Boronia there too, on clearance, on your advice, as you may recall!
Was that our sniffa at Kuhl? I seem to remember asking about Queen of the Night and they had none. 😢
Yes that one is so good.
I hope you love it as much as I do!!
Yes, I do!
Coumarin, if you ever get to Sydney we can find them on a bushwalking’s or varietals in the plant stores. The smell is so good.
Shame you’ve lost your stockist. it’s hard for the small companies to compete with the vast hordes. More and more we are seeing the little guys pushed aside. We have to be careful or many ofd them will go the way of Parfums DelRae.
Portia x
I feel the same way. Actually this store had Delrae too but dropped them maybe after Mythique….
That’s a pretty one! I was able to try a sample. Also, “Boronia” is a fun word.
HA! It is a funny word now I think of it AnnieA. Named for the Italian plant collector Francesco Borone.
Portia x
That’s a nice one! We have boronia here and I love the jammy raspberry smell when it flowers
Hey Kanuka,
It’s such a strangely beautiful scent in real life.
Portia x
Great perfume! It’s the only Grandiflora in my collection, unfortunately. I would love to get a bottle of Madagascan Jasmine.
Madagascan Jasmine is so pure and clear. Swwon worthy Austenfan.
Portia x
I’m wearing Luctor Et Emergo, for the first time in a long while. I couldn’t remember if I liked it, so I only applied a small amount. In the heat and humidity the vanilla is all I smell.
No cherry at all?
For the CP Bond No 9 Tribeca
I am reading the Couple Next Door
Eating Trader Joe’s Guava and Passion Fruit yogurt -yum
I need some of that yogurt I think.
Hi there. Had some air alerts last night and today, but things are quiet, so my town is not affected. I do not want to monitor air alerts closely anymore. I won’t go to the shelter anyway, and sitting and waiting for something to happen is not good for my sleep schedule or mental health.
Thank you for all your kind wishes about the meeting with my mentor. The meeting was ok. The mentor is a nice lady, and we had a chat getting to know each other, but I am disappointed by the match, because I do not think that she would be able to help me professionally. She is a school teacher, while I am not particularly interested in teaching, and I definitely do not want to work with children. So I wonder whether the meetings will do me any good. I kind of lost motivation about this program now.
Today’s scents: D’Orsay Tilleul (yellow) and Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Bleu (blue).
Stay well, Glannys
Sending good thoughts your way – really hoping something improves for you soon.
Sending positive vibes your way, and I like your pairing of yellow and blue.
Lovely scents!
It’s a shame that there seems to be a mismatch between you and the mentor.
So sorry the mentor program didn’t find you a better match, Glannys. What is she meant to do for you if she’s not in your field?
I am not exactly sure, but in theory she is supposed to be a mine of information. 😀
Aha. Maybe she can help you find someone more helpful, LOL…
No points for me this morning — the hand went straight to the bottle of 24 Faubourg. No regrets. 😍 I will take points for the Memoirs of a Trespasser that I wore at bedtime last night, though, as Imaginary Authors is right in my back yard.
Twins today.
How lucky you are. Do you spend much time at the Imaginary Authors font?
A fair amount. Memoirs is my favorite, but I also love Fox in the Flowerbed and Yesterday Haze, and Mr. G is fond of A Whiff of Wafflecone, which was a collaboration between IA and the Salt and Straw ice cream people.
WOW! I never heard of A Whiff of Wafflecone
It’s great fun, and not nearly as sweet as the notes would indicate. There’s a bit of a gourmandish burnt-pastry note that keeps it interesting.
I was soooooooooooooo asleep!
hate alarm clocks with a passion
I loved Glenda Jackson in so many movies.
SOTD will be Fenty.
I liked Glenda Jackson too… Women in Love with Alan Bates and Oliver Reed is the one that sticks in my mind.
Yes indeed. The thought of that sex scene of her with Oliver Reed still makes me have to fan myself. Ooo la la!
And who could forget the wrestling scene? Talk about beefcake! 😍
Today it’s Clinique Chemistry, which has “nineties men’s cologne” written all over it, but in the best possible way: it’s so crisp and sophisticated, with a li’l smudge of oakmoss in the base to keep things interesting. It’s the fragrance equivalent of a tailored suit and a pressed white shirt.
