I'm commando for a day at the beach; I'll probably be back in Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil body lotion for the drive home tonight. Tea at the moment is an iced coffee from Starbucks.

Flowerbomb this morning
hermes lippy: I don’t think I should done. Its a beautiful coral color. I am noticing it takes several applications to get the full color of the lipstick. I feel like my natural lip color is always peeking through. Anyone else had a lippy fail with this line?

Yes, you should read it. It’s quite a lot different from what you’d expect from any movie version. More tragic in some ways, and more complex. It’s got scary moments, but if you read the original Bram Stoker’s Dracula, that is far more scary and unnerving! it keeps you up at night!

You smell great! I was thinking of Flowerbomb yesterday — went to a celebration of life for a friend who gave me a small bottle of it years back. Wouldn’t have dared to wear it to the service (church with no AC) — I chose Hiris, instead — but try a spritz this afternoon. It is definitely an “it wears me” scent for me, but I do like it.
Flowerbomb is very popular around here. However, I have never taken a liking to it. It’s good we all have different tastes with all the fragrances out there.
I have noticed a difference between older Flowerbomb and more recent batches of it. I have a bottle that’s circa 2008, and it has floral notes that aren’t to be found in the newer stuff.

Demeter Fiery Curry. Not fiery, and not even particularly foody, mostly soft warm rounded spices with a little sharpness to keep it interesting. Pleasant and understated.
Interesting! Never in a million years would I have wanted to smell like a curry if I haven’t been eating one, but this sounds nice.
Chanel Cuir de Russie. Probably not a summer fragrance, but sooo good. Feels calming after 5 hours of sleep last night.
WTH? Just retired and soooo busy. How did I work before? (kind of kidding, kind of not) – it’s primarily youngest son’s wedding coming up in early September that is keeping me hopping now (must.find.shoes and finish organizing rehearsal dinner) along with various other things – PT exercises for a knee that’s bothering me, retirement-related webinars I’m supposed to be watching, home projects that should have been done, etc. etc. (And yes, I know it’s first world problems, but they keep me awake at night!!)
Ha! Yes, since retirement, I’ve wondered how I ever had time to work. Of course, part of the answer is delayed house fixit projects, which are filling my days.
I feel you on the wedding prep! And I am just a guest for niece’s wedding-palooza in September. I think I finally got the shoes settled but I am questing for an appropriate purse. I’ve ordered some, but I despair of my Macy’s order ever arriving. OnTrac lost the first order. The re-order was shipped via USPS but they claim not to have received it. Arg.
I was thinking about you this morning and your experience with deliveries this summer–saw that an order I had placed got all the way to Fife, WA (near Tacoma which is near Seattle where I live) and then got sent to Salt Lake City. Noooo: wrong direction, folks! Still waiting for that one.)
Yep, it took my husband two years after his retirement to get 17 years of deferred home maintenance projects completed. Too hard to do when you’re working 60 hours a week.
Almost everyone I know has had at least one package horror story this summer.

I have been retired for a year and half and still can’t figure out how I had time to work. Of course, I am volunteering at a treatment center, reading books like crazy and sleeping in a little so not a lot of time for other things. I love being retired and here I thought I would never want to give up nursing. I was so wrong.

It’s L’Artisan Thé Pour un Été for me this morning. This is one that I have to be in just the right mood for, somehow, even in high summer, and even though it’s beautiful and soft and summery and all. But when the stars align, it’s a glorious fragrance.

National Slinky Day? I loved those:). I would somehow get them all twisted up and they wouldn’t work anymore. I liked the metal ones more than the plastic. They were more springy.
Ugh summer heat is turning up again..with 107, 108 Temps all week. Smh. It’s so darned hot. I don’t crave scents as much sometimes during these heat waves. Commando with the exception of this Pixi Rose Body Oil I have been slathering on all week. Botanical and floral concoction. I think I prefer body oils to lotions as they just seem to absorb better on this super parched, desert skin. And I like the feel as opposed to lotions.
Hot hot hot. Beverage OTD will likely be grape Gatorade lol

I had both a metal one and a plastic one (red). The metal one made a more satisfying noise, but the plastic one worked too for going down stairs.

I’m off and it’s a gorgeous day today. I’m sad that summer is winding down, but I’m going to go to a pool with a friend on Labor Day and try to live it up. I haven’t been swimming once this summer! That is just wrong.

I’m in JM Tangy Rhubarb Cologne, and it’s definitely a cologne concentration. That’s cool, I’m enjoying the blast of fruit every three hours.
It’s blessedly cooler today; we’ve been getting daily showers for a week or so now. Summer came in with a sizzle but it’s departing with a drizzle. 🙂

Waiting for dawn but from the stars above it looks like it will be fine. I am meeting my ‘outdoors only’ friend later and we’re taking our drawing pads and pencils into the botanic gardens to draw pictures and chat. I have a sheepskin coat I will wear as it is still cold and we’re expecting snow later in the week.
Perfume wise I am thinking about blind buying a Stora Skuggan perfume Moonmilk or Mistpouffer as I see they are available here. In the meantime wearing Datura Noir a white floral gothic perfume because of the mention of Frankenstein above.

