Please note that the intention of the splitmeet is to split newly purchased bottles of perfume, not to sell decants of fragrances already in your collection! Anyone can join a split, but only people with current, active reader accounts may host splits. A limited edition collection from By Kilian to celebrate the brand's 15th Anniversary, with decorations inspired by the Eiffel Tower. Shown is Love, Don't Be Shy (€250); there are also special editions of Angel's Share, Black Phantom and Good Girl Gone Bad. Already available at Breuninger in Germany, and presumably coming everywhere else eventually.

It’s Friday, and it’s Ursula LeGuin’s birthday. Our community project for today: choose a work of speculative fiction or a character from such a work, and wear the fragrance that you think fits. Your chosen work can be written, audio or visual. Bonus points if you choose a work of LeGuin’s or one of the shortlisted works for the inaugural Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction.

This beautiful Mediterranean scent

I grew up in Algiers (the capital city of Algeria), I lived in a bucolic street called “street of the pines”. This street is lined by majestic pine trees. Every day when I came back from school, I observed these huge trees, and I smelled their woody fresh, balsamic, and resinous smells. Their invigorating scents mingled with the solar fragrance of the jasmine flowers in my garden. This beautiful Mediterranean scent is my childhood memory.