Sounds like a great SOTD
I agree!
So do I!
Hello all!
Cramming some calculus in my tired brain today. I did well on the quiz but I was up way too late doing work for another class. These weeks are flying!
I’m in Heeley’s Iris de Nuit which was one of my first samples way back when. I like it better now though I do prefer IUNX’s Talc in a similar vein.
Have a great day all!
I majored in calculus, in university. Wishing you well in your studies, and you smell amazing.
A pretty hefty subject. My professor said that the calculus is easy; it’s the algebra! And he is totally right.
One of my teachers gave me an important piece of advice, and it is this: It doesn’t take brains to get a Phd – just perserverence 🙂
Yes that definitely seems to fit!
What a bummer IUNX has shut up shop!
It really is. I wish I’d gotten a few back-ups. Eau Qui Pique was such a special ginger, and L’Ether….
Yay for the good grade on the calc quiz!
Thank you! We’ll see about tomorrow’s test, though. ☠️
I’m in Mona di Orio’s Dojima, which I love. It’s an amber and dry spice blend, different from all the other scents I own. I like the packaging, too-three long test tubes in a beautiful box lined with foam. Funny-these are the same size as the Frederic Malle 10 ml size, but the design makes it look like the tube holds more.
Hope everyone has a good day,
OOOHHHH!
Woke up cruelly early today (4:30) for no good reason. The to-be-sampled pile is getting unwieldy so I’m doing some sampling homework — DSH Breathe on one arm and Tsukiyo-en on the other. Both are little watercolor wisps; Breathe goes on with a whiff of apples but has shifted to something incredibly hard to pin down — a bit sour, a bit piney, a bit of smoke, but totally watery and transparent and to me, completely uninteresting. Tsukiyo-en reminds me of Eau de Thé Verte but is less sharp — gentle tea and greenness and a sliver of fruit. I’ll probably reapply this one and make it my SOTD; gentle and peaceful for my sleep-deprived self.
Uff, and it was 4:00 for me. Feeling okay so far, but will probably crahs by early eveing.
Or, from the typos, I am already not doing too well!
I think “crahs” is the sound I made when I woke up…
I hate those early morning “Stupid o’Clock” wakeups!
I’m in a completely random bottle of honeysuckle perfume that I picked up off the sale table at Essenza in Seattle probably 15 years ago. So…CP-compliant because I lived in Seattle back then, and because I used to have a honeysuckle plant in my back yard here at home (but it kept getting pests and didn’t have enough light so that was that), and because the honeysuckle is blooming here now.
Anyway, it’s an Italian house I’ve never seen before or since: Derbe Profumo Caprifoglio. There’s a cute bow on the cap.
Seems to be Pretty Floral day here today, which is great. Am in the Bulgari blue tea, which is…lavender, iris and violet?
That sounds lovely — I haven’t tried that one, but have the Black Tea.
I love that one. So pretty.
You smell lovely! I have a bottle of that one, gifted to me by a very kind NSTer.
Sotd is Miss Dior Originale. It’s close to home because my mother wore it so it has comforting scent memories associated with it.
Heading off tonight for a 3 week vacation – walking in the Cotswolds for a week, then a week in the Loire Valley to visit some favorite winemakers, bike and ride a horse for the first time in quite awhile😬, and a week in Paris where perfume will figure prominently.
I’m really looking forward to the trip and a break from work. We usually take 2 weeks off in the summer but decided to make it a longer trip since it’s quite a journey from the PNW✈️😊☀️
Yay and yes for a longer trip. It’s going to be so amazing!!
Thank you SP💕
What a great trip! Have a fabulous time!
Thank you, Gail! I’ll be sniffing around for rooty iris fragrances along the way🌷
Have a most wonderful trip!! Bon voyage!
Merci mon amie!✈️
What a wonderful trip! Yay!
Thank you, ockeghem! It seems surreal to be leaving after so much planning but I think we’re ready💃
Your trip sounds dreamy.
Being in France and speaking French is a lifelong dream. I always regret not studying in France while I was in college but trips are the next best thing🇫🇷❤️
Will you be spending time in the south of France again this year?
