Today I’m probably overdoing it in several spritzes of Bulgari Omnia. I finally realized why I love it so much: it’s so *modern* (and not in the Comme des Garçons toner-and-lightbulbs sense). It doesn’t really fit into any of the existing categories: it’s completely its own thing. There’s nothing weird about it — it’s just flat-out beautiful in a way that no other scent has ever been.
Since about half the population can’t smell it at all, overdoing it is probably ok 😉

Well, I bought a bottle of Azzaro The Most Wanted at Ulta yesterday, I had a lot of $ in points that would have expired September 30th. I really like it on myself but it smells wonderful on my husband, who never wears fragrance. It’s going to be very warm today so TMW probably isn’t the best choice but I couldn’t resist.
I can definitely get behind double cheeseburger day but I won’t.
If I don’t maintain my diamond status at Ulta, I have to use my points at the end of the year.
I tried to smell this at ulta the other day, but no tester.
Wearing Bijan for women today and am happy to break out my fall scents now that it’s cooled down. I was reminded of this by the Mackie yesterday, but if they have similarities then Mackie is definitely the little sister, all white florals and fruit while Bijan is packed with honey and resins. Strangely it seems almost masculine in comparison.

They still use the same design, which I think is wise. It’s very striking.
Debating whether I’m going to wear perfume today; if I do, it’ll have to be something close to the skin, as Ockeghem Tween has a doctor’s appointment this afternoon. We’ve been waiting on this appointment for about 6 months, so it’s a relief to finally be able to go.
At the same time, I have a feeling that a lot of stuff is about to hit the fan at work, things I’ve known were in the works because I’ve been working on bits and pieces of them. It’s been too quiet this week, and it’s Board week. And now standing meetings are getting cancelled. Not a good sign.

Kind of still on my iris week as I think violet smells like iris. SOTD is Peach Blossom, Violet and Vanilla Dame. Very nice and soft.
When I wear Hiris, it reminds me very much of Violetta. Both make me utterly happy (and I unintentionally sprayed some Hiris on my bathrobe on Monday, and could still smell it yesterday!).

Mr. Skal woke up feeling better but just wore himself out teaching (online). Now that we CAN shift classes online, it seems that we’ve convinced ourselves there is no such thing as a real sick day. I am still okay — thanks again for the good wishes.

I wore Lush’s Tank Battle early today and switched to Like This after my shower. I prefer this perfume when it’s cold, but I’m enjoying it quite a bit on this sunny, windy, high 70s day.
My dog caught a falling leaf in her mouth and ran around the yard with it for several minutes. She looked so proud.

SOTD is hima jomo’s Autumn in Lhoka. It is a bone dry spicy amber. Cinnamon leaf (or what I think of as cinnamon leaf) dominates on me, followed by incense and patchouli. The brand lists barley and brans and note and I get them for a split second as I start to inhale, but they are gone before I can really process them. As a result I’m going light headed from too much quick sniffing. 🙂
Drinking a big mug of Earl Grey and loving the cooler fall weather today, finally. All my windows are open!

We’ve been under a HEAVY marine layer the last 48 hours and it’s gotten noticeably cooler. Burn ban has been lifted and we had a lovely roaring campfire last night, the first in a very long time. Very atmospheric as the mist crept stealthily from the beach into the camping area last night! Consequently, today I smell like a bit of woodsmoke mixed with the Fils de Dieu, which I sprayed yesterday, and is now embedded in my t-shirt.
Poor baby T-Rex got attacked yesterday while we were walking back to the van at the Devil’s Punchbowl. A dog streaked out from between some cars and basically T-Boned her, sent her flying 🍑 over teakettle and then jumped on her back and bit right alongside her spinal area and shook her like a rag doll. I was screaming, the owner was screaming, and it was chaos. I had just cocked my leg back to give him a good kick when he let her loose, streaked off again, made a big circle and started heading back again! Ugh, what a mess! Thankfully, she was wearing her sweater and when he initially grabbed her, he got a mouthful of fleece. She now has puncture holes in it from his canines. T-Rex didn’t seem to be injured, other than being totally shocked at being knocked off her paws and having me screaming like a banshee. I have been sadly disgusted by dog owners the past few weeks. So many unsocialized, untrained, and aggressive dogs that people leave off lead even in densely populated areas with heavy traffic. It’s only a matter of time before dogs are banned in a lot more places thanks to irresponsible owners. Just thankful my doggo is not injured! She just got a bunch of love from one of the rangers here, so that made her day. 😍
Rant aside, we have nothing planned today, but I will re-spritz my Fils and smell well all day! Cheers and waft on!

