I must have smelled Rocabar at some point but I honestly don’t remember it. I always remember the rugs from Kevin’s review though

and got curious about inflation…those rugs were $540 in 2016 and are $580 now, which actually doesn’t seem that bad to me, once you’re paying over $500 for a wool blanket I guess.

There are so many thousands of scents out there, it’s understandable you might not remember having tried a specific one. I know Rocabar has been reformulated: they put it in the house bottle, which is never a good sign, because it means they’re cutting costs. But what I am fortunate to have, the old bottle wrapped in the tiny wool blanket with the leather cord to hold it in place? That stuff is spectacular. I’m not one for gendering scents but this one smells specifically masculine in the best possible way, all gruff and outdoorsy, Eau de Lumberjack.
I loved that bottle… and you smell fantastic!

You smell wonderful. Is your bottle new to you, or current version and happily still a good fragrance? I have a bit of vintage, and an early-2000 bottle and both are great.
I had a tiny mini splash of this fragrance for years. I rarely used it, but recently I started craving green fragrances especially with galbanum. So that being said, my full bottle is current formulation, and I probably got my mini in the ’90s. They smell the same to me, with a definite galbanum and marigold scent.
Galbanum and marigold – ahhh! I also like the touch of rose in this one. Kudos to Ralph Lauren for keeping this gem as is.
I’m in Beige from a sample included with purchase. This is pretty but not really me. I think I will add it to the freebie box.

After work I am heading up north. My college daughter’s work contract for her summer camp job ends Saturday and then she will be home for 2 weeks before she heads off to college. I am taking one of those weeks as vacation because I intend to savor every minute with her.🥰 Lucky for me my son is doing the driving so I can sit back and enjoy the ride.

I bought one that looks and smells fine: no nail polish top notes, clean box. That said, I didn’t test this particular fragrance back in the day, so I can’t tell if it’s changed over time.
I would be a bit more hesitant to buy the unboxed bottles (since light is the enemy), but they are also priced lower. And the boxed ones are not super expensive.
So weird to find a cache from this era. The seller’s other offerings don’t look that old to me, but I haven’t followed some of the brands.

Jean-Claude Ellena sent me down this rabbit hole by mentioning Bois Farine in that beautiful perfume Atlas of Perfumed Botany. I *had* to look up reviews and then ended up on ebay.
Ah, still on my reading list! But Bois Farine is one of my regrets, I really should have bought the 15 ml while I still could.

I love DSH 😻 but she causes me tremendous FOMO by being so astonishingly prolific.
It is nice…did not really test longevity well because the other one is so much stronger. So need to wear it on its own — I can tell you the top notes are great!
And yes. I have not announced it because I’ve never seen it on her new page, but I suspect she releases lots of new stuff without marking it as new, so she’s even more prolific than I can keep track of.
This is a very nice way of saying the website is still a mess. I do end up buying stuff when she has her annual sale in December (or maybe it starts in November) and we’ll into January.
I subscribe to her Heirloom series so that I can get some of the good stuff without having to make any decisions. 😸

I’m in Chanel Eau de Cologne, on a humid muggy day. I like to wear Chanel fragrances on the lead up to her birthday. I looked at the new makeup for fall, and I’m intrigued by the colour schemes. I was watching the you tube reviews last night-it’s so nice of the people who can try this stuff in person to post the reviews, for those of us who are purchasing sight unseen. I bought the nail polish 947 Desir, cause it’s supposed to be the most like Vamp. I always wanted Vamp, since 1994 or so when it first came out. We only got Rouge Noir, which is similar but not the same.

The makeup sounds interesting. I, too, always wanted Vamp but never owned it. Since then I’ve worn some polishes that come close, but not…quite. I’ll check out the videos!

Fruity guy is now … Sporty guy. He was still fruity on Tuesday but when I saw him today, he was all dressed up in a hockey jersey (blue and red so maybe Rangers … but what do I know), red boxing gloves. I don’t recall what he has in his mouth nor what type of shoes he wore. I think part of him is supposed to be a runner and/or a swimmer so I will need to look next time. Only in NYC!

