Wuthering Heights! Laurence Olivier! Heathcliff would wear Tumulte Pour Homme as he brooded over Cathy. Actually he wouldn’t wear perfume at all, just that irresistible smell of heather, fresh air and, of course, stables. I love that movie.
I’m packing up to leave for Louisiana tomorrow and I’m wearing Seville l’Aube. I’m only taking Narciso white cube and Hove Fascinator, and Aura lotion from the swap meet, so I might not be posting much. I have my eating plan set to include some boudin and lots of shrimp 😋 Enjoy your weekend everyone!

The 30th was Kate Bush’s birthday and so yesterday ( today for you slow coaches) was Most Wuthering Heights Day and was celebrated in the middle of our town with a dance flash mob to the song. So, people were dressed in red, mostly, and were given a lesson of all the moves and then performed en masse. Perfect winter entertainment…the money raised goes to mens mental health ( for Heathcliff ). I am the most hopeless, uncoordinated dancer but some of the people must have been secretly practising for hours! It’s only 3.15 am here so no perfume and I’m not officially awake yet, but I was wearing Journey in the red bottle.

I have bottles of Gardenia and Honeysuckle which are really good. I think the next one I will get is the Osmanthus. I recently ordered a sample of Black Flower Mexican Vanilla. It is nice, but I will try it again in cold weather, because it was a bit overwhelming on these hot, muggy days.

I lurked for something close to two years before I felt safe joining this great group who post to share ideas, books, recipes, and of course fragrances. I suspect quite a few of us are in the balance introverts?
I lurked for about 7 years before I commented.
I’m accidentally on point for Wuthering Heights this morning in Mojave Ghost, an ethereal scent that would suit several characters in the book, but especially Cathy’s ghost. It’s a beautiful perfume, but not “me” exactly. Nevertheless, I’ll set the sample aside and try it again in the fall — tastes do change, and MG really is lovely.
House twin! I love (and own) Mojave Ghost, and I find I wear it most in the late winter/ early spring.

I have a feeling this is one that’s different on everyone. My experience is different from Kevin’s (per his rather negative review here) and doesn’t really jibe with the write-up on LuckyScent either. On me it’s what I call a “but not” scent — ethereal, but not; floral, but not; woody, but not; musky, but not. I can discern the sandalwood, magnolia and ambrette (and maybe the violet) that are listed in its notes, but their combination is unlike anything else I’ve tried.
SheriG, you have a way with words. This sounds so interesting. A sample is going to be purchased!

I know I’ve read Wuthering Heights at some point in my life, but don’t remember any details because I have the memory of a 98 year old. Stepped out to throw a load of laundry in the washer and take doggo out and already this morning, it’s unbearable. I’m working tonight and will leave doggo at the hotel because it’s really not even cooling down much at night. The only relief is the all too brief reprieve from the sizzling sun. 🌞🔥

Hmmm…I’m probably not the best person to ask. I approach scent from an emotional standpoint, not an analytical one. I don’t find them very similar when I wear them. YMMV.
To me, Le Lion is more wearable, especially in the heat. I have Shalimar edp, which I rarely wear because I find it a bit much most of the time. I have to be in the right mood for it. I love the MVP version in any weather, any time, any place. I find Le Lion smokier, like it’s heavier on the styrax and balsam. Shalimar feels more benzoin-ish. Le Lion is “dry” where Shalimar is “moist.” I don’t get “funk” from Le Lion like I do from Shalimar. If I had to pick only one, I’d pick Le Lion over Shalimar, not necessarily because I like it more but because I find it more wearable and would use it more so it would be a better value for me.

As far as decluttering, I met a lovely nurse yesterday who graduated from the same college as I did. We are going to set a date to bring my beloved parents’ clothing to the homeless. I won’t bore with the details or try to sound holier than thou (sp.?), but she feels like the angel I have been waiting for.

I don’t toss lotions and shower gels. If you have some that are new/unopened, you may consider asking your nurse friend if she would be interested in taking them to work with her…?
Speaking from experience (I am a nurse😊), I have taken things that I know I won’t use to work, put them on the break table with a sign, and they always get taken. I recently did this with some Clinique gift with purchase stuff and it was gone immediately.
I have really old lotions, but I love the smell still. Even if separated?

