I’m in the very very very last whiff of Angel’s Share that I spritzed yesterday morning after my shower and before I climbed into bed. That’s some lasting power!
I’m beelining to the beach as soon as I blow this pop stand to look for cooler temps and some peace and quiet. The hotel I’ve been in the last three days is the noisiest I’ve ever stayed at. On the upside, the bed was an absolute delight.

One of the fun parts of being, erm, “between contracts” at the moment is heading for the beach at the end of every day. There is nothing I do at the beach that I couldn’t do at home, but I love it. 😀

oh-I have the discovery set from April Aromatics-maybe we could do a German Week! 4711. Which other houses are German, or could we also do manufactured in Germany, which could include things like Dolce and Gabanna, at one point.

Yes, 4711! Escentric Molecules…also JF Schwarzlose, Erik Kormann, Frau Tonis — though those are somewhat niche-y. Jil Sander & Escada, for slightly more mainstream.

I had a Hugo Boss and a Jil Sander perfume when I was a student, long long time ago.
And I know Sven Pritzkoleit recently made a gorgeous vetiver (Liquorice Vetiver). But apart from that I am completely lost 😅
I’m in LL Bergamote 22 on this bright and beautiful sunny day.🌞 What a contrast from yesterday’s dreary, drizzly and cold day. It wasn’t good for much besides shopping so that’s what I did lol. Trying out a new Kevyn Aucoin mascara today: indecent. I’ve gone through 2 tubes of his volume mascara which I really like. I believe it’s the first tubing mascara I’ve tried and I think I’m now a convert. Absolutely zero flaking and smudging, and comes off easily. This one is just bit “thicker” and I am liking it for my fine lashes.
I love his makeup. There’s one of his lipstick colours that I won’t go without.
Ooh, I’m curious to know what color?! Now that I have a bluemercury near me I can explore more of his line. I really like both the mascaras from him that I’ve tried.
Thelmadora. It’s a very good neutral pink.
No flaking or smudging from a tubing mascara? Hmmmmm. If I ever get back into wearing it, I will look for one.
No, none! I don’t even get the little smudges on my eyelids as I’m putting it on like I do with most mascaras. It really stays put!
Maybe I’ll do a week of tea fragrances that (on my skin) never smell like tea. Anyway I’m wearing The Time today, which in spite of having two tea notes, does not smell of tea.

I stared and stared at my collection this morning and finally came up with a theme — Adjectives: wear a scent with an adjective in the name. I have a lot more than five of those for the week, so I set some additional restrictions, because I have to make everything difficult for myself: it has to be a two-word name, one of which is an adjective (so Bulgari Black doesn’t count), and I can’t repeat a house (I must have a half dozen Etat Libre d’Orange scents that fit the bill).
So today I’m in ELdO Nombril Immense, which is mostly sexy patchouli.
That’s an interesting one! Mine would be Corsica Furiosa or Etro Royal Pavillon.

We’re planning to add a mini split in the upstairs closet where I keep my perfume so this weekend, under a “heat dome,” I had to furiously pack up all the bottles and take them to our (wine) storage locker. I miss them but will rest easy over these hot months before we’re able to get the work done😌
That being said, there are still some bottles and decants I tucked away in the pantry so my CP will be a mishmash and attempt to give some love to neglected fragrance🌸
We should do a Renovation CP. I’ll be there in a month. 😀

Mini-splits are heating and cooling systems that allow you to control the temperatures in individual rooms/spaces. They have two main components — an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit (evaporator).
I’m hoping that a mini-split will let me rest easy when our heat (and cooling) pump doesn’t cool the upstairs area and my closet enough as temps rise in the PNW.
A beautiful spring day here, and I’m wearing The Different Company Sublime Balkiss. I love this scent, and it has a lily of the valley note-my patch of LOTV is starting to bloom. I accidentally ran over the perimeter of the bed, one fall, when I was mowing the lawn. Caused the patch to spread and spread, and it takes over so much space in the backyard-I love it.
Your garden sounds lovely, such a beautiful flower. And nice to know there is an upside to lawn mowing!
i love LOTV! years ago my nextdoor neighbor had it growing as a border between our front yards. I would swipe some every year to take in the house for sniffs. 🙂

