The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 11 August 2022 13 Comments

I don't know what I'd do with it, but I want some. From NYC's Enfleurage, Lilac Pomade: "Our lilac (Syringa vulgaris,) is grown, harvested and enfleuraged in upstate New York, and expertly blended into a delightful pommade, using organic candelilla wax and vitamin E. This is a mouth-watering, textural delight. So many of us grew up with lilac season, and their unmistakable fragrance punctuated our early springs. Lilac is one of those flowers that refuses to be distilled, refuses to allow solvents to extract her, and whose wonderful complexity is so difficult to synthesize. Enfleurage is the only reasonable way to extract her scent, and here it is in a gorgeous pomade that lives up to the most discerning expections." $38 at Enfleurage.

Is pomade just a fancy word for solid perfume? What is this? Even their website manages to be both vague and wordy at the same time🙄
Maybe they’re being very “do as you wish” but I can’t figure out what you’re supposed to do with this. I see pomade and think of a hair product.

I could be wrong, but I think it is a substitute for gel in your hair.

That is my understanding too…pomade is a hair product. But you’re right that they don’t specify at all.

I love Enfleurage and own several of their products and would highly recommend them. I discovered them here on NST when Jessica wrote a review and have been hooked ever since!

I bought the Lilac Pomade a few years ago. I suppose it could be used as a hair product, but it’s quite waxy and dense. I know some people use that type of thing for very short hair, so there’s that. I bought this for the scent and thought I might use it like a solid perfume, but the scent was not detectable to my nose. It’s possible that my nose just gave up the ghost or the batch was milder than usual, who knows? They graciously allowed me to return it for a full refund (I didn’t touch it).

You’re welcome! I hesitated to write my comment, as I do love everything else I’ve tried from Enfleurage.

Hi Holly, if you don’t mind me asking, which of their products do you like the most? I have heard of Enfleurage before but not really looked closely at the line. Thank you!

Hi allo! I love their blends for environmental aromatherapy – Citrus Cheer and Fire are my personal favorites but they’re all really good and highly effective. I also enjoy their frankincense chips used with their Japanese charcoal for burning. All of their frankincense products are stellar as they are from their own production facility in Oman. If you’re into skincare rituals, their hydrosols are lovely. I hope that helps, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask!

Thank you Holly! That gives me a great place to start 🙂

I just found a bunch of mine yesterday! They are years old, but still good.

This is a lot cheaper than what I paid!
