I've just returned home after a few days away. I'm commando for the moment; I'm hoping to catch up on email and comments (and put on some perfume) later today.
Reminder: on 11/18, wear a fragrance with a peppercorn note...pink (aka schinus molle or baies rose), black or white.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in a successful (one of my very few successes) blind buy–Fendi Furiosa. Very pink peppercorn-ful at the beginning, then it softens and feels gently classy for several hours. It’s nothing like Theorema and softer than the original Fendi, which I also like, but feels like I should wear shoulder pads with it. 🙂
I’m straightening up and dusting for my little neighborhood coffee get-together this morning. Scones and biscotti are made and ready to be eaten.

What kind of scones did you make?
Dried cherry and orange zest. So good. The NYT recipe is called Cranberry-Orange Scones. I subbed cherries.
Lush Garden, day 2: Orange Blossom. Opens with the expected orange-flower note, and then something which is NOT GOOD, something herbal and weird, not in a pleasant way. When that fades, which it does fairly quickly, you’re left with a nice, standard orange-flower scent with a bit of wood and a bit of sweetness. Not something I would have bought on its own, but as long as I can get through that baffling opening, I’m okay with it.

Wearing Tango today which has black pepper in it but it’s a big warm scent since I woke up to it snowing outside. Now, the sun is out and the snow is already starting to melt

I chose Rebecca Minkoff this morning, and it is mingling somewhat unpleasantly with the remains of African Leather on my sweater cuff. There is a sharpness in the drydown of African Leather (maybe the geranium?) that isn’t playing well with the soft tobacco of RM. I should probably go switch sweaters.
I have a Zoom blazer that I throw on for certain on-camera work meetings. It gets maybe a half hour of wear a day, so I don’t launder it as often as I did pre-Covid when it would get a full day’s wear at a time. The cuffs now have have the remains of so many different frags that it is like my own personal version of Diptyque’s 34 Boulevard. Unfortunately, my lil-bit-of-everything mix is not balanced as Diptyque’s!

I am wearing Vintage Shalimar edc over Occitane green chestnut shower cream.
Loved the new Holiday stuff at Occitane, shimmery oils, shower creams , body butters, the scents are amazingly good and lots to choose from.
That sounds like a great combination for your sotd.

still no points with Femme de Rochas, but i am smelling nice. I treated myself to a bit of icecream at the parlour in my subway, they had persian saffron ice and i looove saffron, both in scents and in my food. It was a really nice flavour.
You must have a classy subway system – alas, we have a chain juice bar and that’s about it

I left this question late yesterday so I will ask again. There seems to be supply chain issue with glass perfume atomizers. While I have plenty of 3mL and 10mL, I am down to one (you read that right, ONE 😱) 5mL left and I am hoarding it like we’re not supposed to with perfumes. Anyway, Best Bottles and SKS Bottles are out of stock for all 5mL atomizers with no date when they will become available. Any suggestions other than using the 10mL and fill it with 5mL of perfume? Thanks.
Amazon & eBay used to do little glitzy sets of 4 or 5 glass spray bottles with lipstick-style metal covers. Although those might also be caught up in supply chain issues, of course. 🤷🏻♂️

I love L’Heure Bleue too, but have only smelled the EDT before — I bet the parfum is gorgeous!

They benefit from a layer or two of parafilm tape between the threads of the bottle and cap to prevent leaks. The decant I just sent you is in the 10ml version of the same bottle.

We’re getting some wet slushy snow today, and since it’s my day off I’ve decided to bite the bullet and do the wardrobe switch. Time to pull out the winter clothes and put away the summer ones. Wah! It was abnormally warm here until recently.
My lingering congestion post-Covid has turned into a sinus infection, so I’m going to start taking antibiotics today. I hope they clear it up fast, but I know it can take a long time! I also hope this means my sense of smell will improve–it’s still not what it was.
Sampling some L’Eau Mixte by Nicolai. I don’t see peppercorn listed as a note, but it has a peppery vibe to it, and I like it!
Wet, slushy snow, yuk. I hope you feel better soon, socks.