To follow up on my job-related post from last week, I did get the new position/title. I will still be teaching but will have a more visible admin role for the next two years. I think this is a good thing, but it’s a new position in a newly created entity, so who knows.
And — I am going to see Culture Club and Boy George tomorrow night! This ticket just dropped into my lap; it will be quite an excursion. I feel like I’m back in high school.

Eau Dynamisante (sth like) Doux Deodorant for a road and ferry trip in mugginess. First I felt like I was branding myself (in the marketing sense) as Recently Cleaned, which was actually funny and uttetly suitable for sharing a sedan. Now just a bit of broken basil leaf here and there

Commando today. Barely splashed water on my face. Woke up embarrassingly late, drank coffee, ate 1/3 of a cherry almond scone and headed to a farmers’ market on the west side of our peninsula. About a 15 minute drive through meadows, farms (cows and horses), corn fields to a park abutting Lake Michigan. Bought a big tomato, some fresh-picked flowers, fresh pasta and chatted with a farmer friend of mine. Bright blue sky, fluffy clouds and not a speck of the heat and humidity of the past couple of days. Nice drive home to stop at a big farm market to pick up some apple cider donuts and jars of raspberry salsa and cherry salsa. Days off work are a good thing.
On the scent front I’ve worn SSS Jour Ensolleille the past couple of days. My husband always asks what I’m wearing on the days I wear it, and my boss at work commented yesterday (in a good way.) Guess I should wear more often. A woman in Trader Joe’s once complimented me also.
Raspberry salsa and especially the cherry salsa sound wicked good! 😋

Covid has taken my sense of smell, so I am slathered in Trader Joes Sugar Plum body cream because I never much cared for how it smells on me but my inner frugal goblin wouldn’t let me throw it away.

I was grocery shopping at 7:30 this morning before work. I forgot some things. Like hajusuuri though I don’t make a list. I pretty much buy the same things unless there is a super good sale on something.
Cutting down on junk food is going to help the grocery bills a little, ha!
If I make a grocery list, I typically forget it on the kitchen table. I will then miss a few important items if it’s something I don’t buy all the time.

Storm here was very short, I’m told (I drove through part of it on way home from beach). Too bad, it did not seem like a dry summer but I can see the trees are really looking stressed, and our locust is dropping leaves like mad.
It poured here for a while. Not much of anything in regards to thunder, lightning, and wind, thankfully.
We got a decent drenching and some thunder, but all of the plants and lawns are so dry and brown that it seems like too little, too late
I also have to have a list with me when I do the big grocery shopping. I used to be able to remember everything, but not anymore! And I like a paper list, not something on my phone.
Paper list twins! It’s so much easier than fumbling around with a cart, phone, and purse.
Marissa Zappas La Divina today, followed by Honey Rose once La Divina faded away. Really like these, got samples from luckyscent and am now contemplating a purse spray of La Divina from her website (purse spray sizes not availble from Luckyscent). Her Honey Rose scent is nice too, and it made me curious to try more of hers so I ordered La Divina sample. Now HR feels a bit pot pourri compared to LD, which is similar but more rich and full with a bit of a vintage vibe.
Still recommend both.
Have not tried either but they do sound nice…

Thunked a sample of Smell Bent St. Tropez Dispenser oil that I’ve had for over 10 years now. I figured I should use up the last drops while we still have hot weather. Yesterday’s easygoing Monday choice was Azemour.
Did you end up getting anything during Smell Bent’s Closing Sale?
Not during the sale, but I did buy a couple favorites right when he announced he was closing and holding a big sale in a couple weeks. I didn’t want to risk them selling out, which I think they did before the sale even. They’re Hungry Hungry Hippies and Sunshine.

You would think that after my commutation issues last week that I’ve already paid my dues to society. 🤣🤣🤣. Today wasn’t so bad we we’re just waiting less than .25 miles from my station and we just sat there for over 25 minutes. The PA system was no good because not only was it garbled, the guy sitting in front of me was arguing with a client, on the phone. Oy!

I’ve been non-stop busy the last few days. Yesterday I wore Carven L’Eau de Toilette and today I am in Tendre Poison.
My coworker was wearing Coco Mademoiselle. I noticed she wears something different almost every day and complemented her on her perfumes. She said her daughter buys her a new one every birthday and Christmas ( how great is that!?)

Chiming in last. It’s back to hot again this week after 2 days of cooler weather on the weekend. The break was nice.

Tonight I’m wearing a mix of carrot seed oil blended into an unscented-ish body cream after my shower. Otherwise I’ve been mostly unscented during the days since the wasps are out in full force; I’d like to avoid them. 🐝