Had my finals last week and worked my last day at my job on Saturday. Been a hell of a week, and I’m rolling right into a summer class (I’m on our 15-minute break now.)
I got my bottle of 31 Rue Cambon EdP in the mail today, which I’m thankful for. I’ve been really wanting a bottle for forever, and I bought this a bit before I decided on my current path. However, maybe two weeks ago I realized I already had a bottle of the EdP.
Even with my huge collection, I could probably tell you where I got each bottle, if not a loose timeframe. This one really stumped me, y’all. I can’t find a receipt or record of purchasing this bottle. I’m joking that I manifested it, but now I have nearly 400ml of 31 Rue Cambon EdP (not to mention a 75ml of the EdT which is distinct and also lovely.) I might sell the second one, to be honest. I got it for a great deal on Ebay and it’s authentic. Well we’ll see! I’m positively billowing the scent today.

Contender and SOTD today was Wick Fragrances Reine du Volcan.Odd note being the nutty,dense,almost oily(in a good way) sesame seed oil note.So so good.A day of rain,moodswings at work and power cuts at home.This Winter is going to be so.much.fun.Lol.

That’s a good idea, but I must say that the perfume with that note (sesame seed oil) sounds weird. ;-). Might make me hungry.
It certainly gives it a nutty,earthy aspect,but I think the other notes of vetiver,smoky woods and something jasmine-ey balances it out nicely and takes it to “inedible but incredible”.😉

Happy to report that my clematis is shooting up the new trellis my husband made. Finally, a clematis that lived over the winter! Of course, it was a weirdly mild winter but still. Looking forward to lots of purple flowers.

Today I am wearing Carven le parfum which is sooo fresh and perfect for spring even though today’s weather doesn’t feel like spring at all.

I think I’m going for a week of Aldehydes with a capital A. I’ve realized that I really love big soapy, powdery aldehydic perfumes!
I smelled Amouage’s Gold Woman for the first time over the weekend at Nordstrom’s and I was in love. I already know that I enjoy Dia and this was in the same vein. I certainly don’t need bottles of either since No. 22 scratches the same itch for me but I am tempted since they are both so gorgeous.
Candidates for the week, more than half of them being Chanels:
– No. 5 (of course) either the EDT or Eau Premiere
– No. 22
– 1957
– Bois des Iles
– Amouage Gold
– FM Iris Poudre

I went to the grocery store on my lunch break…coming back into the cool apartment was a literal dream come true!
There is a lot of focus on the northern hemisphere when it comes to perfume so my CP idea is “South of the Equator”. Wear a perfume with a link ( nose, maker, name of perfume) that comes from the southern hemisphere….parts of Africa, South America, Indonesia, Australia , New Zealand, Pacific Islands..

I’m very late to reply as I’m just catching up on Monday’s comments, but Frassai is from Argentina and Fuegia 1833 is Brazilian. Those are the two that jumped out at me. And both available in the US.

I wanted to wear what makes me happy, even if I seem to feel alone here with liking these. To celebrate that my peonies are starting to bloom I’m in Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede for day. For evening it is JM Wild Bluebell, which goes very well with English type costume dramas or shows like Bridgerton.
Oh, I envy you your peonies in bloom! I always had access to them growing up and living in the north, but not any more (in Texas). I must pay around $5/stem to enjoy their lush beauty now.
Trader Joe’s may have them. I saw an article this morning that they have them for a short time in the spring. Price was $9.99 for five stems. 🌸
Our a/c has been officially and professionally determined to be dead, so my theme for this dreadful weather week (heat dome combined with a flood watch (!) due to potential thunderstorms and an inch of rain) is Whatever Will Feel Relatively Dry. Today it’s CdG Kyoto. Interestingly, I tried Robin’s scent, Thé Pour un Été, last night and, much to my surprise, it did not work at all well in the hot and humid weather we’re having. I may spend the rest of the week in Le Dix dusting powder! 🔥 🌧️