Absolutely, it’s never too late, hope you will get to practice a lot and the Loire valley is so romantic. Yes, you remember well I’ll go to Provence again, late summer.
Safe travels! Enjoy that fabulous trip!
Thank you, friend🌹
Wow, have a great holiday …what a perfect mix of activities.
I’m really looking forward to the mix, especially since I have a career that has me sitting a lot.
The Loire valley is wonderful, are you planning to visit any castles?
I’m not sure if we will specifically this trip but I hope to pass by them on horseback😊
What a magnificent vacation! Enjoy!!
Thank you, Vee💕
Tonight?! Yay! Don’t forget to leave room in your suitcase for perfumes you’ll bring back. 😄
We were looking at walking vacations a wile ago, and the Cotswolds one was very tempting. Do report back!
In the end, we opted for Japan, but it was cancelled when Covid protocols were re-imposed. Sigh. Maybe some day.
Absolutely!
I’ll definitely report back. We “borrowed” a guide company’s itinerary so I’ll let you know how it goes.
You made your own tour? Good for you! 👍🏻
Have a wonderful time, allo! Sounds like a dream vacation.
Thanks so much, ringthing. I’m feeling a lot of gratitude for the opportunity.
Bon Voyage! Looking forward to the stories you can tell when you get back.
Merci, Jalapeno! Stories will abound💃
Have a super great and safe trip!
Thank you, lillyo! I’m going to try to stay on the horse😬💕
Oooh, have fun!
Thank you, hajusuuri! It’s going to be an 8 spray vacation🌹💃
Tam Dao today which I bought from a lovely local perfume shop with a lovely local perfume friend. I think I can wear Tam Dao in any season. Such a smooth, meditative, calming fragrance. Saving one more CP-relevant fragrance for tomorrow that has a funny story with it.
Tam Dao really is year-round lovely and calm. I feel the same way about Papyrus.
Yes, it’s a rare year-round one.
Is your Tam Dao the EdT or EdP?
I have the EdT.
Wearing Bal a Versailles today, which is maybe a little spicy for a workday but it’s the last day before my vacation so I think I’ve earned it. And it’s a nice contrast with the rain and wind outside. My perfume cravings are very weather influenced.
You smell divine.
Sampling Mayan Chocolate from Aether Arts (for my 4th Colorado company in 4 days). It is complex and interesting and I can see why it won an Art and Olfaction award last year
Aether Arts is such an interesting niche company. I met Amber at Dawn’s Essence Studio. Maybe you have also?
No I haven’t met her
She worked at the studio for a while (maybe still?). Initially I think she was kind of “apprenticing” to learn from Dawn. I could have that wrong, though.
We are supposed to get thunderstorms this evening and my cleaning is done. About to get in the shower and either wear Lyric or Eau Premiere, I haven’t decided yet.
Can’t go wrong with either of those, yum.
SOTD is Neroli Outrenoir. For all the orange and lemon blossoms around me. My one mini meyer lemon tree is not doing well. It blossomed so wonderfully in early Spring, but then a sudden heat wave must have shocked it because it started losing all its leaves. Now there are two lone leaves remaining, and little fruit that is not growing much. I hope all is not lost and it will revive.
Have a wonderful day, everyone. Almost the weekend!!!
Hope the tree can be rescued.
I love your scent of the day 🙂
Hope your little lemon tree makes it!
I had Meyer lemons for the first time last week. I juiced one into a sparkling lemonade and put the second into some pickled chillies — I loved how sweet and floral it is.
In Bond No.9 Brooklyn for the CP.
Another warm, muggy, cloudy day. Weird and uncomfortable. Counting the hours for the day to be over.
Happy Thursday! ☕️
I hope the worst part of your day passes quickly . I’ve never smelled any of the Bond perfumes but they sound good.
I did not really notice much humidity when I was outside earlier today. Thankful that it did not feel like a huge ugly wet blanket!
My mother in law has a huge od Wisteria vine that she has been hacking away at for years, trying to get it in der control. This is the first year the thing has bloomed since she moved into that house. So today, I am wearing Dame’s Wisteria Soliflore…why scrambling around like crazy getting ready to go to Wyoming. Adorable Hubby’s solid tumor has shrunk to half the size it was when they found it, so this is very good news! Going to Wyoming will be a celebration of sorts!
