It’s Hump Day, National Vietnam War Veterans Day and World Piano Day. Birthdays: Pearl Bailey, Astrud Gilberto, Eric Idle. What fragrance are you wearing?
Astrud Gilberto's favorite fragrance is apparently Robert Piguet Fracas, and that works for me and for the community project (you can see her singing at the Paris Jazz Festival in 1968 here; and you can read ‘He made sure that she got nothing’: The sad story of Astrud Gilberto, the face of bossa nova at The Guardian.)
Reminder: on 3/31, for Eiffel Tower Day, wear a perfume that says Paris to you, or that has Paris in the name, or ?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good mornings, all you lovely scented people! Mona di Orio’s Musc here,. cause I need something that is comforting and stays close to the skin. I love this scent. Hope everyone has a good day.
You have a great day too Carole!
Wearing Chanel Misia EdT for the CP.
Beautiful sunny day in the upper 50’s. Having my second cup of coffee and a challah french toast.
Happy Wednesday!🪻
I’m on my second cup of tea, and hours to go until breakfast — jealous of your French toast!
You smell great, I thought about Misia for this week but can’t find.
Thank you, Robin! Misia is one of Les Exclusifs that does get mentioned here anymore. I have to admit that I rarely wear it, but when I do I really enjoy it.
The French toast will cover breakfast and lunch for me today. No time for anything else
except for more coffee and probably a snack, until dinner tonight 🤷♀️
Challah makes the BEST French Toast! Yum! 😋
I am craving for more now! 😋
You’re making me want some, and I had a great dinner already! No fair!
😅
I am wearing Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis.
This bottle reminds me of Paris, he was opening his first shop just next to my hotel , I went in and fell in love with this one. The prices were something around 60 euros back then !!
Ha, long price climb since 🙂
Great memory – Paris, Perfume and Prices!
I love that one too.
Wow- 60 bucks! 😯
I wrote MFK Grand Soir for the CP on Monday!
Another year around the sun today
SOTD Encens Mythique
Volunteering at the library later today-its nice to be in the “peoples palace” on my special day
Happy birthday friend!! Enjoy your day at the library <3
Happy Birthday! I love libraries, too.
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday! I go regularly to our library but some of my happiest moments were in the old Carnegie Library in my childhood neighborhood.
Same here, especially because my mother worked there!
I think my kids have an association with libraries and me 💙
Carnegie is the “godfather” of libraries- I live near two.
He was not the nicest man, but his gifts funded so many libraries which were so treasured in little Midwestern towns like mine.
A very happy birthday to you! And a perfect place to spend it. Hope there is cake eventually though 😉
The happiest of birthdays to you, LTSG! (I’ve just received The Sheltering Sky from my library.)
Let me know what you think
If you don’t like it blame Kanuka 😇😇😇
Haha!
😉
Happy Birthday! 🎂
Happy Birthday! I loved your picture on Insta!
Thanks! My heart is still in Morocco
A good friend of mine here is just returning today from a visit to Egypt. Of course Egypt is a fascinating place with a grand history, but Cairo really did not look very appealing to me–not nearly as much as Morocco.
I stayed in Marrakech and spent one day in Casablanca -only to go into a mosque. I wouldn’t have gone to Casablanca otherwise. Also to snap a photo of Ricks Cafe.
How was your friends impression of Egypt?
Happy Birthday ltsg!🎉📚
Happy Birthday! 🎂
Have a wonderful, happy and peaceful year and lots of good reading!
Thank you- because of you I have many books on my list
Happy birthday!
Wasn’t it Cicero who said, “If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need”? The Carnegie Libraries are a great gift to our country! As soon as my retirement settles down a bit, I plan on volunteering at the local branch closest to me!
Yes, we have that quote on our canvas totes
Your aspirations for retirement at the library sound glorious 💭
Happy Birthday!
Best wishes on your birthday.
Happy Birthday! Many fragrant Shalimar edc hugs headed your way!
Shalimar hugs are the best
Happy Birthday! you smell great!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday, fellow March baby! You’re smelling heavenly!
Happy Scented Birthday! 🎉🎂🥂
Happy Birthday!
Thank you all so much
Happy birthday!
Thank you everyone
Happy belated birthday! Hope it was a great day!
SL Chypre Rouge, for that touch of weirdness I crave every now and then.
Hope it hit the spot pyramus.
Guerlain Iris Ganache today — very lovely and airy, sweet iris of the doughy variety. It feels more like a meringue than a ganache to me, but delicious either way!
Tea is roasted mate and cocoa, warm and nutty.