Oh no! I am in a somewhat similar situation because one of my house’s two units has started to leak causing a lot of drips down in my garage below…. I know it’s all my fault for not getting the machines serviced this winter, but it’s so expensive! Getting a new one put in is really the pits. And I seem to have some extra unrelated leaks in my laundry room which may be due to all the recent rain. It’s driving me nuts.
Ack! Leaks are bad — don’t let them get too far! We had to have a bunch of flooring torn out and replaced because a badly sealed door sill had let water seep in under some tiles. Houses — they’re almost as bad as boats for being giant holes into which one has to throw money. 😝

Two of the driest perfumes I can think of are EL Azuree and SSS Incense Pure.
Ooh, no Azurée in the house, but I do have some Incense Pure and will give it a whirl — thanks!
My theme might also be wear what I want, but I’ll see if I can be more imaginative. Meanwhile, today is Mitsouko EdT. Maybe I’ll expand on that and do a week of chypres.
Though I am not familiar with all of the Mitsouko versions (edt, edp… vintage, new, newer etc)

I have a Mitouko mini with the parfum/extract. I think its old. The top notes are no longer there but the mossy amber spicy drydown is amazing and magical.
And if you do a week of chypres, Im taking notes. ☺️
I’m wearing Chanel #19 from the recent Swapmeet and feeling glamourous.
This weekend I will have the fun job of helping a young family with a four-year-old boy find a new cat! First they are coming to my house so he can visit and play with my cats and learn some basic kitty etiquette. I’m very excited for him!
Has there ever been a CP about perfume and pets? Many of us are pet lovers. I did try Demeter Kitten Fur but it was not a success in my book. I gave it to my neighbor’s little granddaughter. There are surely more sophisticated pairings, including more conceptual ones.
I like this idea because T-Rex has some personal favorites. How do I know this? Because she starts attentively sniff-sniff-sniffing my neck, then proceeds to rub against me like a cat. If, in her opinion, it’s REALLY good, she starts whining and giving little woofs of appreciation. However, to be fully transparent, she likes to roll in 💩 and any kind of decaying organic matter, so there’s that…😬
Maybe you should rethink wearing those scents she likes–at least, don’t wear them out in public. 😉

It is true that there are a lot of pet owners here, but there are also lots of people who don’t have pets…I don’t like a project that will exclude so many people?
maybe any perfume that has any kind of connection to an animal, smells animalic, brings to mind an animal . . .
my family had a parakeet that smelled faintly like Apres L’ondee. 🙂

My own CP theme this week will be Stay Cool and will feature perfumes that are perfect in hot weather. It’ll cool off to the low 80s for most of the week but today is 86 in Seattle where most of us don’t have air conditioning. I’m in Ninfeo Mio and showered with B&BW Brown Sugar & Fig this morning for a perfect pairing.
Sweating it out together and Ninfeo Meo is the perfect hot weather fragrance.

I wore Prada Infusion d’Iris absolue. Yesterday I wore a few sprays over top of my carrot seed and lotion combo for our Mothers Day visit. It seemed to be still wafting beautifully this morning so a respray was all I needed.
I’ve been trying to make a dent in some bottles so have been consciously spraying myself at bedtime. Last week was 4160 Tuesdays New York 1955. I’ll pick a new one tonight.

Bringing up the rear with my SOTD post today. Honestly, I’m retrofitting my cp theme to what I chose this morning: vintage Chanel No 5 parfum. A very, very kind NSTer gifted me a decant of this. So, my cp theme for the week is “wear your most treasured decants”. ❤️

As I mentioned yesterday I’m on travel for two weeks and only brought 4 decants with me, so I won’t mention it every day haha. Today was Iris Torrefie and I love it so much.
