British niche line Ormonde Jayne has launched 1909, 1984 and 2019, three new fragrances in the brand's Secrets of London series. 1909, 1984 and 2019 are intended to represent "snapshots of Selfridges".

1909 (A House is Born) ~ "The perfume pays homage to the legendary and iconic store and is focused on a smooth, tenacious sandalwood, in-keeping with the grand carved wooden cabinets filled to the brim with luxurious artefacts. Highlighted with a radiant grapefruit top note to emphasize the sparkling crystal chandeliers and positivity of the store." Additional notes include bergamot, mandarin, sandalore, cardamon, labdanum and suede.

1984 ( Emblem of the House) ~ "It all stemmed from the love of a yellow rose he commissioned for the store’s 75th anniversary. This rose variant was first planted in 1984 at a sentimental spot in Hyde Park and named “The Emblem of the House of Selfridge”. In 1990 the yellow of the favoured rose became the world-famous carrier bag. The rose accord is at the heart of the perfume and warm notes of sensual amber and musk create a rich, alluring finish that lingers on the skin, inviting you to indulge in the luxury of Selfridges." Additional notes for the floral gourmand include pink pepper, blackcurrant, nutmeg, jasmine, incense, vanilla and benzoin.

2019 (The Theatre of Retail) ~ "The first store to light up its windows at night, drawing in the crowds like true theatre. 2019, the perfume opens with a burst of bright citrus and floral notes, evoking the buzz of excitement that permeated the air when Selfridges first opened its doors. As the fragrance settles, the floral heart of delicate jasmine is grounded with a deep woody note of sandalwood adding a touch of strength." Additional notes for the gourmand include mandarin, bergamot, freesia, musk and vanilla.

Ormonde Jayne 1909, 1984 and 2019 are limited edition, and can be found now at Selfridges in the UK, £225 each for 120 ml Eau de Parfum.