Wonderful news about hubby’s tumor. May the progress continue. And yes, celebration-worthy.
🙂
So glad to hear that there’s progress!
Yes, such a relief!
Is the wisteria like real life wisteria?
YAY for shrinking tumors!
Yay for shrinking tumors!
The wisteria main stalk is too big to get both hands around-it is still a beast after years of them trimming and trying to shape a bit. I grows up and over a very sturdy corner arbor that is a good outside dining room. The corner posts of the arbor are 6×6 inch square posts.. who ever planted that planned head!
Glad of the health news.
Great news!
Me too, thanks.Yes it is. Adorable hubby is so relieved.
Such wonderful news! Have a great time celebrating in Wyoming.
Yes, it will be more fun being there this way!
That is such good news about the tumour, and so worth celebrating. Lots of love to you both!
Thanks, ItIs like the world which had narrowed down so much is opening up again!
So happy for you both. And, the smell of wisteria on a warm evening is, well, a bucket list event.
What a lovely way to look at it.
Wonderful news!
I know wisteria can get destructive if not managed, but I do love how it looks when it runs wild.
Ah, great news! 👍🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Enjoy your trip!
Wonderful news, that will make your trip really special.
Awesome news about Adorable Hubby! So Happy Trails to you both.
That’s such wonderful news! Have a wonderful vacation.
It’s a weird week for me. My company did layoffs for the first time in the 9+ years since I’ve worked there. One of my teammates was let go. We’ve been having a hard time financially this last year, but this was still completely unexpected. So it’s been a sad and confusing time.
But the good part of the weird week has begun. Today is my partner’s 40th birthday, and we’ve taken today and tomorrow off work plus we have Monday off for Juneteenth. So we’ll do whatever he wants today and enjoy plenty other days of freedom.
I’ll probably wear something from House of Matriarch today since they’re a local company. I was hoping to wear a different brand every day, but we’ll see if I can think of a 5th local brand for Friday. I may have to pick one I’ve already worn this week. Yesterday I wore the gorgeous Cafe V from Olympic Orchids and Tuesday wore the equally gorgeous Pirouette Essentials Rose Musk, both also local brands (Seattle).
Layoffs are so hard, I’m sorry to hear about your teammate 🙁 Hope you and the team adjust in time.
Thank you, pfsh.
I hope you have a happy weekend after your stressful week
Thanks, Kanuka. Today was a good start to the long weekend.
Yuck, sorry to hear about the layoffs.
Thanks, Jalapeno.
Eeek, sorry to hear about the layoffs. Enjoy your time off.
Thank you, hajusuuri.
That’s so upsetting! Hope the weekend will be peaceful.
Thanks, Robin. Today was nice, so it’s a good start.
Banana, strawberries and yogurt smoothie
I picked 24 Faubourg , vintage EDT today and it kept me happy all day although it felt too elegant for my yellow track suit bottom and Breton top.
Tonight it’s the turn of Mont-Blanc Femme, I have both the EDT 30ml and the EDP 75ml, as it turns out I like the EDT better, it’s more sparkling, Fragrantica doesn’t make the distinction between the two. It’s a nice fruity gourmand but with an airyness to it so suited to the 26C weather today.
That sounds really nice. I sometimes see MontBlanc here so must give them a try
Some Mont Blanc scents are worth sampling, Signature is very popular if you see it in your area, I think Femme got discontinued around 2015, they should have kept the spicy sweet EDT imo.
Did Mont Blanc ever make expensive writing pens? Or am I thinking of a different company/business?
That’s them!
Like Robin said, it’s great quality pens but they do perfumes too.
Hermes Eau des Merveilles, nice and salty.
Oh, you smell GLORIOUSLY SUMMERY!
https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/homed/nz-house-garden/300264787/perfumier-bought-her-wellington-home-from-the-other-side-of-the-world
It’s been very windy and because we’re surrounded by trees there’s a fairly constant deep roar in the background. But the skies are clear, Jupiter and the moon are bright and Matariki ( Pleiades) will rise soon. I’m wearing Abel Pause. Frances Shoemack was born in South Canterbury, the region that neighbours mine, but she lives in Wellington now, in this great house ( link above).