SOTD is TF Black Orchid Parfum. Love it in the winter and it seems like that’s what season we are in today as there is snow on the ground. Too early for it as far as I am concerned.

The fastest route to work is closed indefinitely due to rain rain rain,floods and more rain this past week….and a giant sinkhole that made the bridge I drive over buckle upwards.Said bridge also goes over the major entry road to the city…we’re in for an interesting time.
The golf course on my estate also turned into a raging river over the weekend,I was THIS close to ordering a one-man rubberboat!Lol!

Hermes Ambre Narguile today. It is a bit sweeter and chewier than i recall, which is nice, but i sort of need to work my way up to heavier scents every fall. Wish I had gone for Caleche instead.

Thinking about my long-gone bottle of Penhaligon’s Lavandula, it opens with spicy and warm black pepper and has a comforting heart of lavender and musks. So sad it has been discontinued! If anybody wants to rehome their bottle, I will gladly take it.

I chose Rosa Magnifica this morning, my favorite Aqua Allegoria, still detectable and tonight it’s Aromatics Elixir.
It’s still my favorite Guerlain AA, too! I don’t wear it too often, but I do keep my bottle within reach to mist my pillow every now and then. It’s such a comforting scent to me.
So we’re twins in our love for it😃 I can imagine its working well as a bed scent.

I’m in Lost California from West Third Brand on this grey, rainy day. I went to yoga for the first time in weeks today and I am so grateful.

West Third Brand? I do like them quite a bit. I also tried their “Crazy Enough” and “I am Stardust” scents and liked them a lot, but not enough to immediately graduate to a travel spray like I did for Lost California.
I’m wearing a sample of Abel’s Cobalt Amber and really enjoying it. It has pink pepper, but the cardamom is stronger, and the tonka-cacao-amber combo dominates both. Projection and longevity-wise this is the strongest of all of the Abel’s I’ve tried and is about as strong as a mid-strength Jo Malone.
Tea this morning was Clipper Ship’s burnt sugar. But this afternoon orange spice tea is calling my name.
Also, I just wanted to post a note about how much I enjoy the Swapmeets and Splitmeets with NSTers. Each one I’ve participated in has gone well and, in addition to getting to try so many different perfumes with you all, I’ve received such lovely, thoughtful, and generous extras. This is a nice easy CP since pepper is used in so many perfumes. Today I’m in Le Labo Poivre 23 and yesterday was Ta’if for the pink pepper note. We’ve got some really nice November weather happening here. We’ve had almost a full week of sun and clouds and that should continue through the rest of this week. If I have to take my evening walk in the dark, at least the clear skies have let me see some stars!

I’m wearing LL Baie Rose on my right hand and HdP Ambrarem on my left hand—both for pepper week. The LL was pretty at first but I hate it now—I think it’s the cedar note which won’t blend in. On the other hand (literally), the Ambrarem gets better and more cozy/sweet as it goes on, despite still having hints of that shocking gasoline smell it begins with.
I’m getting ready for my trip to Portland tomorrow, and very excited! I haven’t used my suitcase for three years!

Remembered hajusuuri’s post on IG yesterday about SL Arabie. I have a partial bottle and don’t wear it enough, so a good 3-4 spritzes hit the spot. I don’t get a lot of sweetness like some do, but spicy leather doesn’t make me mad 😁

BV IS a good one! I had the cutest mini bottle that I swapped away years ago, but have often thought of it since. Being too quick a swapper has drawbacks and regrets sometimes. Hope your weather improves or you at least get some strong sunshine to chase away the doldrums. 🌞

Well actually, it’s technically not, because I bought it online over a week ago, but wouldn’t allow myself to open the box until I was able to smell the tester, which finally happened today. 🙂 So now I can open the box and enjoy!

Weather today was cold and very rainy, but it was a steady slow rain which is great for the garden (instead of the torrential downpours we often get). I’m very pleased with myself because I managed to put down organic grub control on my lawn before the rain, which watered it in.
