DS & Durga Pistachio ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 6 January 2023 8 Comments

Indie brand DS & Durga has launched Pistachio, a new fragrance.*

Quote from David Seth Moltz, perfumer: "I think pistachio is an elegant nut. Also a fun nut. It's around good climes and everyone seems to dig it. We made this on a whim - a fragrance with no story that just evokes the fun of pistachio, especially as a dessert flavor. It was a "Studio Juice" (limited edition of 100 bottles). People went nuts for the concept (pun somewhat intended) and we knew we had to add it to the line. It's dank and unabashedly sweet, which is something I don't normally do."

**

A gourmand fragrance made by a perfumer who doesn’t usually do/love gourmands. Which is to say it is easy on the nose and expansive on the mind. Miles of green pistachio roll on for days. Hour after hour on the skin whispering “pistachio.” Molto Bene!

Additional notes include cardamom, roasted almond and vanilla creme.

DS & Durga Pistachio is available now at Neiman Marcus, $190 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

* Pistachio was originally released in early 2022 as a "Studio Juice" with a limited edition run of 100 bottles.

OOOOF. I love pistachio and I’m dying to try this, but there’s no Neiman Marcus near me and that price is giving me pause. I’ll stick with my $25 bottle of Pistachio Brulee!

You can also buy directly from DS & Durga, but that won’t save you any money, so yes, a $25 bottle you already own is not a bad thing!

The comments on fragrantica say it’s heavy on patchouli and not at all sweet. Pass for me, although I love patchouli. Roasted pistachio nuts is not what I’m looking for, would prefer pistachio croissants or ice cream. 🙂

Even if it was straight up pistachio ice cream I would not pay that much for it, so whatevs 😉

I’m in hahaha. I’m not one for gourmand but it does sound worth trying.

(By the way, that Latke candle was fabulous in the jar. I’m trying to find it on sale before purchasing it though. )
