(Kind of doesn’t matter to me personally at the moment, I am not up for intense, and I’m currently rewatching first 2 seasons of Derry Girls. But I am keeping a list for whenever I am able to deal again.)
Rewatching seasons 1 and 2 of Derry Girls is excellent sickroom viewing! The last two episodes of season 3 aired in Ireland *the day we flew home* to the US. I have tried very hard to avoid spoilers (both giving them, and receiving them about those two episodes). Glad that Netflix finally announced a US air date!
Yes — perfect, and they are even better the 2nd time.
And, looks like they will drop the whole season at once, which is nice.

I hesitated to get it when I saw it at Trader Joe’s this past weekend. But I like it a lot and it is not so sweet. So many new, crazy pumpkin items there. I got a some of them. Fingers crossed they don’t disappoint! 😀

Thanks to a generous nster, I have enough ELdO samples to last me the whole week plus, so I’m doubling up. Yesterday I tried Rien on one wrist and Rossy de Palma on the other. Rien really reminded me of the sandalwood oil I used to wear in college. I liked it and will have to revisit the sample. Today it’s Putain des Palaces on one wrist and Dangerous Complicity on the other. I like them both!
After two days of rain and gray skies, the sun is back today.🌞 So happy to see it!
My son is traveling this week for work and just happens to be spending a few nights in the city where my older daughter goes to college. They are planning on hanging out together. Warms my heart.☺️

I’m wearing Scents of Wood Santal Umeshu. Sandalwood and gingery umeshu dominate, but there is also a nice hit of vanilla that smooths out some of the umeshu tartness. After about 10 minutes with it on skin, I sprayed my hair (which I don’t usually do) because I wanted to feel surrounded by this. It makes for a lovely hug. I looking forward to burning the candle version of this.
Tea this morning is a Puer Buttercream from Clipper Ship, and I’m already thinking about london fogs for this afternoon.

SWaA is soft and easy to wear. It’s fairly evenly split between iris, musk and vanilla on my skin. The musk is fairly clean but I don’t get any dryer sheet vibes at all. It’s a great bedtime scent, but I have to spray it an hour or so before I hit the hay.
I can send you some of it if you’d like, or some of the Ganymede. Not sure which one you were asking about…?

Fat Electrician for me today. Also yesterday. It feels like fall around here, and Fat Electrician works. I only have two ELdOs, so I’ll keep the second for Friday. (Though I should have a sample of a third at my sister’s house waiting on me.)
Robin, I hope you’re feeling better. I was basically down for 5 days when I had COVID, and then was fine. Hoping it’s the same for you.
Well now I am good and jealous. I am on Day 6, and while I am actually downstairs (all morning! For me that is already an improvement) and getting a few things done, I basically feel like death warmed over.

Or I’m just unlucky, or have an overactive immune system, I don’t know. I know people who have had it much easier and people who have had it much worse, all recent.
I think there is still a lot of variation with COVID, I would guess based on genetics. It is very difficult to confront a virus which causes a cold in some people and kills others. But the vaccines seem to be a big help, far fewer deaths. Hope you feel better soon.
Started out the day in JHAG Musc Invisible. I was supposed to have 2 appointments set up today but people canceled at last minute so I launched my vacation early browsing at a local shopping center. Got some button fly white jeans on sale – have been looking for white jeans for years and never could get anything that fit right but voila, these were marked down. Also found that Neiman Marcus has Frederic Malle, sniffed a couple, will have to try others later.
Yes…I assume being vaxed & boosted was a big help. I was very sick but never felt any need to be in hospital.

I really enjoyed Fat Electrician yesterday, once I reapplied it. Not hankering after a FB, but I will certainly use up the sample.
I just tested Fat Electrician the other day. I found it to be quite masculine, but I do like it. Sounds like you enjoy it as well.
Scent twins! This is one of my favorite fall frags, along with SL Vetiver Oriental. I still love my vetivers.

I also went with Agar Ebene today but I layered it on one arm with Vetiver Tonka (it makes an interesting combo, pretty masculine leaning, but I think it might need a sweet slightly floral note too…). Gonna need to sort through testers and see what might work, lol.

My ELdO scent today is Remarkable People. I’ve gotten compliments from two people at the hair salon, so it’s a winner! Very happy to be getting my roots touched up and a haircut.

In Divine’s l’été Narguilé, a humid, slightly honeyed floral with hints of tobacco. Up close, I pick up a note of something akin to playdough. My husband loved this one when I tested it last night. (That sounded, upon re-reading, NSFW. 😉 😉 😉 So, to clarify, while I was at the counter putting away dishes, he stood close behind me and murmured something like, mmm you smell gooood. Got it?)

Testing Encens Suave from my new Matière Prémière sample kit. Somewhat disappointed that they picked ZGO and Luckyscent as their two US distributors, was hoping they would have one outside CA so I could avoid the sales tax. :-/. The perfume is lovely.

In other news, NJ Transit is up to no good again today. I wanted to catch an earlier express train but it was CANCELLED. I’m sure there’s a reason but the next one was a local and it came super-crowded. I was happy that someone thoughtfully left the aisle seat open, which I took, but as it turned out, it was a couple who decided that listening to a show in full volume was appropriate. Before we got to the next local stop, a person came up to them and politely asked them to turn down the volume and it was also when I realized they barely spoke any English (I believe they were French). Anyway, the message got across somehow and all was good for 20 minutes until the woman started up again but chose to stop after a minute or so because the train car was really quiet. We know the rules in the first car! Oh, and I got in half an hour later than I wanted to …

I love iris, period! It’s not at all like Splendiris. Trimerous is on the earthy and bright side.
I have just started becoming more interested in iris. I didn’t really care for it years ago. All week I have been trying different scents with an iris note. I am putting this on my list to get a sample.

