I'm in a perfect introduction to neroli, if indeed neroli is difficult for anyone? Maybe it really isn't. Anyway I'm in Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré.
Reminder: on 8/26 we're doing It's difficult, part 1...wear a fragrance that you'd recommend as a good introduction to a note that some people find difficult.

Hi LTSG, how was your trip to NS? I was just there last month for a week… Halifax is home for me and I had such a good time there and on the south shore in Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. Hope you enjoyed it!
Hello! We went to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Peggy’s Cove and Chester. Halifax was very lovely and walkable. Lunenburg really stole my heart. So beautiful.

Today is my Friday and starting tomorrow I am on staycation.🎉 I’ll be off until September 6. Planning to do all kinds of fun stuff with my girls next week before we take my older daughter back to college.😢

I’m in nineties-era Patou Eau de Joy, which is not quite as good as the original Joy, but that’s like saying that Van Gogh’s Wheat Field isn’t quite as good as his Starry Night — they’re both great! Patou took Joy, one of the greatest scents ever created, and made it younger and fresher with aldehydes and just a bucketful of other things. I used to compare the two and find Eau de Joy wanting, but now I take it as its own thing, and it’s wonderful.
I can’t remember but don’t think I ever tried EdJ? Joy was a masterpiece obviously, and one of my regrets is not buying the extrait years ago.
Yeah, mine, too. If I had known then what I know now! I have a couple of millilitres of nineties EDT and even that is stunning: I dole out a drop every now and then.
I’m wearing Demeter Tomato again. I found my other bottle, so now I have two 1oz. bottles. Yea!

I chose MCG Lankaran Forest this morning. It’s the gentlest, prettiest aromatic scent I’ve come across, and might be a good one to ease an aromatic-phobe into that genre.

I think I am the opposite of you both…can’t think of any scent I’d wear 10 sprays of!
I’m in Robin’s camp. I personally couldn’t do that much. But L’Eau is wonderful even with my measly 2 or 3 sprays!
I am frequently wearing a little dab or spray of something on the back of one hand.

Scent-free so far – decisions, decisions! Might go with TDC Divine Bergamote or maybe Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil.
I’m excited to say I bought my daughter her first bottle of adult fragrance yesterday. She’s 25 now, and hasn’t worn fragrance since she was basically a child. She wanted Terre d’Hermes EDT – I’m more than happy to endorse and encourage this choice!

Feeling MUCH better this morning. Thanks everyone for your thoughtfulness yesterday. Amazing how a good night’s sleep can make everything in life a little less sideways.
It is once again a cold grey morning here in dingly dell. I’m in Chypre Shot, which is a very cozy scent. It is different from other perfumes I consider cozy in that it isn’t sweet. Well, it has some sweetness, but not that balsamic “oriental” amber sweetness like in Ambre 114 and Ambra Aurea (both of which I love). I was aiming for Darcy (from a sample) but wound up grabbing the CS. The funny thing is that this morning I had a craving for cardamom in my coffee, and a little cinnamon in my foamed milk. Looking up the notes of CS, coffee and cardamom, and spices.

For some reason, I think I may be the person who has trouble with neroli. I wish I could remember which fragrance it was, but *something* that claimed to feature neroli really did not sit well with me.
Commando today for med appointments. Thanks to all for the good wishes yesterday re: work. I’ve decided to stand for the position, and I am sure it will be a contested electlon, but at least the decision will be made soon, rather than in weeks or months.
I wouldn’t say troubled per se, but it sure isn’t a selling point for me in a perfume…

Thunked a sample vial this morning, Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours. This might be a good intro to leather. It actually smells of leather and not suede, and it’s a bit sweet.
And there aren’t that many good intros to leather. The Hermes Cuir d’Ange is too mild.

2) Banana split day? What a wonderful idea for dinner- I just bought six pints of Coconut Bliss vegan ice cream and a hand of bananas!
I am not vegan, and tend to tilt purist in my cuisine, but I love their coconut and their vanilla plant-based ice creams. I’ve served them to food snobs and they always get rave reviews!
And I only saw recently that they’ve starting making dairy ice creams now too.
I am not vegan either BUT I do find many vegan ice creams- especially made locally- to be really good AND easy on the digestion!
Came across Sonia Rykiel Woman while reorganizing some bottles. Spritzed it today and thought: this could be a great introduction to pepper! I guess it has been discontinued, but the prices are good on Ebay. The bottle is very fun, too.

SotD for this week’s CP is L’Eau d’Ambre. I have a notion that maybe some folks think amber is too heavy, but this is such an airy, wafty treatment, and I love it. When I was out walking the dog, I got huge compliments on it from two ladies I was passing by. One of them wanted to know the name and everything! This was a first, so that was very fun.

I guess a big part of the “an introduction to…” might be that it’s a perfume that’s also on the more affordable side,and in terms of $ spent the ones I have been wearing wasn’t quite on the cheaper side of the scale.
Like Encre Noir is a great intro to vetiver,but also easily accesible and won’t break the bank.

I am sampling Elevato 3 from Adjiumi for my Italian scent today. It is an interesting scent–started as cocoa with a touch of mint, then became chocolate with honey and now seems to be chocolate with a little bit of berry/fruit

Sampled Dame Pineapple Musk today. Leans more masculine to my nose and was kind of fleeting but that could be due to the heat or me not being able to smell the musk entirely.
I agree with you on the Dame Pineapple Musk leaning toward the masculine side.

SOTD = Solstice Scent Estate Vetiver
This could teach someone that just because a note is in the name doesn’t mean it’s predominantly of that note. Estate Vetiver is primarily a patchouli on me. I used my usual 8 sprays and who hoo, I smell fabulous!
I have made no specific plans but I will be cleaning out parts of my humble abode. It never really looks organized and / or clean but it takes a sigh of relief when I unload a good chunk, whether it’s to the garbage or to a donation center.
Why a 4 day weekend? Will next weekend be one too?
I have first world problems of too many paid days off. I can only carryover 5 to March 2023 and so have to look for more time to take this year.
Whoo hoo for a long weekend, and no train drama for a while!