I have been going through track changes on my novel all week. The process of writing, editing and publishing have changed so much in 25 years. I used to get hard copies in edits but not now. In fact, I don’t even print out my work so the first time I see a paper version is when it is the published book. A long way from the old days of blue pencil and paper.
I didn’t know you were writing a novel! How exciting, you must let us know when it is published 🙂
It’s not until next year. It’s a slow process!
happy to wait, good things take time after all 🙂
Good luck with your novel, how thrilling.
Thanks. I am currently trying to come up with alternatives for the phrase “ I wondered” as it’s been used 45 times…zzzzzzz
😀
“Pondered” or “mused upon”?
Kanuka, does your editor tell you that? If so, I am impressed! I notice things like that and wonder where the editor was…
p.s. found a typo in a New Yorker magazine again last week, makes me insane.
p.p.s. this site is full of typos, I know.
Be sure to keep us updated, I love the writing you do with your comments!
Just a quick update from me today:
SOTD is No 5 Eau Premiere. No points for CP unless you count the smell of powder and comfort as the smell of home. Lovely stuff.
I still have one more box of random samples free to a good home! See my post on Monday’s SOTD post for details. Free me from this mountain of samples!
samples box has been claimed!
You smell wonderful!
Classy pick for Almost Friday!
I am wearing Armani Figuier Eden. Green, woody and lovely!
Last year, I planted a fig tree in my front lawn and it’s doing great!
You smell AMAZING.
And yay for thriving fig tree!
Thanks!
I always wanted a fig tree, and I thought,
‘if not now, when??’
I can’t think of a scent that fits my current home, so focused on where I’m from…NorCal. Bee’s Bliss from SSS.
So rainy and cool here! We need the rain, but I’m ready for more heat. I don’t see anything higher than mid 70s in the near future. I’m someone who doesn’t think it’s hot till it hits 90s.
We were cool here the first part of the week but yesterday some heat and humidity returned.
I’m in Crystal Saffron, by Matiere Premiere. Wow, saffron bomb on me, with smoky amber. It’s giving me a headache, so I’m scrubbing it off now.
I tried Radical Rose yesterday. It was nice, but didn’t seem to bring anything new to the table in terms of rose perfumes. Now I just want to be wearing my trusty Lyric!
Oh no, the dreaded perfume headache. Hope you were able to scrub it off! Those are the ones that always seem to stick to me like glue.
I’ve noticed that MP’s perfumer uses a lot of that really persistent woody amber (similar to amberwood/amber xtreme) that sticks around forever. Am not a fan either which is such a pity because I like the rest of Crystal Saffron!
I can see how a perfume loaded with saffron could get “stabby”. Ouch.
Still in Brittany and wearing another Divine: l’Inspiratrice. I visited a small local market this morning and did another short coastal hike this afternoon. The sound and smell of the sea is extremely soothing.
I remember seeing gorse along the coastline and lots of small plants like ice plants , such beautiful beaches
The vegetation is very different from other parts of France, it actually reminds me of Cornwall and the Scilly isles in that respect. Gorse has nearly finished blooming. There is some wild Honeysuckle and lots of other plants. It’s in desperate need of rain though. There have been floods in a lot of places in France but Normandy and Brittany are as dry as can be.
Sounds perfect!
It pretty much is. I was exhausted when I left for my holiday nearly two weeks ago, but I am feeling very much recovered.
Wonderful!
I’m wearing Marfa today for the CP because it has at least a tangential tie to Texas. (Plus, I like its tuberose and white floral expansiveness.) I looked it up and Marfa turns out to be “597 miles or 961 km from Houston to Marfa (Texas), which takes about 8 hours, 32 minutes to drive.” I’ve never been to Marfa, though I have been out to far West Texas once to visit Big Bend, a totally amazing place (for awhile I thought I was on Mars or something there). So I haven’t seen Marfa either in the “before” times when people went out there mainly to see the famous and unexplained Marfa lights, or in the “Now” times when it is super cool, arty, and trendy. An artist friend of mine went out there around 20 years ago and told me “This place is so great, it’s going to be the next Santa Fe,” and I guess that’s coming true, or even has come true. It’s a lot harder place to get to than Santa Fe, though.
