I was trying to reach for something in my overhead kitchen cupboard so I climbed up my kitchen counter, somehow I managed to scrape my shin and rip a whole chunk of skin off. The wound is an inch long and half an inch wide. Ouchie, so much blood. I was also wearing my jeans and I am guessing the rough denim helped the ripping process. 😭

I’m wearing Pear, Inc. from the Juliette Has a Gun discovery set. I smell no pear at all. It’s not a scrubber, but there’s no pear on my skin.
No pear is a plus in my book, but maybe not in yours.

I woke up this morning to my FIL chai cooking on the stove.
Ready for a fun Diwali and to stuff my face with food. Every year our friends that we celebrate with pick a different region of India to have the food cater from.
For perfume, I can’t decide. I am doing my makeup in Chantecaille products so I am thinking Oud Fume or Kalimantan. Any preference?
I bought the black jaguar eye shadow quad and I am in love with it.

Yay for FIL chai – so glad you have him in your life. I was very close to my FIL who, though a corporate chemist and later a Florida high school chem teacher, was still all his life an old West Virginia farmer. He and I loved the quiet of garden work and I loved his grapefruit and oranges from two back yard trees. Happy Diwali and have a samosa for me!

I’m sitting in a cloud of Profumum Alba. Seriously gorgeous, and it doesn’t take more than a couple of dabs — must be why the FB comes with a supplemental roller bottle and a funnel. Said bottle is sitting in my LS cart right now, taunting me, and I’m running through all the justifications for breaking my promise to finish the sample before caving in and just buying. Argh.

I thought about splitting, but (a) my decanting supplies are very low right now, and (b) the thought of calculating costs and figuring out payment just sounds exhausting. Swapping is much more up my alley. I’m going to mull for a while longer. And THEN cave. 😂

One last spectacular day of 70s and gorgeous color, I think tomorrow’s predicted rain will bring a lot of the leaves down. We made the most of the weekend with drives, walks and outside time; even had a little campfire with morning coffee today. Larry the cat and I will miss having the windows open.
I was craving Aura this morning but it’s not working for me now, I’ll switch to Memories of a Trespasser after a shower. Aura sometimes gets a cleaning fluid smell to me.

In Rodin 3 for a CP adjacent fragrance (Geranium flower top note rather than the leaf). I think this is an unsung perfume hero – light, yes but complex and satisfying.

I’ve been battling a head cold for 2-3 days, which is annoying. I’m wearing Le Lion today and smelling fine even through all the excess mucous production! It’s damp and chilly but it looks like it’s trying clear up way in the distance. I see a scrap of blue which may be giving me false hope.
My otter friend 🦦visited again yesterday. I happened to look out the window as I was making dinner and saw his adorable head gliding through the water. By the time I got my boots on and grabbed my binoculars, he was already way out in the channel. Oh well, maybe another time.
Hope the cold gets better Deva, and hope Mr. Otter pops by to visit again.

Thanks for all the good vibes for the big work event on Saturday. It was a lot of fun and a good celebration of a significant institutional milestone. I was surprised to see so many current undergraduates there, but a colleague pointed out that her students were very excited to have a chance to dress up and dance to live music, given that so many of them missed their proms because of Covid. (Normally, I would have expected them to avoid the passel of Olds at this event.)
Submitted a journal article today, about six weeks later than I anticipated. But at least it’s sent, which is a relief. Now on to other projects!
Will have to read up on geranium leaf as a fragrance note for this week’s CP.

In Rive Gauche for Kitty’s annual check up and shots. He was pronounced a tubby tabby by our Veterinarian so bedtime snacks and second breakfast must come to an end. He only needs to shed a little so hopefully he won’t notice. He’s not yet 2 so I think his natural desires to race around will get him trimmed up soon. Lots of treats at Splitmeet – kid in a candy store time!
It’s good news on the kitty’s front. I expect he will loose the weight easily with not having a second breakfast.
Glad that your kitteh isn’t on a prescription food to lose weight. That gets expensive fast!

I have a geranium with leaves that smell like mint…trying to smell like that may be the best I can do for this CP. (Though, come to think of it, I don’t have many perfumes with mint notes, either.)

We just got a countertop electric smoker and made smoked pork chops last night. Our house smells very cozy still from the smoke. My husband is going nuts with his gadget–we got an 8-pack of various woods and he’s already done pineapple w/peach wood, the pork chops with maple and a quick cold smoke today of chocolate balsamic drizzled on strawberries with cherry wood.
Sampling PK Perfumes’ Cuir Moderne which is a fruity leather with no smoke tones. I may just have to pick my scents on how well they go with woodsmoke…

Smoked turkey is a fun twist for Thanksgiving. Back in grad school, my roommates and I hosted an annual Friendsgiving. We would smoke a turkey for it (or maybe a bunch of turkey breasts — I vaguely remember a kerfuffle with the smoker holding less that we thought it would). It was a huge hit with everyone. Much more flavor than a standard roast.
(I am vegetarian now and pulled pork and home-smoked turkey are the only flavors I really miss.)

It’s a gloomy, drizzly/rainy afternoon with fog here. I had a late afternoon dentist appointment. Just the typical, and my dentist said that everything looked good. So I go back in 6 months.
SOTD = one spray of SSS Incense Pure. Didn’t want to gas anyone out during my appointment.
We are Scent Twins although I wore 5 sprays today even though I commuted in to work. Today, for the first time, I smelled vanilla and I scratched my head thinking really? I just looked it up and yes, there’s vanilla!