I remembered the CP this morning and put on a lot of the old No19 EDT, a good choice for today. Went to our alottment and harvested lots of heirloom tomatoes and the last zucchini. Sometimes i dream of eating other veggies, but its the season, so we eat what we have. There will be. pumpkins and beets later, and a bit of dinosaur kale…

I WAS a perfumista back in the day of splash bottles. My solution was to go to the local Woolworths which carried affordable and pretty glass atomizers which fit nice in my bookbag for school. I was a decanter way back when. However, I always preferred my perfume dabbed
I used to go out of my way to find Diorissimo and Coriandre in splash…I much preferred dabbed. In retrospect I am not sure why as I am sure I over applied them both anyway.
No Chanel available so it will be Rose Cherie today. Rather hot here but should cool off tomorrow.

I’m wearing Narciso (white cube) today. I have to thank J.K. Rowling for this–her character Robin Ellacott picks it after changing her life’s trajectory. The description of it as “sun-warmed skin” prompted me to get a sample and now I have a bottle.

Commando but bummed my Tuscany Per Donna bottle has turned color/darkened(always kept in the box) and doesn’t smell quite like it should. It is like 3/4 full and is the older, prettier, cylinder bottle that is disco’d.. sigh. This scent was probably my biggest gateway..besides Poison into perfume. Sigh the square bottles are so boring but hey, at least not discod entirely. 99 today really not a bad summer here besides the flooding, which was kinda crazy. Craving a clean, white floral..hm. For whatever reason, LOTV sounds good and I usually don’t care for that note. And I gave away my Jessica McClintock which was a pretty good lotv for cheapo:)
Aww, too bad about your Tuscany! I have several bottles, and one is as you describe but I find if I wait it out, it becomes itself. I share your love of Poison – when it first came out, I remember thinking it was really special even though I knew next to nothing about perfumes.
That original Tuscany per Donna bottle was lovely. Such a bummer that yours isn’t quite right now.

It’s Friday here, so I’ll wear my other Chanel, Bois des Iles. Yet another wet day, we’re not affected by the floods in other areas, but a landslip has come down near us, we’ve lived here for 20 years and haven’t seen that before.
I hope no one was hurt, and that you are well away from any landslides – they are terrifying.

SotD to boldly follow the (virtual) sillage of perfumelover67’s 31 Rue Cambon extravaganza from yesterday. I am smitten! This was another of the kindly gifted set of Les Exclusives decants. I checked the notes on Fragrantica, and my dull nose is finally helping me realized that iris and ylang-ylang and labdanum are lurking in many of my love at first sniff perfumes. It is giving me a very good scent bubble, too, helped along with the kind of patchouli I like. Happy Thursday, all.

I was planning to be a perfume twin with MossyBerry today in 31 rue Cambon, but the weather has shifted back to muggy and we are going to be dining al fresco at a local winery, so I cannot risk alienating either the other diners or myself with an “overblooming” 31RC. Will choose either Deauville or (gasps off surprise!) Cristalle Eau Verte.

Wearing Cristalle EDT for our hot day, one of very few Chanels I have that’s a good fit for heat. Yesterday I thunked a small decant of Chance Eau Fraiche and Tuesday I wore Paris-Edimbourg. Not sure yet what I’ll choose for tomorrow but at least our temperature is supposed to drop.
Having a very sleepy week and looking forward to bedtime, even though it’ll be another warm night.

Something a little different than what I usually post here, heh.
The weather is still gorgeous here, but definitely heating up from what it was earlier this week. So dry, though! Depending on which meteorologist I listen to, my area is anywhere from 3 to 5 inches below what it should be. Some of the trees are looking a little crispy.

SOTD = back in Alien Aqua Chic EdT. My sample isn’t showing any signs of thunking yet.
Crispy is right and the leaves seem to be turning earlier this year because it is so dry!
Some of the leaves on the trees here have had crunchy brown edges to them since late June, or thereabouts.
Same here! Some leaves are burned and falling before changing colors. It is too dry and no rain in the forecast in the near future.

I’m inadvertently wearing Chanel No 5 body creme again today. This morning I was somehow fiddling with the glass container and I fumbled it, dropping it to the floor. It bounced against the side of the bed and landed right side up on the carpet. Ooops, but thankfully it wasn’t upside down!
I scraped off as much damage as I could from the sheets and bedskirt. Then cleaned up the carpet as good as possible. With the ensuing cleanup, there is still has the soft scent of No. 5 in my bedroom. It’s definitely trying to make me a fan of the fragrance.
I’d like to see this fumble in a slow motion instant replay! Glad it didn’t break or land upside down!

Delighted to wear my vintage Cristalle today–I smell great if I do say so myself! Got a good report from my eye doctor–no more eye drops and I don’t have to see him for six months–YEAH! I love a day with good news. Hope all of you are enjoying today as much as I am!