Now what does a white floral perfume have to do with the incredibly dry dusty vacant landscapes of west Texas? Zilch as far as I know. Supposedly the perfume incudes agave juice, which would help make some sense, but I honestly can’t detect it.
Hiding out in my house with all the window shades closed trying to deal with this heat wave. We’ve got heat warnings for “the elderly” and that includes me, so I’m not going anywhere. Fortunately I have enough groceries on hand.
That’s really interesting about Marfa. There are such huge distances in the USA within states. I hope you can keep cool. Are you still doing your watercolours?
Thanks for the interesting read! Big Bend is on my bucket list.
Plenty of fluids to keep cool.
I saw those temps on the nightly news yesterday. Holy Cow, that is scary! Hope you stay safe.
Hope you’re staying cool!
Taking cp points in my grounding essential oil from Lusa organics. It’s got notes of patchouli, sandalwood and clove. Made about 100 miles away in the heart of the driftless area in a tiny town that I’ve stopped in many times on my way through. They have a hip little coffee shop and every time I stop I think: I could live here. Maybe in another life.
Tonight is my book club for The Thursday Murder Club. I finished it just in the nick of time. I loved it and may read the rest in the series. There were several parts that made me a little teary.
Then tomorrow starts my week of vacation.🎉
Your grounding essential oil sounds lovely!
Woo-hoo for vacation! I hope it’s very relaxing.
Hello all! Long time no chat.
1) SOTD for this Midsummer day: Rose jasmine body oil with a topper of Joy EDT. Why was this discontinued again?
2) Am doing my Cybersecurity capstone and man oh man, this week in the news is an absolute nightmare.
3) I am breaking down and buying an air conditioner – I had window ones that really did not fit my windows, so I gave those up and am getting the portable ones that have tubing that better fits my sliding windows!
How are you???
Your fragrance sounds beautiful! Good luck with the installation of the ACs. I hope they work out for you. 🌬️
Hiya! You are smelling great! We have the two most antique window units for our two West-facing rooms. We only turn them on a few days every summer (the rooms do have vents for the central HVAC). But they help a lot.
The portable ones are great, and so much easier than installing the window units.
I’m in a sample of Ex Nihilo Atlas Fever today, and taking CP points for the cranberry (NJ cranberries), oak and narcissus notes (both have been growing in my years since before I moved in). Unexpectedly, it also reminds me of the scent of Strawberry Shortcake figurines, not the dolls, but the 2-inch rubbery/plastic figures that I loved as a kid. They were heavily scented, and this smells like a luxe version of that scent. I am now resisting the urge to rummage through the attic to find them and compare directly. I have work-work to do and it is extremely unlikely that they retained their scent for 40 years!
Drinking chai again today for no particular reason.
Cranberry is a rather unusual note in perfumes. I think I have come across it only once.
I know it is in Ange ou Demon le Secret, which I also like, but the most prominent cranberry note I’ve encountered is in a Pineward Perfume (I think called Christmas Wine, maybe?) that was meant to smell like a holiday punch.
I’m wearing Perris Monte Carlo Santal du Pacifique, fitting the CP because I stuck my feet in the Pacific this morning. I woke up early and watched the sun rise, it was so lovely and peaceful. I might do it again tomorrow.
What a great morning!
I’m joining the crew in pretty florals with Piguet Calypso. Although I’m cheating a little, since I think it’s actually classified as a fruity-floral. It might be the only one in that category which I own. No tie-in, no CP points for me today.
No brainpower, either. Was awoken by our dog at 6:00 a.m., not a time when I’m usually conscious, lol! He’s had gastritis, due to “dietary indiscretion.” On the mend, though, thank goodness.
Oooooooof. Sorry to hear about the early wake up call from your poor dog.
I started today taking CP points for roses in DSH American Beauty. It had faded by the time I got home this afternoon so I switched to Aura, and forgot about how great it smells in warm/hot weather! I can’t remember when I got my bottle, last year I think.
DSH does great roses.
Another day, another load of laundry. Trying to cut down the loads before the painters show up next week.
The weather was much improved over yesterday. It’s nice having a respite from the storms, but they will be back soon enough.
