The weather is nice and breezy today. I will go for a long walk later in the day.

Jealous of your nice and breezy! We are chilly, rainy, and we had no working furnace last night…carbon monoxide alarm went off and we had to turn it off. House is just now starting to heat back up, but I’m in fleece for the moment!
It will be raining here too, starting Wednesday until don’t know when…the forecast shows rain for the foreseeable future. Ugh.

I’m working on this week’s quintuple Guerlain bonus (so exclusive). I could only call four Guerlains readily to mind because those are the four I wear all the time, but to my surprise I have eight of them at hand.
It’s a cold morning so I was going to wear Aqua Allegoria Winter Délice but 1) I can’t for the life of me find out who the nose was and 2) I have to face the fact that it has gone completely haywire, a decline that started a few years ago and appears to be accelerating. It’s no longer wearable, really, and what a shame that is.
So I’m wearing another AA, Anisia Bella by Aurélien Guichard, a blind buy that worked out so well. It’s sort of Herba Fresca softened and warmed up with anise and licorice — and unlike most of the AAs in my experience it has an actual drydown, a warm creamy cedar of the sort that Robin dubbed “wood pudding”.
Ouch. Sorry to hear that the Winter Delice is a goner!
Isn’t it awful? But it teaches us a lesson: that we have to appreciate what we have, because we don’t know how long we’ll have it. I try to wear all my most beloved scents regularly and not save them for special occasions, because one day I might reach for one and find it’s said goodbye without me.

Today I’m wearing Oliver Peoples from byredo. I think I may spend some time this week with discontinued fragrances that I tend to hoard a bit too much. Life is too short not to wear the beauties!
For any fans of 19-69 who can access Sephora USA, they have started carrying some of the brand. I have no idea why, but the prices on the scents they have are far less than other places – I got a 30 ml bottle of Rainbow Bar for $75, and it costs $100 for the same bottle at Luckyscent. The 100 ml bottles were $20 cheaper. There’s also travel sprays.

Well, I’m in Rose Barbare, and there will be no shower. I was adding some everclear to my tiny, syrupy decant of RB, and bobbled the thing on the bathroom counter. 🙄 I quickly mopped it up with my arms, so I’m in Rosereeksville for the rest of the day. This is getting pretty loud, so I might have to shower anyway. Ugh.
Joining Robin in dabs of Jicky this morning. It’s quite delightful, but its eensy bit of skank is what keeps me from indulging in it often enough to justify having more than a ml or two on hand. Apparently I’m a skank weenie. 😀

Me too! I want to love Jicky but the only version I can handle is vintage from a cute mini I was lucky enough to pick up at a garage sale a few years ago.
I’m wearing Habit Rouge edp from a decant. I have enough Guerlains in decant form for at least a week, but from very few of the perfumers. Habit Rouge edp is from Jean-Paul Guerlain (and so are many of the others that I have).
I probably have the most from JPG too.
Wearing Guerlain Vol de Nuit EdT. I totally forgot that I had a full bottle and after I finished my decant a couple of years ago, I thought about getting a new one. This morning while looking for my bottle of Shalimar EdP, I grabbed by accident the box with Vol de Nuit. What a shocking and happy surprise! I sprayed lavishly, since it is very fleeting on me.

Jicky three! I’m NOT a skank weenie but even I go easy on Jicky, it’s very powerful. Plus I’m not a huge lavender fan in perfumes and Jicky reeks of it.
Plus I’m thrilled that LUSH has brought back the traditional Golden Pear soap this holiday!! The one shaped like a pear. Last year was a disappointing slice of soap that didn’t smell the same at all. I’ve “heard” they got lots of bad reviews and complaints, so Power to the People! Ha

As I discovered last year when I got the PERFUME CABINET and finally pulled all my bottles together in one place, it turns out I’m quite the Guerlain fangirl. I have more Guerlain than any other house, which honestly I didn’t think was true. But the cabinet doesn’t lie. I ought to be able to get full CP points this week, if I pay attention.
I’m starting the week with one of Guerlain’s Perfumes Of Many Names (I wish they wouldn’t do that…) At various times it’s been Les Voyages Olfactifs 04 Paris-London (seriously?), Imagine, and Rue de Rivoli. Mine’s the latter. Rhubarb, grapefruit, bergamot, rose, violet, black tea, vetiver, cedar. Light, a little sweet, summery. Thierry Wasser is the nose.
What does your perfume cabinet look like? I’m seriously thinking of getting one. Shallow and broad? I’d love a wall-mounted one but it would never get installed.