Oh my goodness!!! Scary stuff! One of my co-workers broke her hand because she punched another dog who was attacking her dog at a dog park.
I am also sadly disgusted by some dog owners. There are many places that I walk where the dogs must be leashed but aren’t or dogs aren’t allowed but they are there anyway. I wouldn’t mind but the dogs are generally extremely large and out of control lunging and barking wildly at walkers and bikers..as you said, unsocialized, untrained and aggressive.
I am glad that TRex was unscathed by the whole incident.
Thanks, and I hope you co-worker avoids dog parks from now on. They’re the worst spot for dog fights and injuries. Better to find friends who have dogs, and let the dogs play in a limited area with supervision, for sure.

I have neighbors who let their various dogs over the years out without a leash. Once one of them came in my yard and tried to attack my daughter. Luckily her dad was right there to fend him off. My mom called animal control on them. To this day they hold it against me. Oh well.
Yeah, the only thing worse than people making bad decisions is people who make bad decisions and then blame some one else for the result. I’m glad your daughter was not injured!
Devil’s Punchbowl has been a BUSY place every time I’ve been there. (Well, maybe except when I was 3. I don’t remember how busy it was then!) Why on earth would anyone have their dog off leash? Grr. Glad T-Rex is okay.
It was moderately busy when I was there, probably because it was a weekday. The dog actually was on a leash, but she had her 5 year holding it while she was attempting to put a muzzle on him. Obviously, he has a history of aggression. He saw T-Rex and took off. Serious lack of common sense. Her kids were all crying because they thought their dog “was gonna get killed by that bad dog!” When I told the mom I wanted her name and contact info, she told me I had an “attitude”…🙄 So over some people.
Poor T-Rex! 😧 It’s a good thing only her sweater has puncture holes in it, and not her neck. Our first dog was attacked by a pit bull once, and he ended up with the latter.
Yes, very happy it was only the fleece. Very sorry to hear about your dog. I hope he/she healed well and did ok after that trauma. Jeez, and to think many of these people are also raising kids…😳

Oh sorry, maybe I should have been clearer about that! But she is (thankfully) fine and seems to be her usual happy go lucky self. I still can’t believe how hard he went after her! But, we met a ton of nice people today and she got all kinds of attention and love, so that made me feel better for her. 😍
Deva, I was once bitten by an unleashed dog in my own front yard, so I’m completely in sympathy with your views on untrained, unleashed, unmanageable dogs. I am so glad you and T-Rex avoided injury.

Right? When she said that to me, I was going over T-Rex to make sure there wasn’t any blood or open areas, and I looked up at her in response. Whatever look I had on my face made her back up two steps and she changed her tune to “oh, I’d be so upset too…” lol!

I have bear spray that I take hiking if I’m in bear country and I keep it close at hand when in the van in case any two leggeds come prowling, but in a situation like this it wouldn’t have done any good because both dogs would have gotten blasted. It’s very strong and incapacitating and might have made things worse. Personally, I’d like to have sprayed the owner…🫢
Totally deviated from any of my perfumed plans for this week and opted for a spritz or 5 from my Mom’s bottle of Royal Secret.
They asked me at work several times what I was wearing today and I just said “It’s a royal secret…”Lol.

I’m in the new Divine Orange Rouge. This one is very pretty. Not a tart, juicy perfume, but more of a warm orange grove and florals scent. As it dries down, the florals take center stage with orange blossom in the lead (but not a soliflore at all).
So, which of the 2 do you like better?

Today, it has abruptly gone from air conditioner weather to fireplace weather so pulled out the beautiful Mohur. Geez I love this one!
This isn’t happy talk but I’m throwing it out here because I don’t know what to do…our city’s homeless crisis really has escalated. The area around my house has become something of a gathering spot for drug users. This morning there was a woman, clearly wildly impaired smoking “something” from a pipe, flailing around right beside our house for several hours. It was making me very nervous, but I’m not sure if I should call the police. Would they do anything? She isn’t technically on our property but right beside it. Ugh.
Some cities have a Department of Homeless Services, or a division within the Health Department that provides homeless services. They may not be the people who would address an issue like the one you had this morning, but they likely know who you should call.

