The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 20 March 2023 4 Comments

From Obakki in Canada, an incense gift set: "We think these incense burners are the answer to all your incense needs - with a deep bowl that you can fill with sand or pebbles to create a heat resistant base and a high back wall that acts as a windbreak, these stunning pieces can do it all. Made OF Australia's signature series of functional stoneware ceramics - twice fired, once to full vitrification for durability and longevity, then again while sealed in special containers (called saggars) with native Australian flora and organics from indigenous fauna (organic materials like snakeskin, emu and crocodile eggshell, and goose feathers etc.)." Comes with a Waboku incense sampler ("The Hinoki (cypress) is a calm and soothing aroma, the Keyaki (delvoka) is a sweet and exotic scent, uplifting -- and the Kusonoki (camphor tree) is uplifting and powerful.") $131 USD.

Like you, am not spending $131, but the ceramic holder/bowl is very appealing. Actually, the whole presentation almost makes me want to reach for the credit card 😈

That website has lots of cool stuff, I wasted a good 30 minutes there. And I am hopefully never buying another incense burner, ever 🙂

I sort of went off incense after all the medical studies about burning incense being linked to respiratory diseases & increased cancer risks…

Oh, that doesn’t worry me at all. I don’t burn incense daily or even weekly, and I run air cleaners in my house anyway. But it’s nice to have a scent once in awhile, and incense in particular is relaxing.