Oh, I really like that perfume from the one sample I had years back. I wish they’d turn it into a less pricier perfume if they’re going to keep repurposing it.
I’m wearing Bvlgari Jasmin Noir l’essence, which is a bit different from the discontinued original but still a good almond-wood scent. This one has…maybe some resin of some sort?

I tried this one a long time ago from a dabber and wasn’t wowed by it…this is a spray and I am really enjoying it.
I really dislike dabbers and feel like I can’t properly assess perfumes by dabbing. Really wish Luckyscent and the like would charge a bit more and go to sprays.

Agree — I hate dabbers and never really feel like I get a great feel for the perfume from the Luckyscent samples. I would happily pay for a spray.
I also agree – so jealous of people who can dab on a few swipes and get to know a perfume. I got a box of 3ml spray bottles and I decant everything, though unless I get two of a dabber, I don’t mess with it.
I’m wearing Bottega Veneta today. We have been enjoying a run of gorgeous fall days here, many trees are showing color now. Also cool and breezy!

In other news, both my BIL AND my sister tested positive for COVID. My sister said it just felt like a cold and while she looked like death warmed over on Friday (via FaceTime), she looked good Saturday and Sunday. I have not seen my BIL at all but on a good day 🤐. I hope the dog doesn’t catch it.

A bit late but I watched a superb movie on MUBI called Wood and Water. A retired mother from the Black Forest goes to Hong Kong to visit her son. The protests are filling the streets. It is very spare, almost minimalist but with great weight.

Guerlain week – I can really get into this, I have more Guerlains than anything else. I’ll start with Encens Mythique d’Orient, a good perfume for a cold day. We’re heading for record cold temperatures for October over the next couple of days, winter just won’t let go.

Starting off Guerlain week with perfumer Delphine Jelk’s recent addition Rose Cherie from a sample. Lovely cherries and rosy violet cosmetics. Lost Cherry is still my reigning favorite of this type, but I do enjoy Rose Cherie. A pretty thing on a Monday.

It was, thank you. I finally got motivated to bake a pie, clean my closet and do some yoga. I’ve been in such a deep rut of sadness and worry for the last 2.5 years, I am consciously working to release that and get back to feeling normal despite what’s going on with my parents.

Gosh I am awful at description. I think it smells like the original but not as strong and I think it’s more refined. I get a good blast of licorice at first but it mellows out pretty quickly. I like it most out of the one’s I have tried.

Day 4 of rain, and weather that better suits the Pacific Northwest in Winter than the Mid-Atlantic region in early Autumn. Seriously unmotivated today but got a load of laundry done anyway.
Mr. Jalapeno’s stepmom continues her post-surgical recovery. She seems to be doing really well, from what I have been told. He said that things are mostly back to normal in the Daytona Beach area although there are piles of stuff in the streets and the grocery stores are short on inventory.
SOTD = Opium EdP, pre-2009 forumation. I started wearing this over the weekend when the weather turned wet and chilly. Guess I get to wear it for a while longer, LOL.
And that should be “pre-2009 formulation” up above. I failed my proof reading, and Spellcheck was worthless!

Very late today, but toeing the CP line in Guerlain Tonka Imperiale. I have no clue who cooked this one up, but kudos to them because it’s lovely. I just thunked (tinked?) my manufacturers spray sample, but a lot of it had evaporated since I last used it. Life is so transitory… There’s a lesson in non-attachment in this, I believe. Still, I wouldn’t say “no” to more…
It’s hard to keep an eye on evaporation when we are wearing something different almost everyday.