Not sure where you are, but we’re having the same problem here in my city. I live 10 or 15 blocks from the worst of it, so it hasn’t been too much crazier than normal in my neighbourhood, but friends who live right downtown have been telling me that over COVID it’s gotten much worse, many more tents, a lot of fire hazards. (Even here, the church next to my strata was letting someone camp in their back lot, and he lit our hedge on fire a couple months back.)
I think the police here would come if someone’s clearly in drug-induced distress and causing a disturbance, if only just to move them on.
Yes the Covid era and brutal housing here have had a major impact, and our previously quiet residential neighborhood now routinely has tents popping up in alleys, sidewalks, everywhere. I really do feel for what these people are going through, but it also scares me and saddens me that we have come to just accept it. I have no answers.
My biggest fear is fire…we live in a 100+ year old wood frame house and it would just take one careless accident to take this whole place down in a flash!
I would call the police if it was me. It’s awful what is going on now. I’m sorry, it’s getting very scary. You could also call your mayor’s office to voice your concerns.

I’m joining Gaynor in ELd’O Spice Must Flow. I’m finding it a bit harsh in the opening, although it has softened up quite a bit. That’s on my right wrist. On my left is Experimentum Cruciatus (horrible name), and I’m liking it much more. I had tried it earlier and found it too incense-y for me, but this time I can smell the rose that others have mentioned previously. They have both lasted all day!

Robin, I am glad you are recovering. I’m hoping your energy comes back soon. I have an appointment for a flu shot and the bivalent Covid booster on Saturday, so I’m prepared not to do much on Sunday. But today, while wearing the lovely Woman in Gold, I am pulling my hair out trying to bolt a glass top to a new desk I bought. I’ve been at it for 45 minutes and still no luck. There’s a shelf in the way and very little clearance for tools or hands, for that matter. I may call the company help line soon.
Good luck on all counts. DIY for me invariably ends up with the D = Disaster although last week I was able to change a light bulb in my kitchen!

So, not that it would matter me leaving my comments here… my meal was overall good, but since the restaurant was not crowded, I will have to conclude that it was either the kitchen staff or the server or both that had a lack of attention to details:
– I asked for pickles on the side instead of on my burger – I did not get the pickles and had to ask for it.
– I asked for no salt on the sweet potato fries and, you guessed it, there was salt and plenty of it. I suppose I should have refused to eat it but I ended up finishing that and ordered a second batch and made sure to tell the server no salt. It took longer than usual to get it and the server came to apologize and said they had to cook a new batch. So what happened the first time?
It seems it would take less time to make them without salt.
Burger looks good though!
They did a short cut. They already had a tray of salted so they thought I wouldn’t notice. Blah!
I like a bit of salt on sweet potato fries. Otherwise, they are too sweet for me.
They were bland but I ate them with ketchup 😆
I like malt vinegar with fries of any kind. Not everybody has it as a condiment, though.
We got double cheeseburgers too! And fries! and then went and got excellent gelato (1/2 scoop dark chocolate + 1/2 scoop of peach lavender). Had to eat all of it sitting in the car since I am still sick, but yay, actually got out of the house and got excellent junk good.
(And if it helps, I asked for the burger in a lettuce wrap instead of a bun, just got it sitting in a box. I was too hungry to care. Very few burger joints do a decent lettuce wrap anyway….usually only 5 guys does it properly. I did get my pickles though!)

It was a busy day at work, I just wore what I had in my work bag, which was a sample of Bleu Lazuli.
The commute into work today was measurably worse than two weeks ago, seems like we’re fully back to pre-Covid days. 😬 The peak of traffic nightmare used to be the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas…. I really hope it’s not that bad this year, but I will prepare to stay home more!
So do you have a minimum number of days you have to be in office? I have wrapped my head around the 3x per week and I hope we’re not forced to up it.
We were initially told 3 days a week, but it wasn’t really enforced uniformly. I think those whose jobs didn’t require physical presence in the office were given a lot of slack. And now I’ve discovered that certain people in my group are allowed to go in only twice a week (much like your discovered), so I’ve been only going twice. My boss does not seem to care, phew!