Shower gels last a really long time so I rarely toss them unless I’m tired of the scent. Lotions, I toss if they look or smell off.

I don’t toss lotions or shower gels either, unless the lotion has separated AND the smell has gone off. That’s happened only a couple of times. I have played mix & match with shower gels that I have gotten tired of, though. Sometimes I swap out a gel for a different one before I finish it, then return to the previous one after a while.
I like the AND part! Very useful! I have some ancient ones so I have another project for sniffing the old lotions.😊

I might have commented before that I saw the 1970s version of Wuthering Heights when I was in my teens, my friends and I were all deeply smitten with Timothy Dalton. I think he was under-appreciated as James Bond, but that might be partly because of my impression of him as Heathcliff 🙂

It is very interesting. It reads like half scandalous gossip column, half biography(s). Over 500 pages, but the chapters breeze by because the story is quite absorbing. Those two larger-than-life personalities know how to draw you into their drama, even while being long gone. Def. recommend. 🙂

I *hated* Wuthering Heights so much! It was required reading for an English class in high school. I got along rather well with the teacher, so I asked him if we could please, please, please read something else. Anything else! Apparently I was not alone, since we started reading Dickens not soon after. So no scent recs from me.
SOTD = Smell Bent Pepper Ylang EdT. A successful blind buy! Heavy on the ylang and light on the black pepper to my nose.
Took me three tries, decades apart, to be able to follow the story at all. Third try was just in the last year or so, and while I was finally able to keep the characters and timeline straight, to me it was still a disturbing book full of mostly unlikeable people. So I’m with you!
Time has dulled some details, but I know for sure that my opinion of Heathcliff would NOT pass NST’s comment policy!

Hello, I haven’t posted for ages, I’ve been preparing for my counselling diploma oral exam for a few months, and I finally sat it on Friday and passed! 😅 anyway, I’m so happy and relieved and it feels so good to have time to really relax and enjoy things like NST again! I’m with Jalapeño on Wuthering Heights, so I’ve got nothing.
Today is the last official day of my week of vacation.😢 I’m currently sitting at an outdoor cafe sipping a cafe au lait and trying not to be sad about it. We’ve had an Airbnb for the last 3 nights and the weather has been glorious! I truly could not have ordered better weather. We’ve dined out every night, taken walks and enjoyed the sunset last night.
I brought along my travel spray of TF Eau de Soleil Blanc, but then I picked up a rollerball from a local perfumer of an oil blend made with patchouli, clove and ylang ylang and have been wearing that. Also picked up some Chandrika sandalwood soap from the local coop, which is the only place I can find it.

Orion is shining brightly this morning and it’s cold again but at least the sun rises before 8am , for the first time this winter. Off to the dentist. I’ve had a cracked abscessed molar which has been so painful and keeps flaring up. I have wanted it to be pulled out but the dentist has resisted, so it’s been a weeks-long saga and today is part one of a root canal. Drives me to distraction. It’s costing so much money that I feel inclined to leave it to my son in my will. Wearing Coze . I was wearing it yesterday while biking and the heat made it waft nicely during the uphill, then I grew tired of it. But I am wearing the same jersey so it’s Coze again. Rabbit! Have a happy week!

Feeling indecisive this morning. Maybe I’ll try another new 4160 Tuesdays scent I just received, Showered in Spices.
I wore Prada Purple Rain on Saturday as it was raining the entire day.
On Sunday I picked up some Chanel Paris Deauville for the sunny day after.
I’m here but not wearing perfume. Instead I’m sporting the fine mentholated aroma of Biofreeze! I’ve been having more pain because of, I guess, doing more. Also, we’ve had rain and my therapist noted that a lot of people with metal in their bodies seem to experience pain more on rainy weather or when there are weather changes. We do need the rain, though.
Take it easy, Calypso! Be careful with yourself, step forwards, no setbacks.