SOTD = again with the Korres Guava lotion. Thinking about getting another tube of it, even though I have plenty left.
Do you buy direct from the company?
Yep! I get things really fast from them.
Is the husband back to fishing again?
Nope. He complained bitterly about the terrible fishing conditions in FL the last time he was down there.
He has made a couple of trips to a casino though. He’s a poker player.
Oy! All of the cruises I had been on had casinos and one must typically walk through them unless one wants to take a detour. Sympathies on the smokey smell.
There’s been a few attempts to make the casinos in AC smoke free. Hasn’t happened so far.
But the casinos closest to us are over in PA. And yeah, one’s clothes are stinky after a trip to one of those.
Good luck with the upcoming painting! Glad that the Korres lotion is holding it’s own. It’s such a rich formulation. I only have a small tube of the jasmine; I should use it up before it goes off.
I find that the Korres lotions and body butters have a really good shelf life even after they’ve been opened.
SOTD = Chanel Coromandel EDT
Wowzers! CP points because I am 💯% sure I bought this at the store on 5th Avenue (NYC of course).

Here’s a rant if you’re into that sort of thing …
Yesterday, I got my breakfast at my usual Starbucks. I got my drink first after a short wait, no big deal. Then I waited another minute but I have not seen anyone by the register nor anyone heating food. I asked the barista if anyone is making my sandwich. Now mind you, I have seen this barista many times before but not once had he acknowledged me by name (3 others do). Anyway, instead of saying he will go check, he said “That’s not my responsibility. I make the drinks.” If you know me, the worst thing that could happen to me is rude customer service! I played it cool and a minute later, when the cashier reappeared, in my loudest voice I asked it anyone is making my sandwich. No one responded but I saw the cashier scrambling to get it done. When I got home, I called Starbucks customer service line and I complained. I also said I don’t care about being compensated for what I just shared but the district manager must know what happened! At the end of all that, I got $20 for my trouble. It’s a good return but I would rather not have to have been subject to someone’s bad mood or whatever the heck he was on!
Do you have a BUB of the EdT, or will that be a Final Thunk when your current bottle is gone?
I have a BUB of the EDT. I also have the EDP and the Parfum.
Which one is your favorite, or do you have one? 🤩
If I had to rank order them, Parfum, EDT and EDP. Time, reformulations and concentration kept to the original vision.
My blood started boiling reading that guys response! I hope the “that’s not my responsibility” line comes back to him the next time he needs something.
Karma is a b-tch!
Right, lillyjo. And, h, I am glad you got a pay-back!!
Today is my son’s 21st birthday. Can you believe it!? It’s been an up and down day. The up was celebrating with his 89 year old Godmother and my cousin. I wore my nicest outfit and YSL In Love Again.
Happy birthday to your son!
Happy Birthday to your son, and yay for celebrating with his Godmother!
Happy Birthday to your son. And you smell great, btw.
Happy Birthday to your son! How nice to celebrate with family. Off to check out your sotd.
Happy birthday to your son! Lovely perfume choice.
Coming in late after a busy day catching up from yesterday, when I did (almost) no work. I cut some peonies to take to a friend and then could not resist another day of Stella. My bottle is getting low — this was one of my very first perfumista-y purchases and I still like it very much.
Many thanks to all for the birthday wishes yesterday! The lunch was as yummy and indulgent as expected, the museum (Alling Coverlet Museum, Palmyra, NY) was really good. We did not get to yarn shop, but I’ll get there at some point. An unexpected treat was trying a glass of (hard) cider that I actually liked at the CSA pickup — most are way too sweet for me but this one was light and not cloying.
Your peonies sound beautiful.
So glad all the plans went well! Hopefully there will still be yarn left when you get to the store 😉
Late to the party – noticed I was near a thunk on Chanel Allure body lotion. So, SotD is that, plus a near-hajusuuri level spritzing of my beloved Allure edp. I need to try the current version. Mine is from 2010. Busy day today.
Started out the day in Yves Rocher Mure Sauvage, continuing the theme of delicious fruit in my area. That burned off quickly so I changed my theme to Lush fragrances, since I lived close to the Vancouver area years ago. I ended up in Lush Ginger this afternoon.
