Tea today is chocolate puer to keep me going after not getting a wink last night. Between traveling for a conference, sick leave, and then quarantine, I haven’t been in the office for almost a month and I think I got “first day back” jitters, which I haven’t had since I was in school. 😀 Luckily I could switch my in office day to tomorrow so that I didn’t have to drive with zero sleep. That’s a big health & safety no-no.

Was in the mall yesterday so I popped into Sephora. Tried some of the few CSPs they have: Vanille Banane is entirely delightful but nothing I could ever see myself wearing, Vanille Blackberry is mostly synthetic to my nose, and Vanilla Abricot has (because of course it has) been altered — not terrible, but not its old self.
So today I’m wearing *my* Vanille Abricot, the old 50-mL aluminum canister, at least 15 years old and pure sunshiny gorgeousness on this sunny day.

I’m wearing Basilico & Fellini, from a Vilhelm discovery set. This is my first wearing, and I thought that I had sprayed quite lightly. However, the sillage is quite strong. I like it, but like Tabu, one small spray will do.

I do like it. It’s worth buying a decant at least. I love green fragrances, but I’m not used to basil fragrances. I will definitely finish the sample.
I just checked a decant site and it listed green hay as a note in Basilico & Fellini, so I’m even CP compliant.

I’m in Cuir d’Ange today. Went a little overboard on an Hermessence binge, and this was one of the few I didn’t have in any form. A lightly dirty suede with a gorgeous floral note.

Only one hay perfume in my collection comes to mind, and I think I will save it for Friday. However, went and perused the list at Fragrantica, and it came up with Sienne l’hiver, which is not one I have ever picked up hay in.
SOTD, once I head upstairs for my shower after dealing with early morning stuff at work and getting the kid out the door for the first real day of school, will likely be Olympic Orchids Blackbird, which was also on the Fragrantica list.

How are the kittens doing?
They are reaching “teenager” stage, and they’re not happy about me going back to work and not spending every free waking moment petting, playing with, and feeding them! But, all are well, and as far as I’m able to tell, are fairly content (aside from the lack of constant attention).
There’s a lecture this afternoon in my mother’s memory. What to wear? She rarely wore perfume, and when she did it was No. 5, which I don’t have, so I chose one of her necklaces, a very subtle accent of beige-y turquoise. The beads are about 3mm in diameter, so I can pull it off. And the juice is actually her mother’s favorite: 4711 original flavor. I can’t smell it at all through my mask, but it was nice while getting ready.

Joining the CP today in LV Yerbamate. I’ve been wearing this quite a lot lately! I had forgotten about it for the longest time, and I’m enjoying it as a sister-scent to PdE Mal Aimé. It has the same herbal character but is much softer due to its powdery notes. This one’s a real sleeper.

Testing Amouage Portrayal today, after wearing another Amouage jasmine yesterday, Ashore. This one is quite different. A potent jasmine with tobacco, vanilla and elemi. Ashore is a solar beachy jasmine with ambergris and olibanum. Both lovely.

Joining PriscillaE in a Vilhelm, Dear Polly. I’m not a huge fan of tea scents but this one I love, so go figure. Weirdly, it might be the green apple note that pulls it together for me. Who knew? I don’t think I could where an apple soliflore, but I get the green apple in this and it works.
Yesterday it felt like a furnace in my neck of the woods. I’ve been whining about the cold all summer, and the first really really hot day? I folded. Shut down work early and went over to a friend’s house with a pool! My little uninsulated office hit 93, in my defense.

I am wearing the Different Company’s Une Nuit Magnetique from a sample. I could see myself getting a small bottle of this…loving the blueberry note and think would be really fab once the weather turns.
There is a plum tree right outside my front door and this perfume smells like sweet air in late summer and early fall when the fruit matures and drops onto the ground, often splitting open and baking in the sunshine. It is a particular smell that is sweet and round and rich. There is barely any fruit on the tree this year, maybe 5% of normal yield. The smell is much lighter than usual which is a bummer. It’s one of my favorite parts of summer turning into fall. The plums are a tripping/turning your ankle hazard, so it’s not all bad. Much less plum wreckage than usual. I have mixed feelings about it.
I never thought of it before, but now I’m guessing if there was a plum tree outside my front door I’d have long since broken my back!

We think lack of rain. It’s been more dry and hot than usual. And haven’t seen as many bees so maybe all three!

Edit..in Eau Papaguena by Elisire. I love this one..fresh, woody, a bit powdery. I really enjoy this line. And Franck Salzwedel has superb customer service..one of the nicest ppl I have communicated with in the industry. (Not affiliated). Just love the thoughtful service. And Alberto Morillas worked on at least one of the perfumes. As well as Pierre Negrin. This scent is happy joy in a bottle. Sparkly and sunny.
Some of those solids were so pretty, too.

Testing out YSL Libre Parfum again. I still like it. I also tried the new Prada Paradox… something. I did not like it at all. It didn’t transport me to any of the places the commercial said it would.

Hey hey there’s hay! From my travel spray but I do have a FB.
So, maybe I am being overly critical but here goes. Today, when I walked out to get lunch, I observed a pair of legs and shoes with no socks, thinking that it’s someone who was trying to extend summer. When I slowed down so I can get a good look at the wearer, it turned out to be a woman, walking out with 4 men. The men were pretty tall and the woman was even taller. If I had to take a guess, she is at least 6’10” tall. The problem? It literally looked like she thought she could get away with buying regular length pants as a capri pants. No, no, and no no no!
Never been a fan of Capri pants.

Chiming in with Jasmin et Cigarette (sprayed over Korres jasmine cream). I’m getting a bit of cedar from the base this time. Quite nice and it seems to be playing well since it’s not super hot outside.