Pfsh, thank you for the kind offer of an Egoiste sample. But I already have one that is fairly recent in my Sample Stash. I wanted to know if a FB of the current stuff would be worthy. Sounds like it would be. 😉
I’m CP house twins with pfsh: Angelique Noire for me, a favorite spring fragrance. I find it more verte than noire and it’s lovely.
I wonder why they gave it the noir name
Copying a couple NST’ers with 24 Faubourg from a 2022 FragranceNet travel spray. It’s very appealing to me, with lots of notes but not an everything and the kitchen sink style. I think this travel spray has a thunk in its future.
You smell very elegant!
I love the music of both Getz and Gilberto (all of the Gilbertos, really), and what a blow it is to read how cruel Getz was to Astrud. Musicians — sometimes they have blinders on, I think.
Anyway, my SOTD is Annick Goutal Eau d’Hadrien in the older edt formulation. I have the new edp as well, and I like it … but it doesn’t have the magic that the edt has.
Same…have always loved Stan Getz and apparently he was not a kind man. I knew that AG had been shortchanged but never knew the whole story.
Oh well. He is not the only musician whose private life I’d just as soon not have known about.
On my way to shower to get all scrubba-dubbed and thinking about what to wear after. I need something to boost my morale since apparently the new hospital and my agency have finally figured out what the hell is going on. My mood is spiraling quickly down.
It took an “educator” at the hospital all day to figure out how to email me. She and my recruiter are telling me I need to “Create a new email” because the one I have “isn’t working and and mail keeps getting returned.” Really?! I’ve been getting emails all day no problem. I confirmed my email address and then finally, I got her email address at the hospital. I emailed her to ask her to just reply to MY email and add instructions for first day. So, she replied, successfully I might add, by saying all her emails to me keep getting returned. Did she send any instructions with that successful reply? NO, she did NOT!!! 🤦🏻♀️ Could she just call me with info? No! Could she email my recruiter and he could forward it to me since I’d been receiving emails from him all morning? No! Because it seems these instructions are some type of state secret and highly confidential..!
(Be here at 7am, ask for John Doe at the kiosk…)
This calls for Fils de Dieu. I may wear it for the next 3 months to gird myself for the onslaught of inefficient people and systems. This is a member of “management.” Too bad she can’t manage an email. So THRILLED to be returning to work, which I was SUPPOSED to start Monday. A rather inauspicious beginning…🤮
What a fiasco! 😱
What a pain. Good luck for the rest of the contract.
How aggravating for you, you smell delicious.
FFS!
I am questioning her ability to teach …
Why wouldn’t she just call?
Ridiculous!
I’m wearing Black March this morning, one of my favorites. If only my real garden soil smelled as good as this, I could probably grow anything. As it is, my backyard is clay and takes a lot of amendment for good growth. I didn’t do anything to it last fall so when it gets a little drier here I’ll be out with the compost and the lime, digging away.
Interesting. Our dirt smells almost as good as Black March but not quite. But we compost anyway!
I’m in Vol de Nuit parfum for the CP.
You smell very elegant.
You smell heavenly!
I watched/ streamed Maigret with Gerard Depardieu ( based on Simeon novel) last night, directed by Patrice Leconte and really thought it was great. It’s set in 1950s Paris, lots of cobbled streets and night scenes, and Depardieu brooding gloomily, weighed down by work and life. Wearing Couche de Diable.
https://francetoday.com/culture/cinema-film/french-film-review-maigret/
Yay to a good movie, I’m half French but haven’t read a lot of Simenon.
I love Maigret but can’t bring myself to watch any of the television versions because I don’t want it to mess with the the Maigret in my head.
Allo, that is my story too. I’ve never been able to watch the Dalgliesh series either.
It was a remarkably grey day and I thought it called for vanilla, so I Profumi Di Firenze Hayan was the choice this morning, and tonight AC Vanille Insensée. They have similarities in the vanilla department, but Hayan is equal mix patchouli/vanilla, almost gourmand and VI is more citrussy and floral.
Robin, thank you for the article, I love bossa Nova.
Aurora, thank you for your recommendation of Perris Montecarlo Mimosa Tanneron. I decided to go for a blind buy of a full bottle, and I received it last night. I can’t be happier! It is so beautiful and it puts a big smile on my face. I will be wearing it a lot. It is one of those purchases that makes me feel very satisfied. Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much, so thoughtful of you to let me know. So happy that you have a new bottle of a scent you love, it’s the perfect season to wear it too!
