Happy Halloween! (It's also, sadly, Monday.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Kerosene Follow, which features just a bit of my absolute favorite candy, chocolate.
Reminder: 11/4 is National Candy Day. Wear a fragrance inspired by candy, or wear Prada Candy or any other fragrance named for a candy of any kind, or forget the gourmands but wear a fragrance with at least one note that recalls a flavor in one of your favorite candies.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m not much for candy or gourmands, but I’ll see what I can dig up. Yesterday I work AS Sunday, and today I think I’m going for Felanilla. Vanilla works, right?
I have the worst time with the Tauer website. I got the email about Golestan, but either the site is down or it hates me (really, could be either!). Here’s hoping I can get in eventually and get a bottle. (Over the summer, I was getting 404 errors trying to access the site from every device / wifi network I tried, but I’ve been able to access the site recently.)

Most of the day will be warm and sunny, with cloudy skies and possible rain tonight. I saw a good amount of kids and adults already in costumes in the street. After all Covid restrictions for the past 2 years, it is nice to feel that happy Halloween vibe around again!
Mom arrived at 6am this morning. She immediately collapsed in bed very exhausted. I am sure she will deeply sleep for the next couple of days. I will stop by at my sister’s later this afternoon to see my twin nieces dressed up as faeries. They are so excited about it! 🧚♀️🧚🏼♀️

I’m in the last of my Francesca Bianchi Unspoken Musk sample. I thought this was a little sweet the first time I tried it, but then the drydown was amazing.
I’m not big on gourmands generally speaking, but I’ve got a few options for Friday.
It’s another gorgeous day out! We are on a roll, supposed to hit 70 this Wednesday and Thursday. They say today will be one of the warmest Halloween’s on record for us. You will hear no complaints from me.
Yesterday I was quite productive and got the oven and the cabinet underneath the sink cleaned. I can’t remember the last time I cleaned the oven😬, now I don’t want to use it, it’s so sparkly clean!

Love a clean oven! I find any grease that is “baked into” the surface a huge pain to clean (and sometimes fail) so I try to be good and clean relatively regularly.
Much smarter than my approach.😂 My thing is the fridge, I’m always wiping it out. Any crumbs or drips on the shelves drive me crazy.
Oh, cleaning my oven has been hanging over my head for months. It’s so bad and I hate doing it but I am going to have to just do it soon.
I hear ya, that’s the exact predicament I was in. Every time I opened it I was reminded how badly it needed to be done and then when I wasn’t using it, it was out of sight out of mind!🤣 Feels good to have it done.

Seasonally apprpriate since I’m sampling Dia de los Muertos from Fabled Fragrances which has caramel as one of its notes. This is a wonderful fall scent of cozy baked goods and will be going on the to-buy list

I went a different direction today before I read NST. I choose smoke and ash instead of candy, Solstice Scents Woodfire. It’s wood, burning leaves, soot with a very slight undertone of whiskey. I’m not sure they still make it, they rotate their production pretty often, but it’s a nice fall scent. I did just order some of their whipped soap in Blackburns Parlor.

I’m in a little smoosh of Diptyque Essences Insensées 2016 solid, the rose one. Not quite a dark rose, but a twilit one for sure. Solids may not be as complex as liquid scents but they sure are easy to travel with.
Bought the Lush Garden set over the weekend: I needed a backup of Lust anyway, Rose Jam is never out of place, and I’m willing to take a chance on the other three.
I have almost bought it several times 🙂

Halloween still isn’t big here so yesterday afternoon the father of the kids next door called by with bags of sweets so that we had something to hand out to his kids when they came trick and treating later. He did that for all the houses down our end of the street. The kids were great: a zombie cowgirl, and a boy who looked like a fire grate with a chainsaw in his hand. No idea what that was…and he didn’t know either. Kind of charcoal BBQ meets lumberjack.

I’m wearing Tauer’s Incense Rose. When I got the email about his new fragrance I realized that I would obviously have to buy the miniature and that it may be a good time to grab one of the full bottles I’ve been eyeing. So I’ll try out some full bottle contenders over the next few days.
I have no idea why I’m always surprised by how good this smells. Apparently I have the scent memory of a goldfish.

I was having the same conversation in my head! I’ve been wanting a full bottle of Au Couer and thought about getting the mini of the new one. I’m not really a floral gal, but the base notes lead me to believe it will a floral like PHI is a rose…not dominant, but in the mix of other magic. Also, I’m pretty sure last week I said “no more!” to perfume purchases…🤭

Commando so far because I had a checkup appointment this morning — will likely wear Dryad for the afternoon and evening. This will be the first Halloween we’ve answered the door to trick-or-treaters since covid, and I’m toying with the idea of dressing up for it in a witch costume I’ve had for years. Probably won’t, because I think the kids think that adults in costume is just silly … but might change my mind. Swept-porch twins with MossyBerry at least. 🎃
I thought about a costume for tonight as well. But just couldn’t summon up enough creativity for it.
Sparse trick or treaters for me so far. Only 5 kids.
I had a huge group of 10 right at 6 pm, then only 5 more kids after that. Tons of candy left. Too much rain, I think.
I’m starting candy week with Angel Muse. I’m pretty sure I have a sweet scent for every day this week and ten years ago didn’t like gourmands! It’s interesting how perfume tastes evolve.
I’ve definitely seen some shifts in perfume notes I like versus ones I don’t in the past decade.
Spring is slowly getting warmer, the sun is shining at the moment, so my day is starting well.
I’m wearing an orange dress, so I’m thinking of an orange perfume, the Alien Eau Luminescente in the orange bottle. There was nothing Halloweeny to report from here, but my dress is the right colour for a pumpkin 🙂

I’m working tonight which is fine. I’ve never been a Halloween person. I took my kids when they were little and am pretty glad that they don’t go anymore. I am twins with pl67 in vintage Poison.
I went to the mall after I arrived in NJ. Why are the kiddies at the mall after 5:45PM when everyone knows the candies all get gobbled up by 3PM? I hope the parents have back-up candy!

Speaking of which, although not Halloween, I saw the cat in a Santa costume at Home Goods. It was in the clearance section, along with its dog twin. Anyway, my heart went pitter patter but eh, there was no clearance tag! I went to the cashier anyway because if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Well, the cashier I had was nasty. When I asked her to get the manager, she said the manager was going to say the same thing. She did, but in a nastier sneering tone. She kept saying it’s “new” and Home Goods just got it…and she kept saying October 21. I said October 2021 or October 2022? Anyway, bottom line was that it was not on clearance and the manager and her manager blamed it on shoppers. I just said they better check their clearance sections because they are filled with non clearance items! And seriously, what shopper would put 2 big heavy items on the top-most shelf? Not me. I decided to not be nasty as I am still feeling the glow of my niece’s wedding.
And Powerball! I saw a billion prize and said you got to be in it to win it, so I bought some. In the meantime, I had a ticket from last Thursday and thought I would check to see if I won anything. I was in NJ but I bought the ticket in NY. Answer me this question – shouldn’t I be able to check the ticket I bought in NY with the lottery agent in NJ? Well, think again! What is the point of a multi-state lottery if there’s no reciprocal way of checking the ticket automatically?
That lottery ticket business sounds silly to me. Maybe that’s why I don’t buy them… 🤣😉