I saw that article yesterday but neglected to look at the comments, in fact, I almost never think to look at comments at NYT, and wow, SO MANY, and so many are SO MEAN! Some of the comments are indeed entertaining but it was also kind of like listening to people yell at each other over politics.

Wearing Bijou Romantique for the CP. I don’t have very many ELDO scents, I blind bought a travel spray of BR because it is said to be similar to several scents I love, like Shalimar and Musc Ravageur. It is nice, but I much prefer the other two! 😝

So glad you have been able to resume a little bit of activity, Robin, it’s a good sign, so sorry you had to deal with Covid, I think it might have been worse in the winter while you can take gentle walks and build your strength up.
More duty-free thoughts, I tried TF Noir Extrême Parfum and didn’t like it one bit. Too dense, too strong which has obliterated the complexity of the original which I love.
It hasn’t been getting good reviews. I’ve read lost its complexity a few times. It’s a shame.
I had no prejudice as I hadn’t investigated before trying it, thank you very much for your input, even the SA was telling me it was too much for her too. I don’t know how much more expensive than the OG it is but certainly not worth it.

Snow again but it won’t linger. Just a dusting. I will go and put out food for the birds when the sun rises. They wait for me, sitting up in the bare branches of the silver birch. Their round outlines make them look like fruit…greenfinches, chaffinches, sparrows, dun nicks, blackbirds, wax eyes, bellbirds and tui…and they chatter when I come outside. Apple for the blackbird, sugar water for the tui, bellbirds and wax eyes and then grains for the rest. There’s about fifty of them, enough to give me ‘ crazy bird woman’ vibes but ai am learning so much by watching them. Anyway, off to hospital today for x rays and stuff. Then a perfume browse as a reward. Wearing Chanel 1932 because, like the snow, it will be gone by breakfast.

Thanks so much for the good wishes yesterday. I remain asymptomatic and negative; Mr. Skal now has head congestion (vs. chest). For him, he is pretty sick, but has finally gone back to bed after teaching his morning class on Zoom. I lobbied for canceling.

I seem to be testing iris scents this week. Today, thanks to a generous nster, I am in Parfum d’Empire Le Cri de la Lumiere. I find it to be a very pleasant and it could even be a fb purchase for me. I feel very classy in it.
ELdO Spice Must Flow, today, and it’s really quite good—a spicy saffron rose which changes throughout the day and takes on a mild chypre character. But not good enough for what it costs!
I think I’ll enjoy revisiting my many samples from this house this week.

I’m wearing Noel au Balcon. It was one I wanted immediately after buying a sample bag and assessing them all I still have other samples to wear later this week. I sprayed lightly because I had to o go to a dentist’s appointment this afternoon. I was all numbed up for it but now it’s wearing off and I’m close to screaming. Would it be good or bad to eat some ice cream now? Hmmm.

Are you sensitive to cold in your mouth? If so, I would advise holding off on ice cream. Brain freeze after a dental procedure is just piling on.
Yes, I am. It’s why my dentist really numbed me all up today with a lot of jabs, so she could clean off a temporary crown and rinse my tooth, dry it, and make an impression there for a new crown. She’d done all that before but apparently the molding was messed up somehow and and we had to re-do it.
Regardless of the risk, I got out a new Drumstick ice cream cone from the fridge and managed to consume it, with no pain! Hurray! I had also loaded myself up with a bunch of painkillers once I got home.
Posting a little late today. Did a late afternoon grocery run, to get a few things needed for dinner.

SOTD = ELdO Experimentum Crucis EdP, from the sample stash. I know someone here was asking about rose perfumes from ELdO, and this is another one. It’s different in character from Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection. Rossy is dark and feisty, while Experimentum is more laid back. 🌹🌹

Wore Lancome Iris Dragees today for an appointment at the provincial equivalent to the DMV. I sprayed numerous times to keep a huge cloud around me. I can still smell it 6 hours later, and it’s wonderful!

They introduced a car registration kiosk at the grocery store here. It’s so much easier than going to the branch and waiting in line. There is an extra fee of course. Lol.
That sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately I had to get a renewal so I had to get a new photo taken there. So I had to put on makeup too. I sure am out of practice with more than the ‘basics’. It involved foundation, bronzer, eyeshadow and a lipstick (as opposed to a lipbalm). That took alot out of me!
I nave to drag myself to the DMV at some point. Apparently, my current Driver’s License is no good for use as an official ID for domestic travel on a plane within the U.S. i do have to read about what I need to have with me to prove who I am and I know it’s not just presenting a passport!!!

The Real ID deadline was pushed back to some time in 2023, I thought?
FYI, if you do not have a Real ID, you can in fact use a passport. At least, that is what I was told. I have tried but so far failed to get a Real ID. If the passport works, I might just stick with it.

It felt good to release them from the basement and give them to my sister where someday my mom’s great granddaughter will appreciate them. My own daughter is not careful enough to be trusted around them.

Oh my … I blind-bought Soivohle Journeyman upon hearing that Liz Zorn is phasing out some of her lines. It arrived today and OMG folks, it’s gorgeous! Lovely, slightly dirty leather with some (but minimal) sweetness. Just my kind of thing. 😍