I tried another new to me new apple variety the other day, and thought of you. This one was called Ruby Frost, and was the perfect size.
I haven’t heard of Ruby Frost. It sounds good though.
Ruby Frost was a winner for me. I like my apples crisp and with a nice sweet/acid balance. The smaller size was an additional bonus.
Thank you Jalapeno, we’re apple lovers you and I; Ruby Frost is such a pretty name for a fruit, I’m obsessed with Ariane at the moment, from Kent.
Local is best, for sure!
Does anyone else read Perfume Posse regularly? If not, you should!
I loved March’s post yesterday (I love all her posts) and I quote:
“as much as it interests me I’ve never decided whether I like it, even though I own and occasionally wear it. (The most perfumista concept ever.)” (regarding her AG Eau de Camille). Isn’t it so true? I have several fragrances that would fit that category.
http://perfumeposse.com/2023/03/27/feels-like-winter-smells-like-spring/
That’s a perfect description!
Ooh thanks for the link and introduction to Perfume Posse!
I used to read Perfume Posse, but stopped back when Life went off the rails for me. I still have the site bookmarked, though.
I do read it – it’s a good blend of perfume otherness.
Thank you for the March quote!
Doused myself in BDK Gris Charnel Extract and couldn’t smell it at all 10 minutes later. A very harsh opening, as well. Its funny how I found the original so much more well rounded.
I might try layering the two.
I keep thinking of getting a sample of the Gris Charnel Extrait to see if it is any better than the original.
En Passant for the CP today. Lilacs and fresh bread make me think about spring days in Paris!
Perfect Paris combo
Tea for Two mmmmmm on a rainy day.
Lovely – that’s perfect.
In L’Artisan Parfumeur Santal because it reminds me of early trips to Paris an ill fated trip to their address on Rue Passage d’Enfer, excitedly thinking that it was a boutique and finding out it was their corporate office (I know I’m not the only one who has done this)🙃
Quelle déception! (You smell wonderful, anyway.)
Absolument!
Hmmm, I’ve been to L’AP boutique not far from the Louvre when it was just renovated.
Fortunately, I found an actual boutique that was a quick metro ride away😀
I’m wearing Musc Ravageur today and flaunting it! Lol!
If you’v e got it, flaunt it!
It’s a rainy day, and I chose to wear SDV. I made my son sniff my wrist this morning and he said, oooh, I like it, can I have some?! Last night, he complimented my Aromatics Elixir, I was most surprised by that.
Your son is a budding perfumista!
What jalapeño said!
Chilly day today for me! Very glad that I haven’t packed away my heavier wool socks yet.
SOTD = still in No. 19 Poudree. Getting close to thunking the sample! But I have said that before, and it has taken weeks with some particularly stubborn samples.
I thought it was cold today as well! I had to keep checking my watch.
A pesky perfume sample for something you like isn’t so bad though.
I did not believe the meteorologists when they said what the high temp was today!
I admire your way with samples, I keep forgetting to wear Poudrée and it is so pretty though and the right reason for it.
I have plenty of “unthunked” samples around, so sometimes I feel like one ought to be used up and appreciated.
I also admire your use of samples. I guess it’s easier to use them up when you like something. I have too many that didn’t work out for me.
Oh, I have had my fair share of samples that aren’t my thing. I’ve managed to rehome quite a few of those! But not all of them…
SOTD = Chanel Coco Noir EDP
Love it love it! 💗 Chanel always reminds me of Paris so points for the CP.

In other news, did I mention that managers are being made more aware of people in their teams who have only been in the office 20% or less in the past 3 months? This is adjusting for time off and holidays. This is why I don’t feel so bad when I miss a day here and there I’m not being in the office, just sayin’.
If anyone knows, what is the code to the DSH Bees & Spring Break Flash Sale? Also not sure if it is still going on?
Thanks!
Such a cute Cat of the Day!
It’s the perfect match!
Code is: springbreak15, good through 4/3! Have fun!
Monday night after work I ate some leftovers and managed to give myself food poisoning. I spent all of yesterday on the couch thinking I will never eat again! Fortunately today I am feeling better and just had some macaroni and cheese.
I wore a tiny spray of Tiffany Trueste today.
Bleurgh! Food poisoning sucks so much! Sorry to hear that you were dealing with that.
Oh no!! So sorry lillyjo.
I feel like I’m cheating, but SOTD is Chanel’s Paris-Deauville. It’s great!
Hey, Paris is in the name! We have no rules 🙂
lol, thanks! I will say that to me, anything Chanel says “Paris.” But some Chanels actually do say Paris!
